Obama talked again about “living within our means” in his Weekly Address today.

Beginning to live within our means is the only way to protect the investments that will help America compete for new jobs – investments in our kids’ education and student loans; in clean energy and life-saving medical research.

Of Course, Obama was bragging about the fact that he agreed to cut $38.5 billion from the federal budget this year. This is after Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Democrats added over a trillion dollars to the annual federal budget in the last 4 years.

That’s at least a 30% increase in federal spending in just 3 years.
Is that “living withing our means?”

The Obama-Pelosi national deficit is over a trillion dollars for the third year in a row.
Another Obama record.

This chart was updated to reflect the recent news that the deficit this year will reach $1.65 trillion. (The Captain’s Comments)

  1. I bet this is just the first balloon the buffoon is floating….to see if the ‘merican people will allow entitlements to be cut.

The budget overspending mess debacle whatever you want to call it…is his. Hear me o’barack!?!?!? He created it, he worsened and all ready terrible deficit, and he sold the ‘merican soul to the chicoms. Did he do it with forethought or some idealogical orgasmic spams? Who knows.

But I honestly think the guy had one lucid moment this week and GULP…saw that the ‘merican people are sobering up. So he is priming the stage for once again throwing somebody under the bus. He wants the ‘merican people to take the fall. He wants them to clamor for some debt relief. He wants to chasties the ‘merican people like little chillins’ so da big massa can come and save dem……

Just watch and count the days before he steps forward to help straighten out this mess. AND he won’t acknowlege that he was the cause of it.

    Steve

  2. He doesn’t know how to tell the truth. He has no experience at THAT either.

  3. I wonder what this web site is going to do when Paul Ryans 3.6 trillion 2012 budget is discussed?

Will we see stories, and charts, of the new 2012 Republican overspending of 1.5 Trillion?

Inquiring minds are waiting to find out!

  4. Obama should go to work for Madison Avenue, if he thinks that a 2% cut of the deficit is a Big Historic Event.

  5. With a 2011 budget of 3.82 Trillion dollars, 38 billion isn’t even one percent. So, for an American family making 50K this year, that’s the equivalent of cutting about 490 dollars from their budget, or just over 40 bucks a month. What a pathetic government we have, thinking that cutting 1 percent will solve our problems. Sick. Living within our means? Yeah, right.

  6. These cuts are equivalent to taking a dozen toothpicks off the burden of the Red Wood Forest on the Backs of American taxpayers.

Nothing to brag about this you get a shoulder under the entire weight and start leveraging it off their backs in hefty portions.

This might have been a good first effort – if it weren’t the 7th. It ain’t treading water with the Interest Payments due the Feds for the SAME TIME FRAME. But then, what is Constitutional bout the Fed Reserve in the first place. Nothing.

  7. Hand-wringers like Michael Medved (ex-Democrat) were caterwaulling against a shutdown and squealing about how now’s not the time, its the Ryan budget/debt ceiling nexus (mid May) we should wait for to make THE STAND and oh Repub messaging is terrible and the Tea Party hysterical and oh I could go on all day.

Mark it now, come the magic nexus, when all should seem right to the sensibilities of an apostate Democrat, Medved and his like will find a whole lot of other things wrong with conservatives, and we’re just not doing it right, etc and so forth.

And THE STAND will come to nothing because the Dems arent going to pass a budget for ’12
    either Medved, you dumbass.

Ryan will be shelved and we’re just going to keep playing this stopgap melodrama right up to the election, all for peanuts.

Unless a real stand gets made somewhere folks. And wherever it is, we wont be perfect in our execution. Let’s just win ugly if we must. It’lll be a beautiful memory and only Democrats (and Democrats at heart) will mind.

  8. With 3 fronts in the war against Muslims (which Obama has NO intention of stopping), there will always be a failsafe for the Democrats. Just say “shut down” and the military families will be the first to be denied pay. Welfare, disability, food stamps will be distributed but screw out military.

At some point in this budget game, the Republicans are going to have to call the marxists’ bluff.

Let’s hope paybacks are the b!tch some say they are; it will not be good enough to get al-Bama out of office. I won’t be satisfied until this imposter and his henchmen like Holder, etc. are frog marched down to GITMO and kept there for treason.

  9. Indeed, Boehner won big, so did the GOP and the Country…

A huge win for Republicans – Conservatives, and shows just how big elections are, the payoffs for the 2010 victories continue to roll in a positive.

Too bad we foolishly let some reactionary nonsense weaken all, and enabled the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Obama, Clinton, etc., after 2004.

Too bad we some still are engaging in the most juvenile emotive fashion – which is bizarrely fart too anti-GOP.

But one can only hope the growing majority of Americans, like those who just voted for sanity in Wisconsin giving a rebuke to the Unions, are still seeing the light in the rest of the Country.

  10. “These cuts are equivalent to taking a dozen toothpicks off the burden of the Red Wood Forest on the Backs of American taxpayers.”

We were looking at a 490 Billion range Non-Security Discretionary Spending total for 2011. Since we are 6+ months into the fiscal year, you have to figure at least half is already spent; while it was probable that much more then that was impossible to stop this late into the year. None the less, we will just assume that half of it was still open to cuts for arguments sake.

Dems offered to cut Nothing, while Obama wanted to add 40 Billion
Boehner managed to cut 40 Billion.
So that’s 40 Billion from the 245 Billion Non-Security Discretionary Spending that we conservatively estimate was still possible to cut.

It equals more then 6% of the available funds.

And over the next 10 years, yesterdays cuts are said to total more then 500 Billion in savings (while saving just short of a Trillion when considered against the increases Obama wanted) – its hardly an insignificant amount saved considering Democrats should have passed their 40 Billion (or 400+ Billion over 10 year) increase more then 6 months ago if they had done their job…

We cant even dream of cutting “Trillions” out of the budget without tackling Medicare/Medicaid/(ObamaCare)/SocialSecurity though, and all those changes would need to be done prior to a fiscal year begins. It just wasn’t possible to cut that type of spending 6 months into a fiscal year. The Trillions will come in the Ryan proposal – or, at least the Ryan proposal will open the door for cuts in the Trillions level. Until Conservatives take the Senate and WhiteHouse away from Reid/Obama though, multiple Trillions will probably be near impossible to get.

  11. Freddy?

Do you even grasp the mandated spending created in entitlements, which are mostly a product of the Democratic Party?

Do you even grasp the concept of revenue growth, or estimated deficit predictions?

I am not sensing someone realizes that the Republicans who held a slim majority in the House and Senate from 2002 to 2006 with the Bush Administration in the Presidency, were not fully responsible for mandated spending extremes set forth by the Democratic Partisan malfeasance – or their refusal to reform such disastrous deficit creating monsters when GW Bush tried to save Social Security after 2004. Hell, the Bush Administration was even blocked at trying to deal with the enormous waste and destructive folly of the Democratic Partisan abuse in Freddie-Fannie, by the likes of Frank, Dodd, Waters, Boxer, etc.

Nope, the record is clear … If someone complains like Freddy about the Ryan plan, the serious concepts provided by Republicans to save the USA from the nightmare created by the Democratic Party with some absurd claim ‘they are spending too much’, they simply are not paying attention to reality. That nonsense happened after 2004, desperately trying to undermine the GOP, with dishonest claims the Democratic Party was more fiscally responsible – it was a big bold lie.

Americans should never fall for that garbage again.

Democrats will spend, tax, cheat, lie, etc., period.

They have no clue, and will send all to oblivion. We have watched the disaster they created in MI, LA, CA, NJ, NY, etc. Even the Clintons tried to Nationalize US Health Care, gave us the biggest tax increase in US History (which helped create the Recession of 99-2000), pushed major Deficit Spending Budget busters (which the Republicans blocked after 1994), tried to block serious – needed Welfare Reform, and gave Federal Loan Guarantees to the likes of Enron.

Time to put the Democratic Party on the dust heap for good. No more serious influence of any kind for the old nightmare known as the DNC.

  12. “Too bad we some still are engaging in the most juvenile emotive fashion – which is bizarrely fart too anti-GOP.”

Its sadly ironic. So many conservatives complain about wanting to remove the self-described intellectuals and elites who act like they are somehow so much smarter then everyone else while running around bragging about having all the answers to all the problems – then they turn around and micro-analyze and degrade others when everything they decided should have taken place in their ideas to solve all the problems wasn’t achieved…

  13. OH well, FOX news is ALL OVER THE TRUTH today. They are saying that people would not have been able to visit DC if the shutdown occurred.

Hey, at least the propaganda is still alive and well!

  14. Math is not Bam’s strong suit…….not like mendacity or cowardice, or egomania, or…………

  15. Hey there Old Fan,

Ya know, with this internet and all it is certainly a lot easier to get the word out.

I suspect you need to do what I did. I went over to heritage.org and clicked on their budget summary. From there, I took the link to the house.gov site to the path document the budget committee assembled. Scrolling down to the last 2 pages of that PDF, you find the annual summaries for the spending plan.

There you will find that the proposal calls for 3.6 trillion in spending in 2012. This 2012 budget is going to be almost identical in total as the Obama budget. Unless you think there are going to be major, 80% tax revenue increases, it will have 1.5 trillion in additional deficit spending.

Is it really reasonable to expect the Fed to monetize that? Will the world just let the dollar slide with no repercussions?

We need real, major, budget reform. We will need a budget under 3 trillion in 2012 to even have a chance of avoiding massive levels of inflation. As for Republicans vs Democrats from a spending perspective, so far, 2012 looks the same. There will be no 2013 budget as all sides will hold out for the election. AGAIN!

  16. A cut of 38.5 million out of the budget isn’t actually a reduction or monies saved, it is just less monies spent than what Obama had wanted to spend…..what a joke. The slaughter of women have been averted – the left are nuts.
