A reporter and videographer for WDBJ-TV out of Roanoake, Virginia were shot and killed during a live interview report Wednesday morning at Bridgewater Plaza.

Reporter Alison Parker was conducting an interview when several shots were fired. Videographer Adam Ward continued filming for a few seconds. As the camera falls a man can be seen having approached the news team from behind. WDBJ general manager Jeff Marks reported both were killed in the incident. There is no word on the status of person being interviewed as of now.

A screen grab from the video report posted to Facebook shows what appears to be the man who is seen approaching the news team from behind holding a handgun.

Police are searching for a person who they say shot at multiple people Wednesday morning, killing WDBJ7’s reporter Alison Parker, 24, and photojournalist Adam Ward, 27, at the Bridgewater Plaza near Smith Mountain Lake.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Department’s Spokesperson Phillip Young, the shooting occurred at the Bedford County-Franklin County line in Moneta at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 26.
