Senate Democrats Reject Keystone Pipeline & ANWR Drilling In One Easy Vote

The Keystone Pipeline project was expected to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the oil industry. The project itself would create 20,000 construction jobs. And the pipeline would bring oil from Canada and North Dakota to refineries in the United States.

But it was just a big pipe dream.

(Bob McCarty)

With gas prices at record levels…
Senate Democrats rejected the Keystone Pipeline and drilling in ANWR yesterday in a single vote. EVERY DEMOCRAT, except for Senator Begich from Alaska, voted against the legislation that would increase American oil production.
The Pioneer Press reported:

The Senate on Tuesday resoundingly rejected a sweeping measure to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other protected areas to oil drilling, as well as to approve construction of the Keystone pipeline project.

Tuesday’s vote was the first time in four years that the Senate has voted on a measure including ANWR drilling, and it failed miserably. The proposal needed 60 votes to pass; it only received 41 votes in favor, with 57 senators against.

Kansas Republican Sen. Pat Roberts pushed the measure as an amendment to the bill that funds transportation projects across the nation.

Obama and Senate Democrats blocked the Keystone Pipeline last week, too.

Letting all my democrat friends know.

Some of us still love America.

November is going to be really ugly

For democrats due to this kind of

    ignorant and destructive behavior.

  • raybojabo

WOW! Say bye-bye to all those good high paying union jobs. The stupid union goons voted these Democrats into office and will obediently vote them back in again like they are told. Oh the irony. There is no creature stoopider than the North American union goon.

  • TiminPhx

Who were the scum Republicans that went along with this?

  • Atlanta Media Guy

I wonder why Begich from Alaska voted against the measure? Gee, you think he wouldn’t be re-elected has he voted yes? This man should have tried to get this thing passed. I hope this vote will send Dingy Harry back to the well of the senate to play out his term. Like Obama said, “I hope the cost of energy goes up, slowly but up.” He also told the San Fran Chron. that he would push the companies, that used coal to produce power, to close those plants down. I can’t wait this summer as the rolling blackouts effect the majority of the populated areas of the country. The power companies will explain that it is Obama’s EPA that is causing you to lose power right now. This should help in O’s re-election bid.

I would love it this summer as Obama is campaigning, that a rolling black out will effect one of his campaign stops. I hope someone calls him on this EPA ridiculousness. That’s a word now, thanks to Viacom’s MTV.

I’m buying my Post-It Notes today over lunch and will slap them up on the gas pump every time I fill up. I’ve had it with these Democrat green-energy con artists costing my family thousands of dollars we don’t have.

    “Thanks Obama!” “$4.39? Thanks Democrats!”

Build a refinery in North Dakota next to a rail station.

  • Gary

If Barky is too stubborn to bring the oil to the refinery, then bring the refinery to the oil.

Do Democrats care about this country? I mean seriously, do they care about the welfare of the people here? Or are they simply killing this country simply because they are in opposition to the right? Do they think this is funny?

I have no problem with alternative fuels. The more the better. But dammit, we do not have any viable alt fuels right now. I can’t afford to pay $40K for some stupid battery powered car. I also can’t afford to keep paying the gasoline prices that these effing idiots seem perfectly happy with. More oil on the market will have the effect of driving the cost down due to supply. If only symbolically.

There is no reason for us to be paying more than $2.50 for gas. The only reason we do is because the government wants it that way.

And no I do not care one bit that the socialists in Europe pay $10 a gallon. Just because the rest of the world pays high prices doesn’t mean that the U.S. has to. Particularly if given a chance to “drill baby drill” we could be the highest producer in the world.

Jim, check the roll. A substantial #of Donks voted for and Thugs voted against, e.g., Manchin and Rubio respectively.

Beginning to think Rubio has been in discussions with Romany.

  • bman

My very quiet senator Pat Roberts makes the news. Way to go Pat, now get out there and kick some ass.

  • Sinistar

Interesting… Although Sen. Rand Paul voted for it, you had Sen. Mike Lee, Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Jim DeMint voting against it.

Here are all the Republicans that voted against the measure, if anyone is interested:
    Brown (R-MA), Collins (R-ME), Corker (R-TN), DeMint (R-SC), Lee (R-UT), Rubio (R-FL) and Snowe (R-ME)

  • STL Tix

Interesting to note our McKaskill (D-MO) has voted for it, hoping to get back some of her lost support.

WAY too little & WAY too late Claire, we remember & can’t wait for November!

Given a dozen options to create real jobs and security for the US, oBama’rats will always choose the one that hurts America most.
    Enough already.
    I want my Country back.

I am convinced that an economic crisis is part of the Demoncrats plans to subvert the constitutional order in the USA. They may not all be aware of it, but they are good minions, taking orders from their hidden “leaders”, so what they understand matters little.

  • Bob

The pipeline will cause American midwest farmers to pay more for gas.
Do your research and help our country.

  • The Republican Nay’s Were:
    Corker (R-TN)
    Lee (R-UT)
    Rubio (R-FL)
    Snowe (R-ME)

    I’m utterly confused by Rubio.

  • rabble-rouser

Those rat bastards. Easy for them, they don’t have to drive back n forth to work. The just climb into a limo.

  • Tim in Cali

At least now, they’re on the record..can’t run from that…Let the SuperPac commercials begin !!

  • people are stupid

Please stop the stupidity. Does anyone watch Tv or read a paper? The company that proposes to build this wonderful pipeline states in their glut of media paperwork, before Congress, that the price of gas will rise for Midewesterns after the line is built somewhere between 40 and 50 cents a gallon. When pressed to say if the pipeline oil that is to be refined here would be sold here, the company had to admit, no their intentions were not to sell it here. 833,000 barrels of oil a day. We will not see a drop of that. Are any new refineries built to handle this? No. So who do you think is going to wait to have their oil refined, Canadian oil, or American Oil. american oil of course, so we the comsuner can be charged a hire rate. By the time this is all settled and oil flowing the average driver will easily be paying a dollar more a gallon, and every excuse in the book will be used to blame some smuck that had.has no control over it to begin with. There is more than I and many know about this bill. Look at the roll call. Demint. Rubio, Lee-UT, voted against it, something doesn’t make sense! I’ll march over broken glass for Demint & Lee, Rubio, maybe jusy hot sand. Yeah, Snow & Collions of Me. also?

    Something does make sense!

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

Note to the Stupid Party: Notice how the Democrats pretty much all stood firm in their opposition?

Remember this the next time there’s something they want that you oppose (or are supposed to oppose).

  • YourMaster

Give the dems another taste of 2010 by throwing them all out of office
….and never vote for or elect another democrat UNLESS…
they change their tune on fossil fuels, drilling and using our own resources.
….they should have to grovel and beg for 70 yrs…
so that something in their ideology of ‘tax the rich and green energy’ changes
    because neither work.

and it’s getting annoying to hear them keep bringing it up every 2 yrs or so…
….to really piss off the liberals…. make the bush tax cuts -permanent- and irreversible.
so that every day hence forth they can no longer leech off the wealthy or the more productive members of our society.
