Monday evening Senate Democrats once again blocked a measure that would prohibit infanticide.
Senators voted 53-44 on a bill from Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) that would penalize doctors who fail to “exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.
Democrat Senators Joe Manchin (WV), Doug Jones (AL), and Bob Casey (PA) voted with Republicans to proceed the bill.
A few weeks ago, Democrats blocked the same legislation and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Monday made the same arguments that the Democrats made last week –this vote is just a part of a pattern for Republicans to misrepresent a bill.
Democrats argued that we already have laws against infanticide in this country.
The Hill reported:
“This vote does not occur in a vacuum. … Pay attention to the facts and not false rhetoric. This bill is Washington politics at its worst,” Schumer said.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who is Catholic, released a statement after the vote saying he opposed the bill because GOP statements about it are “misleading.”
“Congress reaffirmed that fact with its passage of the bipartisan Born-Alive Infants Protection Act in 2002. I support that law, which is still in effect. There is no need for additional federal legislation on this topic,” Kaine said.
2020 Democrat presidential candidates Senators Kamala Harris (CA), Bernie Sanders (VT), Cory Booker (NJ), Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Amy Klobuchar (MN), and Elizabeth Warren (MA) all voted “NO” on this bill that would have required doctors to provide proper degree of care to babies born alive after attempted abortion.
Ben Sasse tried to pass the bill after Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) created a firestorm with his endorsement of late-term abortion and infanticide.
“In Virginia, disgraced Governor Ralph Northam tarnished the American idea of equality under law. He betrayed the universal truth of human dignity and he turned the stomaches of civilized people not just in this country but in every country on Earth,” Ben Sasse said.
Democrat Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran recently sponsored a bill that would allow a woman to terminate her pregnancy up to 40 weeks in utero.
When asked if a woman can have an abortion at the time she is in labor and dilating, Kathy Tran responded, “My bill would allow that, yes.”
Ralph Northam, who is now barely hanging onto his Governor’s seat after a photo of him in either blackface or a KKK robe surfaced, sent shock waves across the country a couple weeks ago when he agreed with Kathy Tran’s late-term abortion bill and actually endorsed infanticide.
“So in this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Northam said.
This means babies could potentially be murdered in the birth canal and if they are born alive — several Democrats RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT support it — truly scary and barbaric.
President Trump blasted the Senate Democrats for their support of infanticide in a pair of tweets Monday night calling their position “shocking.”
