Even though Baldwin had tweeted gay bashing slurs prior to being hired by MSNBC, it was his continued gay bashing behavior that did him in:

The rage-aholic’s weekly show, “Up Late With Alec Baldwin,” has been canceled because of the actor’s foul-mouthed rant at a photographer he called a nasty name.
When will Capital One follow MSNBC’s lead and cancel their relationship with Spokesbigot, Alec Baldwin? Thankfully, Capital One has two Twitter accounts through which to ask the question. @CapitalOne and @AskCapitalOne
