The RNC just came out with a new video summing up the dynamics of last night’s presidential debate.  It’s called “Smirk”, but it could have been called “Smug”.  While Obama got schooled by Mitt Romney, he maintained a continuous display of smug expressions.

The Washington Examiner reported,

That didn’t take long. Exactly 12 hours after the first presidential debate ended, the Republican National Committee has released a new web video that zooms in on what pundits are calling his “smirk” at many of challenger Mitt Romney’s lines Wednesday night.

From the RNC: “Good morning, we’re out with a new video ‘Smirk’ highlighting the president’s debate performance where he was visibly uncomfortable as he struggled to give Americans answers on how he’ll turn our country around with another four years. As Morning Joe said this morning – it appeared as if Obama thought debating was beneath him.”

  1. Committed liars tend to avoid eye contact and smirk… a lot. Barry don’t like to be confronted with HIS record. He broke it… he owns it.

  2. Well no movement on Rasmussen today except for Obama extending his lead in swing states to +6 (ugh). Of course these results do not reflect any post-debate responses at all. Still shows how prior to the debates this thing was really starting to slip away.

Amazing how the MSM could create a completely fictional Mitt Romney that low information voters believed in.

Could Mitt Romney be THIS smart to have actually been playing rope-a-dope all this time, getting Obama to punch himself out all the while knowing he would save the best for the 2 minute drill? I mean, Romney was SO much better last night than we have ever seen him. He obviously has the same brain he had a week ago. Could he have been intentionally holding back like a man who is accustomed to laying out a strategic plan and sticking with it despite the noise?

  3. This is one of the most powerful statements I have ever seen in politics. Go Mitt!

  4. I expect the media fact-checkers to go full 4 Pinocchios on Romney today, stating with a straight face that while he was “factually correct” he was “misleading” and therefore “false”.

  5. This is a replay of 2008, Barry was just as smug and condescending in the primaries and the debates then as now. I am really surprised that he didn’t give Romney one of his trademark “bird” gestures at the schooling he was given.

  6. Awesome ad and summary of the debate and Obama’s four years. . .

Even better is that Angry Big mama Moochele had encouraged people to tune into the debates last night and see the debate (see last paragraph). . .
    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/mrs-obama-barack-has-done-phenomenal-job-working-around-congress

    Wonder how many watched it?

And she said Barack has to work around Congress. . .if so then he has failed. . and Romney will win BIG!!

  7. A real President showed up last night, the other one merely voted “present”. Last night clearly showed that the Emperor has no clothes ( or vision other than well worn talking points) The only thing that could have made it any better is if Mitt would have highlighted every State where Republican Governors have adopted Conservative principles and are exceding the national average in lowering debt and unemployment. Most of those states happen to be swing states, ie Ohio. He could have used California (not France or Greece) as being emblematic of how Democratic policies are driving them to the brink of bankruptsy.

The Gov has to stay on offence, Ozero is lost without his teleprompter, or paid adoring crowds and meaningless talking points.

  8. “He’p me, Somebody he’p me!” He looked like Clevon Little in the quicksand pit in Blazzing Saddles looking for Lehrer to throw him a rope to rescue him for the Romney assalt on his record.

  9. The body language on Obama is amazing – fast blinking, gulping when swallowing, looking down, looking around as if pleading for help that wasn’t coming, and the constant grimace on his face. Obama showed he is nothing more than a petulant child who got caught lying, and now he’s been called on it in front of his playmates.

But the best by far is the photo Drudge has up of Moo-chelle on stage last night. Looks like big mamma had to come down off the stoop and threaten the neighbor kids for teasing lil barackie. She is not happy.

  10. Narcissitic believes he above every other president or candidate , he shouldn’t have debate anyone he’s “special” the first black-president….

  11. After OBOZO’s devastating, humiliating loss in the first debate with Romney over IDEAS (which is ALWAYS a major weakness of d-cRAT socialist extremists), the OBOZO campaign has come up with a way for them to do better in the next debate. Instead of the sending in their tiny, little man to spout his old tired baseless leftist cliches, they will simply place AN EMPTY CHAIR behind his podium. The chair certainly couldn’t do worse than OBOZO – and might even do better.

  12. Perhaps next debate, Ozero will skip to appear on Bill Maher’s show or meet with some Gangsta Rapper and just have the Gov debate an empty chair, it coulnt be any worse

  13. Will take another 3 days to appears in Rasmussen

  14. Of curse Cmrade Barry’s smirking. He is doing to America exactly what Romney was accusing him of doing. It’s the Cloward-Piven strategy to bring about violent revolution through nudging the middle class into chaos.

  15. Yowza – my typing:
Of course Comrade Barry’s smirking. He is doing to America exactly what Romney was accusing him of doing. It’s the Cloward-Piven strategy to bring about violent revolution through nudging the middle class into chaos.

  16. Obama has never looked less presidential. Obama has been campaign on the same words and attacks for the past 4 years. Yes, without the teleprompter he is a lost soul.

And when you were a novice in 08 and others said he will get his feet when others inform in on the job of a President, well, Obama floundered and felt that all he had to do is purpose something and it would be done. Never considering learning about the views of others and then off to another speech read straight from his best friend, trusted friend the teleprompter.

Smirk, he was actually more like a lost puppy and couldn’t find his way back home. And with no applause and no support other than his words, words that just didn’t make sense, his ego was actually deflating right before our eyes.

    Bam! Slam! Pow! Crash! BOOM!

There was a surreal moment after the debate last night. On CNN, the polling went overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney among debate watchers. Basically two-thirds of the American public who watched the debate claimed Romney won. A majority claimed Romney was with them on taxes, the economy, healthcare, their views of government, etc. He dominated.

A CBS poll of undecided voters who watched the debate mirrored the CNN poll.

Suddenly the Democrats took to the airwaves and twitter to rail against the polls oversampling Republicans and being too heavily skewed, too instant to be meaningful, and clearly not an accurate statistical sample of anything.

About the same time Barack Obama’s campaign team was melting down on television, the campaign sent out an email that did not even mention the Presidential debate. It just wanted more money.

The debate was so bad for Barack Obama I expect Eric Holder to send Jim Lehrer to GTMO. Barack Obama suddenly agrees with Republicans on defunding PBS. Without his precious TelePrompTer to feed his Gollumesque addiction to its illuminated, precious words, the President fell flat. Instead of John Kerry for a debate partner, the President should have just gone through airport security a few times or embraced BOHICA as a debate preparation strategy.

Put it to you this way, within ten minutes of the debate ending, Jessica Yellin of CNN spoke with Stephanie Cutter of the Obama campaign. Ms. Cutter conceded up front that Mitt Romney won on both debate preparation and debate style. It went downhill from there. She began parroting talking points about the debate she herself released to Obama surrogate at sun up yesterday morning. She had nothing new to add.

Mitt Romney had substance, counterarguments for Barack Obama’s points, rebuttals, and a friendly manner. Barack Obama kept his head down at the podium and refused to make eye contact with Mitt Romney. This too is what Barack Obama did with the economy and Libya.

Barack Obama, at one point, interrupted Jim Lehrer and asked Lehrer to move on to a new topic. It was a brilliant metaphor for what Barack Obama did coming into office. He looked at the economy and decided to move on to Obamacare. His whole career has been one of passing the buck, shifting blame, and failing to take responsibility for tough challenges. He did the same last night.

For four years, Barack Obama has rarely been challenged and he handled it poorly last night. He was ill prepared, flustered easily, and came off as petulant. At some point we should expect the empty chair to ask Barack Obama to take a vacation day and let it debate instead.

I think the explanation for Obama’s performance is pretty simple. Gods in the cult of personality do not like to come off Olympus to be challenged by mere mortals.

There is an important point, however, for Republicans. This was one debate. This was not the election. Mitt Romney showed he can do it. But the campaign needs your help now more than ever. Every penny helps. I guarantee you we are about to see the media resurrect the “Obama is the underdog” theme and, in the meantime, look for most media polls to suddenly have a D+20 sample.

Mitt Romney did fantastic last night.

    Kudos!!

  18. Ugh. I watched the debate, but seeing this up close just makes you detest his petulant incompetence. I feel sorry for him having to find his way in the private sector. He is a mess. There is only one serious candidate now .
