Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney in Missouri following Todd Akin’s controversial comments on rape. Less than one month ago Romney led Obama 50 – 44.

Akin went on with Charles Jaco on Sunday to talk about “legitimate rape” and the wonders of the female anatomy.

Rasmussen
reported:

As the controversy over Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” comment continues, Mitt Romney’s lead in Missouri has vanished.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters finds President Obama with 47% support to Romney’s 46%. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided.

Claire McCaskill also leads the senate race now 48-38 against unelectable Todd Akin.

The latest word is that despite losing all national support and all funding Todd Akin will not step down.

  1. Two things:

    1) Obama ain’t winning Missouri. At best, this is a momentary blip when people in the state are inundated with Achin’ coverage. Remember, even McCain won this state in 2008.

    2) If God forbid this isn’t a blip, then rest assured the Romney campaign and the RNC will either drag Achin’ out of this thing kicking and screaming or field a write-in candidate so it’s clear to the electorate that they in no way endorse this nutcase.

  2. If they are reporting it this close…Its a Romney win…independents will fall for Romney, they oversample dummycrats, there is little enthusiam among dummies, and the economy sucks and all the trends are not good for the Big-eared one!

Down Goes Obama, Down goes Obama….

  3. Thanks Todd Akin? That’s a stretch isn’t it? I’ve watched polls daily and they move like a teeter-totter. One has to wonder what questions are asked and who they heck they are sampling.

  4. Jim, you really need a Valium!

  5. Jim are you such a hoser you don’t know when your being used?

Give him a break, think of country before self.

you are a selfish prick if not against the Democrat.

    powder is dry

  6. Oh crap.

And people – (a) not every “true conservative” believes or agrees with the views on abortion and rape that this ONE GUY Akin has, and I’m getting sick and tired of being told that if you don’t, you’re not a conservative.

And (b) Jim is from Missouri. He’s watching the goings on with this guy in his state screw it up for everybody, for all of us, and possibly for our entire future.

    So get off his case.

  7. Obama didn’t win Missouri in 2008 and he sure isn’t going to win MO this year.
By November, Todd Akin’s rape thing will be a distant memory. People are suffering from the effects of ObamaClaire McCaskill. Obama’s economy sucks. 24,000,000 are unemployed.
Gas and grocery prices are going through the roof. Another recession is predicted for 2013.
Obama wants to keep escalating the debt. In short ObamaClaire are bent on destroying America.
The ECONOMY and JOBS are foremost in voters minds. That means both Obama & Claire McCaskill will lose their jobs.

  8. I don’t believe this poll…

    I am calling BS

  9. Alana-well said.

  10. I’m not in MO but if I were I would still vote for Akin, because getting McCaskill out of the Senate is way more important than anything he said. Look at her record and then decide.
Do I think maybe he’s a trojan horse? It’s possible, but he still wo’nt be the Obama bootlicker that Claire is.
I mean really, Obama and Biden and the rest of the Dems have said much worse than this guy has and I’m a woman and I’m not having the vapors over it.

  11. I have to ask. How big an impact did the constant drumbeat from our own party against Akin have, which produced these results?

  12. What one now must consider is that he must be taken out by a write-in candidate. You can’t leave him win as he would be more toxic to the Republican party than the Democrat.

  13. They had no reason to come out and vote for McCasket.

Now they have a reason to come out and vote AGAINST Akin.

    Same effect. Higher Dem turnout.

  14. This election is up to the people of Missouri. Not the left coasts. Not the liberal, lying media. Not the hysterical Democrats from around the nation.

You have a choice. You can choose to hold an asinine comment made by a politician, who made the same mistake most people make of engaging their mouth before their brains, to the highest of standards and turn your back on him (you will be spiting not Akin, but yourselves).

Or, you can vote for a very liberal, Obama sycophant, who voted for Obamacare, which mandates free abortion for all and forces contraception and abortients against a person’s religious beliefs. The first of many mandates I’m afraid.

You have to decide which is the greater evil. From the sound of it, many so-called conservatives are following the politically correct, left wing elements like a gaggle of geese.

  15. and Romney will deserve the loss because he is the one who got the FOX A holes their set of KILL Akin talking point orders…..Mitt still thinks its the primaries where the #1 goal is to lynch and character assassinate the ” right wing ” of the republican party. Mitt thinks government can be run like a corporation….that if the people nominate a Senate candidate he don’t… he can just step in and use his command of the party to take that person out and appoint somebody his gang wants. Abortion is an issue many Republicans take very seriously and Romney is exposing just how a fake and a fraud he is on moral issues in a state that Rick Santorum WON. There are all kinds of key races around the country and Romney focuses his resources on re-electing McCasKILL. He’s lucky to only lose 6 points, but keep taking that Bob Dole advice and make it 12 by Monday !

  16. This is a just a reflexive action. Romney will take the lead again.

  17. Obama may not win Missouri, but Akin is not winning that Senate seat. He went from being 10 points ahead in the polls to 10 points behind and McCaskill hasn’t even started running rape ads yet. Seriously, don’t delude yourself into thinking that she’ll let the people of Missouri forget about this.

  18. Alana. Hoft’s a grown man and can take any criticism thrown his way. He doesn’t need you. People do have a right to disagree with him and to express that disagreement. Whether people agree with him or not, he continues to have their respect.

  19. Akin is a democrat plant. Most definitely. He needs to go if Obama is closing the gap in MO and STL and KCMO has not even put voter fraud in the mix.

  20. Interesting to see the full range of sanity on display here.

From insightful all the way over to donh-level crazy.
