If Akin takes down the GOP machine who have behaved as nothing more than a bunch of fairweather spineless sell outs over this issue I can not say that I am going to miss them and I look foward to something bigger and better that prizes constitutional record over pop culture rhetoric taking over.

FYI : The Hon Rep Todd Akin has his fax machines turned off. All of them. I’ve been attempting to fax him since yesterday AM but there is no answer. (?)
Does this sound like a congressman who gives a s–t about what you think? I don’t.
Ragspierre commented:
“Republicans said he had worked largely with a campaign team made up of his wife and a son, in addition to an outside consultant from Ohio who has put together his advertising. (Mr. Akin’s campaign aides declined to respond to repeated requests for comment.)”
Yep. A real pro. That organization would explain his idiot messaging disaster.

I think this guy is a democrat. You couldn’t come up with a better scheme than paying this idiot to muck everything up for the GOP.
Outstanding plan democrats. Well played.

There’s also a homorous Pod cast on AOSHQ about Akin, go listen.

Pretty well sums it up. Regardless of whether you agree with Akin’s statement (as some here apparently do) or not, or if one doesn’t think it is a big deal, does Akin & supporters really think he is electable? What purpose does it serve to stay in the race if he can’t get elected? Does he want what is best for Missouri? Does he want to get rid of Obama? What is he thinking he can possibly accomplish at this point? He said what he said. Fair or not (depending on your point of view) this statement has provided fodder for the Democrats to seriously hurt Republican efforts to change where our country is going. As irritated as I get with the Party, I believe they are right in asking Akin to get out. IMO, its the right thing to do. So is Akin thinking about Missouri and our country or himself?

As I stated in another post,
Something tells me that he’s going to step down on a Friday or Saturday night when no one is paying attention. Rasmussen is the most accurate of all polling centers, and these numbers are just the beginning of the bad news that could affect, not only the Senate race, but the Governors race in Missouri.
Big picture politics is more important than one individuals desire for office.
Patty commented:
The Obama campaign and other Democrats have accused Republicans of waging a “war on women” by trying to restrict access to abortion and contraceptives. On Tuesday, the Republican platform committee in Tampa approved an anti-abortion plank that doesn’t include an exception for rape. The Democratic National Committee quickly labeled it the “Akin plank.”

One man, his words, his fate and the cheese stands alone. Really the truth of the matter is, RNC convention must be a stance on Obama. His failures, his spending, his failed policies, his socializing of our health care, his reduction of our military, his cover ups, his using his power without Congress, his killing energy and our natural resources in regulations and it paperwork, his destroying religious freedoms, talk about these things.
Talk about Obama as I see it we have a world of problems and all thanks to Obama.

Patty commented:
Such, it appears, is Todd Akin. He’s given plenty of indications he remains open to leaving the field. Now is the time for kind, unassuming—and private—persuasion by conservatives, by pro-life and pro-marriage advocates, by serious people who’ve worked with Akin and by his fellow Missourians. I have reason to believe that’s now beginning to happen behind the scenes. And I suspect that by the Democratic convention, by Labor Day, Akin will have stepped aside.

I am ashamed to be in the same party as those SoCALLED conservatives who have made such hateful statements. My goodness, never that in my wildest dreams the dirt flew over the coco nest. And in flaming negativity.
The just it rock bottom. And what a disgrace. They could have gone about this in a much gentler way. Talk about kicking someone down like some filthy dog.
I realize that words are taken out of context and too often we don’t give someone the benefit of the doubt but this thread is repulsive. No matter who the party affiliation is, we true Conservative don’t play like that.
Patty commented:
Well, as some here have said about my comments. Scrolling past this thread.
Jason commented:
I don’t understand why the GOP, as an organization, cannot make a major disavowment of the Senator and simply kick him out of the party – literally kick him out – tell him he now longer is a member of the party, period. And that would end any further associations between him and what the Democrats are trying to turn it into, linking him to anyone else running on the GOP ticket. If he’s hurting the party, then the party should just literally boot him out, revoke his membership, period, even taking it to court if that had to.
Patty commented:
Oh, and now it is a featured story. Wow.
