Nearly 2 Years After Beating – Kenneth Gladney Case Goes to Trial Tomorrow

After a health care town hall meeting in August 2009 St. Louis native Kenneth Gladney was beaten, kicked and called racist names by Rep. Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters. Gladney was beaten so badly that he was hospitalized for the night.

Gladney, a cancer survivor, was selected by the Carnahan supporters for the beatdown because he was handing out “Don’t Tread On Me” flags and because he was black.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported at the time:

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

The national media and NAACP ignored the hate crime.
Gladney didn’t fit the mold.

Kenneth Gladney was beaten by several SEIU thugs in the parking lot. He was working outside the town hall event selling flags and buttons when he was attacked.

Although he was too weak to speak after his public beating, Kenneth Gladney attended the protest against SEIU violence following his beatdown in St. Louis.

In April 2010 the SEIU thugs seen pummeling Kenneth Gladney in the video pleaded not guilty.

The trial is set for tomorrow.
CBS Local reported:

Twenty-months after he claims he was beaten by two union activists, while he tried to sell conservative buttons outside a Congressman Russ Carnahan town hall forum on health care reform, Kenneth Gladney now has a court date.

The case against two Service Employees International Union members accused of attacking Gladney is scheduled for July 11th, according to St. Louis County Counselor Patricia Reddington.

SEIU members Elston McCowan and Perry Molens are charged with misdemeanor assault . Both men pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial.

Earlier, Gladney had complained that the delay in scheduling a trial was “political” and he pointed the blame at Reddington and fellow Democrat, County Executive Charlie Dooley.

Reddington countered that the delay was caused soley by the defendant’s request for a jury trial. Her municipal court system has no jurors, so she had to work with he state courts to set up a court room and a jury, Reddington said.

    Not guilty, huh? Never did care much for a man that would throw a rock and hide his hand.

    I gather Mr. Gladney is not one of Eric Holder’s people. He certainly won’t receive any justice from this administration.

    At last! A trial neither CNN nor Greta will care about!!

    STL is a corrupt democrat city. Any bets on a hung jury?

    I’m even more cynical than you, I say acquittal in less than two hours since the defendants are SEIU.

    i hope justice is served to the 2 animals that beat mr. gladney. god bless him. the main stream media will ignore this case, it doesn’t fit their socialist utopian agenda.

    “Her municipal court system has no jurors…”

    Huh? Never had to prosecute a misdemeanor assault before? What do they usually do, have the bailiff wack his pee-pee?

  • Poor Richard

    Thanks for sticking with this story. I hope the SEIU thugs get swift justice.

    Typical Post-Dispatch coverage. Gladney wasn’t a “conservative activist”. He just went there to sell some flags.

    2 years to sequestor a jury?? For sure the court was stonewalling hoping that the case would be dropped.

  • Conservative Ken

    This case will be tried in the County. Dooley territory if I am not mistaken. I am really praying that Kenneth gets justice.

    I’ll be shocked if this doesn’t end in a hung jury. There’ll be plenty of union sympathizers itching to get on that jury panel and it will only take one to screw things up. If nothing else, at least it’ll get people riled up and remind them what we’re up against.

    Kenneth is a very nice person. I met him while he was traveling on a tea party bus trip, and I even got his autograph on one of my anti-union bully signs. Keep us up on it, Jim.

    God Bless you, Kenneth.

    A politically-motivated beating with racial slurs…

    …is a misdemeanor??!

    God help us.

    Way to focus on a red herring, Nelle. Does it matter whether he was there to protest, sell flags, or just walking down the block? No. What matters is the Union Members saw him and believed he was one of the “conservative activists” and that was what inspired the beating of Ken.

    As I understand Obama and Holder’s America (as it is effectually defined), discrimination can only occur if:

    1. the targeted party is is not white;
    2. the targeted party has never affiliated with the tea party;
    3. the targeted party has never voted Republican;
    4. the targeted party receives most or all of its income from Federal Government social benefit programs;
    5. the targeted party is not male;
    6. the targeted party has never expressed positions critical of President Obama;
    7. the targeted party does not laugh out loud when listening to anything Joe Biden says;
    8. the targeted party does not think independently;
    9. the targeted party is not a Supreme Court justice;
    10. the targeted party has signed releases with the DNC to permit their exploitation in Media Matters campaigns, appropriating their likeness in stories complaining about right-wing harassment, the evils of insufficient taxation, and the obsolescence of the Constitution.

  • Conservative Ken

    The County has every reason to get this trial over quickly. Dooley is a Union hack and his court system will shill for the SEIU goons.

    Kenneth Gladney has stated his belief that the two year wait to go to trial is due to Charlie Dooley’s manipulating the court system. I believe Kenneth is right on target. The corruption goes all the way up the county food chain.

    If this goes the way of the SEIU we need to DIG! Hard and Fast!

    I’m praying for justice for you Kenneth.

  • dunce

    They must not trust the judge if they want a jury trial. Now all they need to do is bribe one juror and they are cheaper than judges.

  • Harold

    The municipal court system had no jurors? WTF? The DA doesn’t have a list of registered voters or a phone book?

    Or the ability to go out on the street and dragoon the first 12 people she meets?

    Biggest bunch of crap I’ve heard (aside from anything coming out of the Obama administration).

  • werbaz neutron

    If SIEU goons are going to beat up conservatives handing out “Don’t Tread On Me” flags at rallies, I gotta attend and get some of those flags and hand them out at such meetings. Bring it on pantywaist goons!
