New details have emerged about the suspicious letter that sent Donald Trump Jr.’s wife, Vanessa Trump, to the hospital Monday.

New York Post reports:

The letter addressed to Donald Trump Jr. that contained a suspicious white powder and landed his wife in the hospital Monday said, “You’re an awful person and now you get what you deserve,” according to law enforcement sources Tuesday.

The note was delivered to the Upper East Side home of Trump Jr.’s mother-in-law around 10 a.m. Monday, sources have said.

The substance turned out to be cornstarch.

Hours after the incident, Trump Jr. broke his silence on the matter, tweeting, “Thankful that Vanessa & my children are safe and unharmed after the incredibly scary situation that occurred this morning. Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior.”

Trump later added, “A special thanks today to the great men & women of the @NYPDnews @FDNY@SecretService @NewYorkFBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force for their decisive action and incredible words of support to my wife and family. Their professionalism under pressure made a rough day manageable.”

According to NBC News:

The letter was addressed to Vanessa Trump’s husband, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of the president and his ex-wife Ivana.

After the letter was opened, three people at the residence were taken to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center strictly as a precaution, the New York City Fire Department said.

There is no indication anyone suffered any injuries; the NYPD said the substance was deemed to be non-hazardous and was taken to a lab for further analysis.

CNN reporter Aaron Katersky reported yesterday that the letter was “was postmarked Boston and included a note that expressed anger.”
