Quran Instructor INDICTED ON SEX ABUSE CHARGES

A man who runs a Portland, Oregon area Quran Islamic school has been arrested and indicted on felony sex abuse charges. Tigard police took Muhammad L. Hasan into custody and booked him in the Washington county jail.

The Oregonian reports:

Investigators have arrested a man who’s accused of abusing two girls who were clients of his religious instruction business, Tigard police say.

Muhammad L. Hasan ran AICQ, a Tigard business that offered private Quran instruction, the city’s police department said in a news release. He was indicted last week and arrested Wednesday.

Hasan’s indictment lists six counts of first-degree sex abuse and a single count of third-degree sex abuse. He’s accused of kissing one of the girls on multiple occasions and touching another’s breast or breasts, according to the document.

Hasan, a 50-year-old Corvallis resident, remains in the Washington County Jail.

Investigators suspect there may be additional alleged victims. Police urge anyone who has information about possible abuse to call 503-718-2677 or email [email protected].

A phone call to the business went straight to voicemail Thursday morning.

According to the Washington County jail inmate roster, Hasan is being held on $150,000 bail.
