Man on Trial For Sexually Assaulting 10-Year-Old Girl in Bathroom – Lawyer Claims ‘My Client Identifies as a Woman’
A Wyoming man named Miguel Martinez who goes by the name ‘Michelle’, lured a 10-year-old little girl into a bathroom and sexually assaulted the child.
Martinez’s public defender said at a previous hearing that her client identifies as a woman named Michelle.
The Billings Gazette reported:
The jury trial for a Casper resident charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl began Monday.
Miguel Martinez faces one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. If found guilty, Martinez could face up to 70 years in prison.
The 10-year-old’s mother reported to Casper police in March that her daughter said Martinez sexually assaulted her in a bathroom.
The girl told police that Martinez, who is a family friend, invited her into the bathroom, touched her breasts and genitalia before penetrating her. Nurses at the Wyoming Medical Center completed a sexual assault exam and found redness and abrasions on the girl’s genitalia.
Martinez actually denied sexually assaulting the little girl when he was arrested and pleaded not guilty in May at his arraignment in Natrona County District Court.
According to the Casper Star Tribune, Martinez is a ‘family friend’ and became very hostile and defensive when a detective was questioning him about the little girls allegations that he had molested her.
Police found Martinez intoxicated and passed out on a couch. According to reports, officers had a hard time waking him up for an interview.
Martinez also blamed the little girl and said she was “talking crap” earlier that day and said her accusations were just a “publicity stunt”.
According to the Star Tribune, if convicted, Martinez could be sentenced to up to a total of 70 years.
