Jacksonville police have arrested two men for attempting to steal a utility pole. The arrest comes as the North Florida city is still flooded by Hurricane Irma.Â

Fox 30 reports that Jacksonville Sheriff’s deputies arrested the men, who they photographed sitting next to their SUV in handcuffs, with the pole still atop their vehicle.

The sheriff’s office did not say what the men would be charged with, but credited watchful citizens with helping to catch the would-be bandits.
No word on why the men wanted to steal the pole in the first place.

Florida police are shaming ‘Hurricane Irma looters’ on social media. Not only do they deserve shame, but hefty prison sentences, if found guilty.

With looters in Florida braving the torrential rains and winds of Hurricane Irma to steal a few things over the weekend from boarded-up stores, local police forces are issuing this warning: You will be caught.
The Miami-Dade County Police Department says officers have made nearly 30 arrests so far of people trying to make off with electronics, sports equipment, cellphones and more from local businesses that locked their doors to escape the storm.
To try to curtail some of the looting, Miami police issued a curfew Saturday that runs from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The curfew gives officers the right to stop anyone spotted on the streets to question them on why they are out during the storm.
Miami police took to Twitter to publicly shame some of those they have arrested, posting a picture of a group of accused looters sitting in a police holding area.

Despite dangerous winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Irma, several looting incidents have been reported in Fort Lauderdale.
Local 10 cameras caught a group breaking into the Simon’s Sportswear on Sunrise Blvd. and Powerline Road.
The group of about 8-9 people broke through the front window and were seen walking in and then walking out with stolen items.
A group then began looting a Footlocker in the same area. It’s not known whether the groups were the same.
