Getting away with murder in Chicago:
Chicago Police Solved Just 26 Percent of the City’s 472 Homicides in 2015
But wait. It gets worse.
If you just shoot and wound someone, but don’t kill them, you have a 90% chance of getting away without even being charged!
Detectives had even less success solving the 2,021 nonfatal shootings in Chicago last year. Only 9.5 percent of those shootings were “cleared” by detectives.
Maybe it’s time to try another approach.
One thing that would improve the situation…put an end to #DontSnitch culture. The cops can’t catch the bad guys all by themselves. If the community chooses to live by a credo that prevents them from cooperating with authorities then they should expect more of the same.
In the meantime, try to look at the glass as 9.5% full instead of 90.5% empty?
