Thanks Barack. Wal-Mart to Drop Insurance for New Hires

Remember when Obama told you, over and over again, that you could keep your insurance under Obamacare.

It was a lie. Obama knew it was a lie.
He knew Obamacare would replace private policies. That was the plan all along.
Wal-MArt announced this week they would end insurance for new hires.
The Huffington Post reported:

Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post. …

Walmart declined to disclose how many of its roughly 1.4 million U.S. workers are vulnerable to losing medical insurance under its new policy. …

Labor and health care experts portrayed Walmart’s decision to exclude workers from its medical plans as an attempt to limit costs while taking advantage of the national health care reform known as Obamacare. Among the key features of Obamacare is an expansion of Medicaid, the taxpayer-financed health insurance program for poor people. Many of the Walmart workers who might be dropped from the company’s health care plans earn so little that they would qualify for the expanded Medicaid program, these experts said.

That’ll sit well. Make $16 billion and can’t afford healthy insurance for your workers.

No matter. They can now buy insurance on the exchanges. And Wal Mart has shot themselves in the foot.

Along with Applebees, Olive Garden, Papa John,s, Denny’s.

Good times watching you right wingers and your heroes implode.

  • jharp

Oh, and I hope you’re right that ObamaCare replaces private policies.

Right wing problem, give me a break. When a worker has such low skills they must make a career working at Wal-Mart, they must realize that they are not worth the $7,500 mandated healthcare program or the $2,000 fine. ObamaCare has now mandate the new standard of 29 hours a week with food stamps and Medicaid. This was want Obama wanted all along and he got it. America is the loser.

Entirely foreseeable, of course, as businesses never take on unnecessary costs. Stupid Obama supporters will now deny it, but of course it was always part of the plan to bankrupt private insurers and end up with a single national government insurance on the European model.

Unfortunately, the Euro-model depended upon the free market system of the US to create new drugs and devices but the cost controls required by government health care will destroy this as well. Welcome the Death Panels, it’s a Brave New World.

jharp. Get a life you fricking moron. Obama intends to bankrupt our country with his Obamacare. It was all a big lie being able to keep your own doctor and your own plan. The guy is a compulsive liar and you need to get your head out of your a%s! I didn’t vote for the scumbag but I’ll bet you did and now all of us will have to suffer through the next four years along with your miserable a%s with the mounting tax debt he’s going to lay on us and the massive regulations he’ll impose through executive orders. I firmly believe he wants to bring the

Accepting JHarp’s Blue Model premise; which providers will take the ‘expanded’ Medicare? The same providers that make no money off it as it is and don’t accept it now?

Or, does OBAMACARE’S rainbow & unicorn clause suddenly make Medicare-Medicaid reimbursements cost effective for medical providers?

He has made the point that there are some things that only the government can do. What he didn’t mention was it could, and would, collapse the private insurance industry so the government would have to step in. That was the purpose of these state exchanges all along. To have a platform in place for a single payer system once the private system was destroyed. Quiet frankly the people that voted for this deserve what they are about to get. They are too stupid to be a free people.

Name one private insurer who has “collapsed” never mind you claimed it would do it the entire industry.

Get a clue dumbsh*t. Private insurance just got 30 million new customers.

And if ObamaCare is so unpopular why did voters soundly reject the candidate that promised to repeal it?

Yes, I do. And you obviously don’t. Single payer is Medicare. ObamaCare is not Medicare for all.

ObamCare is private insurance offered to consumers on exchanges set up by each state.

A state can design it to best fit it’s needs. Except the red states. The red states have opted to let the federal govt set up and operate their exchanges.

    And that is hilarious!

Good luck redstaters, with your federally run health care exchanges.

  • More liberty

Obama is just another corporatist pig. He pushes through a law that forces every person to purchase the product if his big insurance buddies. Not only that, he buddied up with big pharma so they’d support Obamacare by forbidding the importation of European and Asian drugs.

This was bamsters plans all along and it’s coming together perfectly.
All companies will eventually dump all employees and bamster will say hey look at all them meanies only worried about the dollars they make and not the poor workers.
The final nail will be when he then says, we have no choice but to nationalize the insurance companies for single payer.
This is why Rush said he wanted him to fail.

  • Summer Love

No Jharp . I live in a nation that has Single Payer as base . It means EVERY person pays a health tax . This is used to fund general health systems .

Extra Private insurance is highly recommended & is tax penalized for those over 30 & earning over 50,000.

The OCA is as yet a concept that the American citizen has not grasped because it has not happened yet. It s like asking if you like white bread Whole grain bread or the new lime green variety coming in 2014.

BTW Birth control are not covered by Health insurance nor is Viagra.

The Federal Govt does buy all the nations pharma & gets a good price therefore they are cheaper than in the US .

Young people are usually quite healthy & are not a insurance burden . However their not paying full amount weakens the gross pool & therefore there wil be less for all. This wil bite down the track.

In all there is a rapidly declining amount of money available for health care. Patients across America will not have the choices they had .

Walmart does a good service in providing low cost access . Perhaps the new mployees wil get a discount at their booths.

Ever deal with a bureaucracy that hasn’t made up its mind on what they’re going to require? I have. We had to buy special equipment in order to be compliant. We bought the equipment and began using it. The following month they changed their mind. Guess who didn’t get compensated? Goverment is the biggest waste of money. Forget about having many new, and even current, drugs, available. We are already seeing a shortage in some cancer and other drugs. The progs have managed to demonize Big Pharma knowing their ignorant masses have no clue as to how expensive it is to develop and then bring new drugs to the general public and that most of their profits go back into new research.

Those companies who develop and manufacture medical devices such as prosthetics are looking at high taxation so any new research and development in that sector will most likely decline.

Our great leader’s actions in talking about Romney/republicans/business owners(didn’t build that) is in itself enough of an example. There is no effort at all to try to talk civilly or persuade those who do not agree with you–witness how Obamacare was passed by Congress. Healthcare in this nation is on a spiral downward. Medicaid will be coverage that takes you forever to see a doctor and will be a plan that offers doctors who are less than the best at their craft.
The good part of this, is how the income cheaters will now be caught. and it ain’t the rich guys, it is those who make tips, work under the table. the couples who live together and do a separate returns.

The major point here is jharp believe private exchanges will replace privately insured employer plans, with no cost to the gov’t (state or fed’l), while the Walmart example clearly shows the private exchanges are a non-issue, as nobody needs to sign up for them if they 1) work less than 30 hours per weeks and 2) make under 3x poverty limit ($60k / yr), in which case they qualify for Medicaid, paid for mostly with Federal $ thru 2019, at which states are on the hook for their customary 50% of the tab. Where the states will get the $ is a mystery, where the US Treasury will get the $ is not: we will print, confiscate 401k’s, tax everything that moves, & cut costs to the bone.

jharp is just a liberal troll who doesn’t know anything that he doesn’t hear on Rachel Maddow.

  • JT

Of course the entire ObamaCare program was designed to crash the private commercially insured segment of healthcare. The more lives are enrolled in Medicaid (with it’s federally mandated nominal pricing structure (i.e. – you will charge us what we TELL you WE will pay) the HIGHER the privately insured covered lives will need to pay to keep the H/C system afloat. When enough lives are covered through Medicaid, private insurance will cease to be a viable option. Private plans will cost $40k per year per life & it will be cheaper to simply pay cash. This has already happened in NY State.

Not sure how SCOTUS decision impacts obligation of states to comply with the 3x poverty eligibility rule but it’s clear to me Obama & his cronies have some poison pills up their sleeves to force compliance.

Things are going to get extremely ugly.

Obamacare: Seven New Taxes on Citizens Earning Less than $250,000

    […………..]

The Surtax on Investment Income for households earning $250,000 and more, beginning in 2013, will raise the Capital Gains Tax from 15% to 23.8% on investment income for these households and will raise Taxes on Dividends from 15% to 43.4% for the same households. Aside from the impact on retired citizens dependent on dividends, this provision will pull income from the private economy. In addition, the tax rate on Other Investment Income earned by Subchapter S Corporation (which many small business are organized as, allowing the owners to claim all business income as personal income) will rise from 35% to 43.4%. This part of the provision would place additional pressure on small businesses resulting in more layoffs and less hiring, impacting all American workers.

All but one of the remaining new taxes in Obamacare are directed at health industry businesses and while they will not impact middle income families directly, the additional costs will most likely be passed on to the public. The last new tax is really interesting, it is a tax on certain biofuels!

These are the facts. It does not matter if you support Mr. Obama and his new law or if you oppose it, the new taxes on the middle class or real and all Americans should understand their impact on their families and the economy. Citizens, regardless of political beliefs, should recognize that Obamacare was passed with almost no sunlight shined on these middle class tax increases and need to understand that the new law was sold with the promise that there would be no new middle class taxes. This is not partisan, it is simply the reality of politics.

Haven’t linked to the article as yet but after reading some comments on another blog awhile back, and listening to people in interviews not knowing what is socialism, is, in itself disturbing. Most seemed to think it has something to do with socializing. How many of the respondents to this survey are just as ill informed, is anyone’s guess.

I think we have to face the fact that we have been complacent on just what is taught, or not taught, our children in government schools for far too long and if we are to save future generations something must be done at the local level because it surely isn’t going to happen at the federal level.

That is much better than going Bankrupt like Obama is pointing the USA towards!

Liberals could not survive without conservatives who fuel the economic engine but on the other hand conservatives could get along just dandy without liberals!

Exactly, the local level is truly where the people MUST considerate on. Seriously, if the Republican candidates don’t start pushing this in their district we are done. We cannot allow our greatness be lost and inactive American or an uninformed one should be voting in my opinion. They will and their children will and it is one vicious circle. Our candidates in our state must be checked an re-checked. Their past, present as well as their promises for the future. If they aren’t working for the people, discard them like yesterday’s trash.

We know good people we when see them and we must continue to work hard from the bottom up and so should all Americans. WE NEED TO FIND GREATNESS.

    # 71 Correction: NOT BE VOTING. OF COURSE THEY WILL and you see what we have now. Attacks, enablers, indoctrinations, blame game, entitlements and America is going no where fast.

Everyone is wanting to down Wal-mart, lol, simple minds see only simple things. I just got my new insurance package from my employer, I pay $328.00 a pay period for my plan, in turn, the company pays out $672.00 due to all the “FREE STUFF” that Obama forced upon the American masses. My part went up over $100.00 while the companies went up more than $175.00, so company wide they are paying a staggering $210,000.00 a pay period. That’s for only 1200 employees, imagine if you were Wal-mart, with about 1.5 MILLION employees…wait a tick, let that sink in a little more…yes that comes out to an astounding total of $262,500,000.00 a pay period, if every individual took part in the plan(Obama requires everyone, one way or another, to be covered)!!! I know not everyone has a high end plan like mine, and the numbers are going to be somewhat different, but NOW do you get the picture? Don’t demonize the employers, Obama and his minions did this, place the blame squarely on their shoulders…

    Sasja,

Socialists Outline Democrats’ Agenda for Next Two Years

Contrary to popular opinion, the US Democratic Party does not set much of its own policy.

Democrat policy is actually dictated by the labor unions and radical think tanks, such as the Center for American Progress, and the Institute for Policy Studies.

The unions are dominated by the US’s largest Marxist organization Democratic Socialists of America – which also works closely with the C.A.P. and I.P.S.

So, by a process of osmosis and deliberate orchestration, D.S.A., and their friends in the Communist Party USA, effectively dictate Democrat policy at state and national levels.

On November 16, the Democratic Socialists of America National Political Committee released After the Election: Keep Fighting, a blueprint for DSA action and priorities for the first segment of Obama’s second term.

It is basically a guide to action for long time DSA ally Barack Obama and the Democratic Party, over the next two years.

Diverting money from the military to social spending will be a huge part of the agenda. After all, a strong US military is the major block to world revolution.

The push will be towards universal socialist healthcare and an economy wrecking Financial Transactions Tax.

Wait until JerkHarp finds out that the millions of people who aren’t currently buying any health insurance won’t be buying insurance OR paying the penalty in the future, and the cost of their care will fall squarely on HIS shoulders. Of course, that’s assuming he isn’t one of them …. which I’m guessing he is. I’m guessing that he plans to be on the winning side of this equation. Why else would anyone argue so passionately in favor of a plan that is obviously going to reduce the quality of health care for the entire country and cost the decent, hard working people who pay their taxes a pile of money?

The entire basis of the plan revolved around the promise of broadening the base of people paying in to the system, but I can guaran-fking-tee you that the same parasites and losers who leech off the government NOW will continue to do so. Plus, as people discover all the ways they can qualify for exemptions and escape paying, the ranks of non-payers will swell to enormous proportions. Naturally, they will immediately begin using the health care system more than they EVER have too, because it’s FREE!!!.

The architects of this plan knew full well that would be the case … which means the entire plan is based on a lie. It’s nothing but another wealth redistribution scheme, designed to push us further down the road to Socialism. We know that, but morons like JerkHarp are either too obtuse to face the reality of the situation, or in favor of it. There’s a special place in hell for these people …

  • Highlander

Meanwhile, it’s a real shame that the left can’t see their way clear to assign some more intelligent trolls to this site. …

  • Sasja

There are no intelligent trolls to assign. These are the creme de la creme of troll country.

  • Nick

“Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post. ”

This is SO typical of the spin and lies by left wing websites such as Puffington Post. They arent “denying” anyone anything. They arent OFFERING it. Period. Its not like they are offering it to new white employees but not black ones, then it would be DENYING it to them.

Their wording is EXACTLY how the left wingers and ignorant masses that go to Puffington get brainwashed. Thanks to the plethora of stupid Americans in this country, they buy this hook line and sinker. So pathetic.

  • Highlander

That’s exactly right Nick … the media is nothing but a propaganda arm of the Progressive left, and they have been corrupting the American people’s minds with their lies for decades now. I don’t really fault the IQ of the American public though. When the programming starts in grade school and earlier, it’s virtually impossible for our citizens to develop any critical thinking skills. Usually, the challenges of adult life would expose any fallacies and misconceptions we pick up in our youth, but when government succeeds in turning a large portion of a society into wards of the state, and people don’t have to fend for themselves anymore, they lose touch with reality. A vast portion of our society no longer feels the need to question authority, or has the ability to think for themselves. They just wait for their paycheck, or their welfare check, and watch TV until the next one comes…

It’s a fine mess we’re in, and nothing short of a major catastrophe is going to break the hold the Progressive liberals and their lackeys in the media have on America and snap the people of this country back into reality …

  • Pete

jharp shows he knows nothing about healthcare and is nothing but a leftwing troll.

Obamacare has never been about providing health care. It has ALWAYS been about the government power grab. All the proof you need is to understand that obamacare adds 15,000 IRS agents but not ONE doctor, nurse or advanced practitioner. So I hope all the stupid, lazy, anti-Americans who voted for obama enjoy having their annual physical and urgent care provided by IRS agents.

jharp – do you have the intellectual integrity to ask yourself why, if obamacare is so freaking great, the demonrats who voted for it (because no republicans did) all ensured that politicians, their staffers and their family members were exempted from obamacare?

jharp – do you have the intellectual capacity to explain how 30-40 million people put into a taxpayer funded system thinly veiled as “insurance exchanges” will be able to get medical care when there is already a doctor shortage in this country (90-150,000 estimated shortage by 2020) and fewer doctors willing to accept such government insurance because the reimbursements from such are 10-20% of what it actually costs the doctor to see the patient?

People like jharp are too filled with selfishness and envy of others that they cannot see beyond the pathetic need to have some government thug steal from more successful people and drop pennies to buy their historically and economically illiterate votes.

  • maak

I didn’t know Walmart offered health insurance to part time employees under 30 hrs/week. What the heck have the unions been complaining about all this time?

  • Shawn

Soon all wal-mart employees will work under 30 hours a week.

  • JT

The liberal vision is Walmart’s strategy will be emulated by businesses across the USA, not just retailers (except for Gov’t employees, who will be exempt as they are immune to the concept of cost containment). I presume jharp is one of those smug bastards.

Than when the costs spiral out of control (only sick people will sign up for exchanges & everyone who qualifies will spike the Medicaid rolls off the charts), the masses will cry for single payer (again, with our ruling class exempted).

The reality will end up being the total destruction of the system and its rebirth into a “cash” system. Sort of like Greece. In theory, you will be covered under a bankrupt “single payer” system, in practice, you’d better have cash if you expect any service and whatever prescription drug’s you may require.

In that respect, maybe this will end up working out. But it’s going to be hell along the way.

THIS is why ObamaCare is such a crock and will bankrupt the nation.

“My part went up over $100.00 while the companies went up more than $175.00”

Just wait until 2014 when the full effects of the mandate are realized. Almost no one will be able to afford health insurance. Most Americans will be on some version of Medicaid, waiting in long lines to seek care that will mostly come too late to be of much use. If you are friendly with anyone in oncology, ask about the huge scalebacks that are going on. These practitioners have been quietly warned that most advanced cancer treatments will simply not be covered under any health plan in the future, and no advanced oncology treatment will be provided to any person over the age of 65. That’s one heck of a death panel.

One of the largest oncology groups in Texas was planning to double their hospital bedspace for a particular type of advanced oncology treatment at one of our regions best cancer hospitals. Day after the election, the staff was called in for the announcement; project cancelled. 4 full time physicians, 2 full time pharms, 40 RN’s, 5 PCT’s, millions in construction spending, capacity to serve a 300-patient community, all gone in the moment Obamacare became certain. Jharp, and others who support Obamacare, where so you imagine the capacity to serve these patients is going to exist? Fairytaleland? Dreamville? Where is your mother going to get treated for multiple myeloma, or AML? Well, if she’s over 65, she’ll be sent home on pain meds and oxygen (soft euthanasia) and that’s about it. But assuming she’s younger, where will she get a bed? The ones that are already overcrowded? The new ones that are being cancelled all over the country because of Obama’s reelection?

    What Medicaid expansion?

That’s not happening here in the Midwest. Ohio, Indiana, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas?

None of those states has chosen to expand Medicaid coverage. None of those states have chosen to burden their taxpayers with tens of billions more in hidden taxes.

So I wonder, who will cover insurance for Wal-Mart employees?

    Why, the answer is nobody.

The dirty secret of Obameecare is that tens of millions of Americans will lose their employee insurance and won’t be able to afford individual plans. And all of them will be hit with the mandate penalty.

The rest of us will find premiums doubling or tripling for less coverage.

I guarantee you by 2016, both parties will be running on repealing Obameecare.

We could see 100 million Americans without insurance by 2016.

@ Jharp: What you seem to not be able to understand is that Conservatives don’t want the Fed govt making decisions like healthcare for us. We want to be able to make those for ourselves. We want as little govt intrusion in our lives as possible! You keep saying that you want the govt to make decisions for people. That’s crazy, are so dependent on someone else telling what you can and can’t do! Are you so incapable that you can’t decide what is good for you or not? You said that you will be able to keep your 20 something kids on your plan, are your kids that incapable that they can’t do for themselves? Wow!! I am amazed at that I was taught that I had to be a real man and take care of myself when I grew up and not be dependent on someone else to take care of me. Of course, you will say that we need laws and the govt to tax us etc etc. What has Dear Leader really done for our country. He’s blamed Bush for our bad economy and borrowed trillions to pay off Unions and spent us into poverty for years to come.
You seem to think that “Obamacare” is such a great thing, have you ever had to deal with such a system?? I doubt it, I am a Medically Retired Army Soldier and deal with the VA regularly. It sucks!! Like the person said earlier it takes MONTHS to get things taken care of. Likewise with Tricare. You will see what happens in the months to come when Dear Leader gets what he wants and our economy tanks even worse than it is now, unemployment rises to around 15% or higher, taxes for everyone increase in Jan next year. It is obvious that you lack a basic understanding of economics that portray reality. Not Keynesian, but the Austrian school. I’m so sorry about your life that feel the need for someone else to take care of you.

  • Highlander

Hunter, that about sums it up. Well said. However, dipsh!t will refuse to believe any of it, and just come back with more of his left-wing drivel. You just can’t fix stupid. They’re going to have to learn the hard way …

  • Hunter

Highlander Yep, but why does it have to hurt the rest of us?!?! I didn’t vote for the pain and suffering we’re gonna get. It would be great if only they could be the ones to suffer the consequences of their desires but alas we will all suffer and watch our great country circle the drain.

What no one even mentions is the sheer impossibility of Obamacare delivering ANY care.
Estimates range from 10 million to 60 million people will be covered as of Jan 1, 2014. NOT ONE NEW DOCTOR, NURSE, OR BED PAN EMPTIER HAS BEEN PLANNED FOR! There were no feasibility studies conducted before this legislation was rammed through Congress without even being read. Do you realize how many Drs are going to retire early because they refuse to practice medicine under the rules of the AHA? But the bill provides for 16,000 additional IRS agents to collect the fines and taxes. And care will not be rationed? Anyone over 60 will be given pain pills and end of life counseling. 159 new bureaucracies have been created. Bureaucrats don’t work for free.

When the legitimate market cannot, or does not meet the demand for any commodity, the black market fills the void, always, inevitably. No dictator, president, congress or parliament has ever contravened the laws of the marketplace because they are predicated on human behavior. It does not matter what laws are passed. It is going to get real ugly, folks.

The simple, logical truth is that Obamacare cannot deliver any care. Has anyone considered the kind of care these new additions to the system will require? Many of them are indigent, and have not seen a Dr in years. So we are going to make them well by spreading our resources so thin that people who are getting regular care are going to get less, or no care. If 100 people get sick, that does not make one sick person well, yet that is the logic behind the AHA.

The people who are getting regular care now are the working classes, TAXPAYERS who are funding the system. Take away their care, by spreading it too thin, and guess what, pretty soon you have fewer people paying in, and more people taking out. Just like Social Security and Medicare. We never learn.
