Senator Feinstein Pushes National Buyback of Guns

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) proposed a national buyback of guns this week.
The Washington Examiner reported, via Free Republic:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that she and other gun control advocates are considering a law that would create a program to purchase weapons from gun owners, a proposal that could be compulsory.

“We are also looking at a buy-back program,” Feinstein said today in a press conference. “Now, again, this is a work in progress so these are ideas in the development.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., already discussed the possibility of a buy-back law for his state, but he made clear it would be a forced buyback.

“Confiscation could be an option,” Cuomo told The New York Times yesterday when discussing semiautomatic weapons. “Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

there are going to be a lot of dead officials if they think they can subvert the constitution…it doesn’t say you need a permit issued by government to keep and bear arms.

A people that fear their government is a dictatorship, a government that fears its people is a democracy. The fear and freedom reign.

Another Progressive attacking our Constitution and thinking Big, Powerful Government is soooo smart and efficient. Reminds me of the NYT’s Headline during Sandy lambasting Conservatives and claiming that only Big Government could adequately address Sandy. I think there are still people in New York that don’t have electricity or heat. Some one said Sandy was “Katrina on the Hudson.” The NYT will never address the inability of FEMA and the Federal Government re Sandy because it is too busy writing about how out-of-date the Second Amendment is and how our guns should be confiscated and harsh gun controls adopted.

  • dtih

Capital Hill should be a ‘gun free’ zone, no police, no ‘Feinstein’ concealed carry, nope – nothing. Then the nation would be a safer place, no doubt.

biggest mistake ever made was giving the government the printing press. It can print all the money to buy back all the guns, they have the capabilty, it isnt fiction. Money wont be diverted from other programs, it will just print more money.

“….to PURCHASE weapons from gun owners…..”

It’s not a “purchase” unless gun owners are allowed to refuse the offer.

Offer and acceptance analysis is a traditional approach in contract law used to determine whether an agreement exists between two parties. Agreement consists of an offer by an indication of one person (the “offeror”) to another (the “offeree”) of the offeror’s willingness to enter into a contract on certain terms without further negotiations. A contract is said to come into existence when acceptance of an offer (agreement to the terms in it) has been communicated to the offeror by the offeree and there has been consideration bargained-for induced by promises or a promise and performance.

“The Importance of Prosecuting David Gregory…” (Legal Insurrection)

I still have not heard back from the three NBC News communications executives I e-mailed just after noon yesterday asking for the position of NBC News on whether the ammunition magazine was real and whether Gregory violated the law.

But assuming, as Gregory stated, that the magazine was for an AR-15, then why shouldn’t Gregory and the staffers to and from whom the magazine was transferred, be prosecuted? Particularly in light of Gregory’s aggressive demand for more guns laws.

Certainly, if LaPierre had shown up with that magazine, there would be howls of gotcha, and widespread media demands for prosecution. Why should NBC News and its star be above the law?

    There’s another lesson here.

Gregory’s possible violation of the law was exposed by the conservative blogosphere, which also pointed out that Gregory sends his kids to a school with armed security at the same time he was mocking the NRA suggestion of armed security in schools.

We have to do more of this, investigating the investigators and inquiring of the inquisitors. It’s one of the legal insurrections for 2013.

  • theBuckWheat

David Gregory’s use of a 30 round AR-15 magazine as a prop on Meet the Press to support their national banning was clearly in pre-meditated violation of the law banning their possession in the District of Columbia where his show originated.

Gregory’s act exactly proves what opponents of such restrictions have been saying: such a ban will not stop a person hell-bent on breaking the law. If Gregory is not prosecuted it also proves other commonly held beliefs about liberal government and liberal media.

Advocates of banning magazines above a certain capacity ask who needs them. Putting aside that we tread on dangerous ground when we put any Constitutional right to a test of need (for example, who really needs to trample on the American flag?), the burden of proof is that the cost of such a ban will be justified by improving public safety. In an era of trillion dollar federal deficits, this raises a question of best use of finite government resources. If history is any guide, few people who already own any of the estimated 100 million such magazines in private hands can be expected to turn them in. Aren’t we better off allocating our money to improve school safety rather than fund a war on newly-outlawed firearm accessories?

I would remind people that while we are now having a “national conversation” on firearms regulations, we have yet to have a similar conversation about what changes we must make to the treatment of citizens with mental health issues, not to mention how we are going to fund any changes that we decide to make.

If we get down the road a few months on these topics and the loudest voices on the left still give the highest priority to funding the waging of a new war on firearms accessories, above funding improvements in mental health or school safety, we will know who the real ‘gun nuts’ are. And they won’t be the people with NRA bumper stickers.

Since, however, the govt produces nothing and the money they spend is yours, they would be buying it back from you with your money. I mean, they take your money then give it back to you in exchange for your gun. So, they would still be taking your gun from you. Bye-bye 2nd and 5th Amendment rights.

The Commies have been working toward the ruin of America for 100 years and they’ve run out of patience. Up ’til now, they’ve been slowly heating the frog. It’s still a ways off to boiling but they don’t give a damn. They’re tired of waiting and ready to turn up the heat to max, put the lid on the pot, and point a couple of torches at it, as well. If they were to continue with the slow implementation of communism until the US is fully a communist state, they’d still have to eliminate millions of “die-hard capitalists.” ( ) May as well “eliminate” them during transition, let them go down fighting for their cause, and get on with boiling that frog.

Two weeks ago the cities of Oakland and San Francisco had very successfull buy back programs that collected many guns. In fact, cars were lined up for miles to get in on the program.

Those cities were buying back any working gun for $200 with a limit of 3.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated event, ALL of the local BIg 5 sporting goods stores completely sold out of their $99 shotguns.

  • Time

Be prepared to defend your weapons. They have all intent of taking your guns any way they can. They will kick your doors in, surround your homes with swat teams if necessary to get them but they will get them. One way or the other they plan on taking your guns, count on it, so they think. I am not going to sugar coat this peeps. This is dangerous times and we the people are under attack by our own elected officials, the very ones we pay to do what we tell them and what our constitution dictates. But the problem is they have circumvented both. Let’s be crystal clear, they are coming and will do what ever it takes at all cost to everyone to achieve their goal, agenda. Be prepared to defend or submit.

Freddy, that’s the first I’ve heard of the Oakland/San Francisco gun buy-back, so I looked it up and found a report on it at Breitbart. Here it is in case others missed it, too.

San Francisco And Oakland Crowds Hand Over Guns in Buyback
by William Bigelow 19 Dec 2012

In San Francisco and Oakland on Saturday, citizens brought their guns to sell to the police in return for cash. Every volunteer who returned a gun was $200 richer walking away. The line was so long in San Francisco that there was no cash left after lunchtime and I.O.U.s were substituted instead.

Oakland’s citizens gave even more guns back, including assault weapons and Ak-47s; the line of people returning guns, which was comprised of those standing and those in cars, was almost two miles long. A limit of three per person was imposed.

Oakland’s police chief, Howard Jordan, said, “When we remove guns off our streets that could be used in a crime, we reduce the possibility of our youth and community being a victim.”

There’s only one problem with this scenario: in all likelihood, it’s the law-abiding citizens returning guns. The criminals are not about to surrender theirs. All reports from the scene quote people who were highly unlikely to use their firearms for criminal activity in the first place.

  • mark1973

#47 & #51, Even if most of those people who turned in their weapons were for the most part law abiding, they were not turning in Firearms that were legally owned. They were turning in their junk Firearms for the most part for quick cash and keeping their 3 or four more decent Firearms they own at home for personal protection. Their might have been a few quality semi-auto weapons but they were few and far between. Those people were not leaving themselves defenseless, particularly living in that neighborhood. Also, the lamestream is going to overblow the “Success” of such Buy Backs, in a psychlogical attempt to make us think everyone is onboard about giving up our God Given Second Ammendment Rights. We are not.

If you believe 95% of those people turned in every Firearm they had in their houses, then your mistaken. Already have my old, beat up 22 rifle i have not ever fired, designated for such a Buy Back. Will not turn any of my other Firearms in.

  • squeaky

the big talk being on gun control while the more important issue of mental health is a distant second or third thought. but then again, gun control has a dual purpose and being a good idea or bad idea probably depends on leaps of faith that the powers that be won’t take advantage of the “bad” side. easier to attack the perennial target [nra/gun] than open the can of worms that is mental healthcare. somebody’s foot might get stepped on.. when you have a job to do but you’re not given the right tools [to accomplish the job] by the same people who will hang you out to dry when something goes wrong. when a game of hot potato is used to pass the blame.

I prefer a Buy Back of all Elected Government Officials who refuse to follow the Constitution. The buy back fee could be a get out of jail card if you resign and leave office quietly. Of course there would be NO pension and no chance of a Government Job again.

  • Steve

Brilliant… These buyback programs offer $2-$300 and get mostly cheap/broken guns from criminals and cost way too much. Anything else are too valuable and has been proven joke every times. No just like their Islam buddies they are trying another UN end run. Folks just turn in junk guns and go buy another better gun. I see mostly old/broken pistols they get so look at the stats for yourselves! Nobody is trading in their riles beyond 22″s and other junk. Another waste of our money so let them know the facts! It’s like folks saying ” my computer/hardware is broken” when it’s really the ” software” inside of their heads.

No doubt the media is grossly responsible as the science clearly shows.

  • Gun control is not about guns, it is about control.
The destruction of the gun owner right to be armed is also the destruction of the Constitution and Bill of rights which is your only protection from the politicians and evil doers.
Your guns and unity with others who are like minded are the only hope we have left in this country.
Any honest Cop will tell you that many police desk jockeys’ (who might possibly be called out on emergencies) hate rapid firing semi-auto rifles and high capacity magazines for the very same reason that the NAZI enforcers hated them. These technologies put effectively into the hands of citizen protesters and guerillas the same deadly strength that they themselves possessed. An unarmed citizen is easy to control and presents no threat to the dictatorial domination of totalitarian-minded government entities, which the NAZI were and America is rapidly becoming.
Best that people understand that gun control equals gun confiscation then slavery or death.
The Constitution is the law of the land in America, let’s keep it that way and stay free.
Join a Constitutional Militia find others who are like minded as you are and stay strong and free.

People who plan these mass murder events count on you being unarmed and easy prey.
It seems most are under the influence of drugs and along with that there are no
moral guide lines. Mass murder becomes very easy. All that is required is an easy target.

That makes a very good reason to keep your guns as a matter
of protecting your family and yourself. Other than that, there are very good
reasons politically to keep your fire arms.

The battle to control and to enslave others for personal reasons has been going
on since Cain and Able. Government uses gun control to control its people.

Many of these poor people who were killed and hurt in these planed incidents
could have been rescued if there had been a gun in the hands of a competent
person present. A gun is nothing more than a tool in the hands of the person
using it (for good or evil). A tool that keeps you free.

America became an armed nation when its good people fought for its independence
from Britain. As a result America is America and not a British colony simply because
good people were armed and fought for freedom against and evil ruler who wanted
to enslave the people he was suppose to care for. It stills works the same today.

It is a God given right and Constitutional right to live as a freeman and to
own gun(s) to protect that right. Be it self defense or defense from the politicians who would enslave and drag you into a (NWO) New World Order. Give up your guns and this country is done for.

It is a God given right to protect and defend and not allow others
to do harm to you, your family or neighbors.

You want protection and security? Then arm and train yourself and you will be
    free and respected.

The only way to protect our schools and children is for good people to protect

“Train and Arm the school faculty” so they can protect themselves and
    their students!

YOU GET TRAINED, so you can serve and protect yourself and others.

Restore the Constitution, morally and the Bible in our schools.

Anyone who thinks you can disarm all the people of this country is delusional.

And even if all the guns were removed from the public there are still knives,
clubs and other forms of weapons available including your automobile. (GET

Only an idiot or fool would give up his guns and leave themselves open to
attack from the thugs in public and in politics.

Your public servant would soon become your public slave master and you would be
an easy target to murder, rape or steal from.

Before you commit yourselves to that type of servitude and death, you had
better think about it real good.

It is and easy conclusion for me.

Stay strong and grow in faith.

Never will I turn my family and myself over to be abused
