Nice. Killjoy Sotomayer Tells Little Girls to Drop the Princess Nonsense

Justice Sonia Sotomayer stopped by Sesame Street this week and told little girls to drop the princess silliness.

Business Insider reported:

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor stopped by Sesame Street last week to essentially dash Abby Cadabby’s hopes of having a career as a princess.

“Abby pretending to be a princess is fun, but it is definitely not a career,” Sotomayor told the pink puppet in a clip that gained prominence on BuzzFeed, the Washington Post, and TIME .

Instead, the justice recommended little girls go to school so they can be a teacher, lawyer, or “even a scientist.”

Sotomayor has a heart of gravel and barbed wire.

Remember Sonia, children are to be indoctrinated, and then mocked. Not vice-versa.

The US is still looking for a wise Latina to be on the Supreme Court.

  • Comrade J

Someday it’ll come out that Sotomayer has gone “elmo” on little kids…

  • American Woman

I must admit; I agree with the intent of the video. First, America has no royalty (thank God), we are a democracy, a republic that elects its leaders.

Second, little girls grow into women, who have to bear their share of the load. The princess ideology was created by Disney and Hollywood.

  • valerie

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a princess, and grownups kept asking me if I wanted to be a teacher, or a nurse. Fortunately, my daddy taught me that I should be a doctor, because a nurse had to be just as smart as a doctor, but gets paid SO MUCH LESS.

I got the doctorate, (not in medicine) and I have to admit, a doctorate is a girl’s best friend. That way she can buy her own diamonds, if she wants them.

Now that Sesame Street is killing childhood, creativity and dreams, can we defund public television and radio, now? Please?

  • bigkahuna

Or you can be gay and be a princess who marries another princess. You can also grow up and become a liberal princess who tells eveyone else they dont build things, you are mean, rich and racist and dont pay enough so that they can give it away to parasites who didnt earn that

I think every time we Obama comes to town or a business we put up signs that say

And as you grow up be sure to make out with your girl friends. That’s what all the cool girls are doing nowadays.

She didn’t say never pretend; she said girls have to get an education to support themselves (rather than relying on Uncle Sam.) How many single mothers need a CAREER rather than collecting welfare?

See to feminists, women can be whatever they want, as long as it keeps them out of the house, makes more money than a man, and doesn’t allow them any time with their children. Those of us that CHOOSE differently, well we’re not real women and we’re certainly not feminists.

According to some Dims, if a woman stays at home and RAISES her children, then she is a princess cuz she will never work a day in her life. That’s what they said about Ann Romney.

  • Joanne

Little girls do not need to worry about a career. Pretending to be a princess is far more wonderful than pretending to be a school teacher. Life hands us enough reality without having to bring little girls down to it at such a young age. Lesbo feminists have made it NOT ok for a woman to stay at home and raise her children – she must have a career as well or she doesn’t actually work. It just so happens princesses in this day and age work very hard. Queen Elizabeth II was once a princess and now a Queen, and she works very hard… is a life-long career for her.

There is now a petition asking to deport those who are signing these petitions for peaceful secession. Since anyone who would sign a petition to deport someone for signing a petition is a brainwashed moocher, sign this petition to “one up” them in a way that is base enough for them to understand.

Any ideas what will be best for a woman’s happiness?
-is contributing to her man’s happiness, and others’ happiness important?
Any training preparation for being a wife, and motherhood?
    -is that important?
    What is best for America?
    -is that important?

how did we become the Greatest Nation in history with so much oppression of women? (like Islamic societies since forever)
how have accomplished so much Good for the World with so much oppression of women?
do these FOOLS ever compare women in America to the rest of the world? really?

seems to me that Pilgrim women, Pioneer women, Rosie the Riveter and all the good moms and wives at home contributed more to American success than all the Leftist preaching ever has.

too much time spent in Fantasyland is not good, for Princesses or Fembots.

Remember Thomas Sowells 3-Question Challenge to all Leftist assertions:
    1) Compared to What?
    2) At What Cost?
    3) What is your Hard Evidence?

applicable to transformation of social norms to fiscal policy and anything else

OT – what has happened to Romney? He seems to have just melted back into the woodwork. There was massive voter fraud. People should be demanding a recount all over the U.S. Sorry, but WTH is wrong with people. I don’t get it. The U.S. is going to go right down the crapper and everyone just seems to accept it. All the conservative blogs should unite and start massive protests and petitions – anything.

Or is she just bitter she was never one?

Actually, girls are getting degrees at a higher rate than boys. My daughter is a high school senior and every college she has looked at…every one…has many more female students than male students. If anything, we need to tell boys to stop pretending they are a basketball player and get an education.

Your website gets funnier and funnier every single day I read it and I’m so glad I keep coming back. I love how outraged you are that Sotomayor is telling girls that they can be whatever they want and that they can have careers. Why is it so wrong to tell young girls that, one day, they can become scientists? I get how you all don’t like scientists because you have a problem with, you know, facts, but a scientist can be a very fruitful career. I’m not saying that the US oppresses women, or that women have it particularly bad compared to the rest of the world, but as a feminist, I believe that, in most fields, women are just as capable as men and should be told that from a young age. I’m a high school teacher (excuse me, I meant, I’m a liberal Marxist socialist with communist union leanings), and some of my female students tell me they want to be homemakers some day. Do you know what I tell them? “good for you, you’re so smart, I bet your children will be the smartest their age.” But I also tell them that because they are so smart, they can also use their gifts to pursue careers IF THEY WANT TO. Because it’s America, and they have that freedom.

  • Nelle

Sounds like you can’t let it go at “good choice”. So you oh so subtly let the girls know that homemaking and raising children isn’t a complete life. If you’re smart, you’ll do a great job at it, but since you’re smart, hey, you could have a career.
Since they’re going to be notified by high school age that they must work outside the home if they’re going to have the respect of some people, can we let little girls alone about it? Let them fantasize about the things little girls have always dreamed about?
Or must they soon choose from teacher and scientist dress up clothes and coloring books, because those are the correct fantasies we must have now?

  • vonvervengarten

Actually, a nice degree in womyn’s studies will really get you places! About the same place your carefree and no cost dreams of being a princess will, except you’ll look like a man when you get through.

  • Dave

Oh, Nelle, of course I can’t let it go, because I would be doing them a disservice. As a respected adult figure in their lives, I have a responsibility to tell my students as much of the truth about life as I can. You read too much into my statements when you say I subtly tell them that being a homemaker isn’t a complete life, because that’s what you’d like to hear. When I tell them their other options, it is no different from when I tell my star quarterback that, because he’s an excellent thinker, he has other options in the world besides throwing a football for a living. If those options are what they choose and they have that ability, then that’s wonderful. But just like my quarterback might blow out his knee, God sometimes rearranges our plans, and maybe my future homemakers need other options for themselves. There is no problem with fantasy, but I promise you, there are some girls, even in high school, who have never been told what they are capable of doing with their lives.

And again, this is the SILLIEST thing to be upset over. If you don’t believe that little girls can grow up to be scientists, then you’re just too foolish to have an opinion.

  • LiberalPatriot

Right-wingers are clearly grasping at straws here. We don’t have a monarchy in this country, and since when is encouraging children to pursue careers when they get older evidence of some evil agenda?

Expect more of this kind of nonsense as the Tea/GOP melts down. They simply can’t accept that they lost.

One face of America’s destruction. Thanks Liberals..

  • liberalsRstupid

We didnt lose, the election was fraudulent. The Progressive manipulation of our elections for decades has eroded them to the fraudulent 2012 election. Without a doubt, from no ID requirement, absentee ballots and Electronic Voting Machines Obama and the Democrats were NEVER going to lose the presidency or the Senate. Period… Add to the myriad of other voter election issues like Military ballots and Acorn, La Raza etc etc etc. Along with Obama getting hundreds of millions of dollars from China as UNREPORTED???? Dont forget that Congressmans Son that guaranteed this fraud was going to happen.

The American right refuses because we value America and the Freedoms given to us in BLOOD of our forefathers. Today those Freedoms have been stolen by a political ideology hell bent on suicide and taking us all with you. True Patriots will never let this happen without a fight to the death. all you wanna be princess’s out there better listen up. so-so on the block is giving them a good slap of reality. take that you little preschool princess and grow the hell up.

  • Dave

I wanted to be the enemy too!

No matter what you think of this woman, if you can honestly listen to her say “it’s fun to pretend, but being a princess isn’t a career” and be upset, then you are extremely stupid. If you do not agree that “princess” isn’t a career, then you must worship Paris Hilton and the like, and YOU’RE the reason this country is in decline. Now, go back to watching Honey Boo Boo and leave the thinking to the real adults.

  • charley nash

Or pretend to be a Commissar in a Soviet-style society. Now that would be fun. 🙂

  • Rhinestone Suderman

Gee, Dave, your arguments are so convincing!

Keep calling everybody stupid, accusing everybody who doesn’t agree with you of worshipping Paris Hilton and demand we go back to watching Honey Boo-boo.

That’s the way to get your point across!/ Sarc.

    Not to worry.

There aren’t going to be any careers in the future, either for little girls, or little boys.

  • Rhinestone Suderman

There aren’t going to be any careers for kids to pursue, when they grow up.

And there won’t be any princesses, or royalty, except Queen Michelle and King Barack.

  • Kunegunde

The Princess Syndrome will only teach little girls to be self-centered and vain. Let them be princesses, if they like, but give them other options.

  • Hate to break it to those naysayers but little girls wanting to be princesses doesn’t owe its existence to Disney–I had no exposure to this when I was very young and I wanted to be one, thanks to Arthurian legend tales I grew up on. And little girls played princess long, long before Disney. It’s really nothing more than play imitating life.

Moreover, much as some of you may dislike educators (which Sotomayor is not), they recognise that play is as important to a child’s upbringing as math and manners–perhaps even more, because it aids in children’s ability to make sense of the world, communicate and exchange ideas and direction (give and take)–and that’s not an exhaustive list of why play is so important. If they don’t have those skills, academics and, later, employment, could be a LOT more challenging.

I used to be into the anti-Barbie crowd until I started to wake up, and now I am a strong advocate for letting children be children, especially since so much of childhood has been taken away from kids today. It doesn’t mean you can’t inject lessons into their play or your conversations with them, but do it in a way that lets them enjoy life–don’t make their world one gigantic lecture hall. Let them ask questions and make discoveries (safely) on their own.

Sotomayor needs to stop her nonsense and dictating to little kids–she is not teaching them anything by stealing their imaginations.

  • Kunegunde, don’t blame imagination for the terrible behavior you see today. It falls squarely in the laps of parents who can’t be bothered OR who were indoctrinated into the ideology of me me me. Children have been taught for at least 20 years now (maybe more) how important they are to such a degree that others don’t matter–and that’s the disgrace, not innocent play.

  • dw dude

being a dyke, she could only play he prince

  • John Flaherty

I gather Her Honor never watched The Princess Diaries, which addressed the role of the Princess of Genovia. Nor did she watch PRINCESS Diana, Charles’ first wife, nor PRINCESS Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s first wife.
Perhaps she can claim that we don’t have formal royalty here in the ‘States, but the ideals that numerous princesses of Europe DID live out are certainly worth attention of young girls.

How sad that Justice Sotomayor would choose to dash the wondrous–and harmless– daydreams of young girls.

Justice Sotomayor must REALLY think well of herself if she thinks we don’t need aristocratic values to any degree at all!

  • tek

Who better to offer career advice to a puppet?

  • But I thought they were supposed to not grow up. I thought senora sotomayor, like obama, wanted them to get pregnant as teens so they could get their own EBT card and Medicaid.
