Florida Officials Order Partial Recount in Allen West Race

Florida officials ordered a partial recount of ballots in the 18th District’s race between Republican Allen West and Democrat Patrick Murphy.

Allen West led on election night but currently trails Murphy by 2,442 votes.
FOX News reported:

Election officials in St. Lucie County will recount early votes cast in the hotly contested race for Florida’s 18th district’s House seat between Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West and his challenger, Democrat Patrick Murphy.

The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board announced late Saturday it had set an “emergency meeting” to start at 7 a.m. Sunday at its headquarters, to “recount all ballots cast during early voting.” The number of early ballots is estimated by officials to be roughly 37,000.

West, who has refused to concede the race, is currently trailing Murphy by 2,442 votes, according to the latest results from Florida Division of Elections. On its website, the agency says West has garnered 164,448 votes to Murphy’s 166,890.

“There are possible irregularities in St. Lucie County,” claims Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Florida lawyer volunteering for the West campaign who has been quoted on the issue. “On Sunday we’ll have a chance to recount the early votes and that’s a good start to preserving the integrity of the democratic process.”

West’s campaign said in a Saturday statement it was pleased with the news of the partial recount.

“This decision should help shed light on the situation of this election,” the statement said. “This is the action we were seeking to ensure the results of this election were fair and accurate.”

West’s campaign had said earlier Saturday that issues with the voting in St. Lucie County meant the race was still undecided.

“Late on Election Night, Congressman West led by 1,700 votes,” West for Congress said in a statement. “Following the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections’ decision to recount thousands of early ballots after a technical glitch, the margin shifted by 4,000. In order to ensure that votes were not doubled counted, we have requested that the St. Lucie Supervisor of Elections make public the poll check-in books to ensure the numbers of ballots cast matches the numbers of voters checked-in at the polls.”

He’s out. We’re entering an era of compromise and the GOP doesn’t want people like West around. If we have any hope for 2016, we will need to show some achievements in the next four years and that will involve working with the Executive Branch no matter how much we may dislike Obama. There is no place for West in that scenario.

“the GOP doesn’t want people like West around. ”

Lady M, isn’t the point of the recount to confirm / determine “the will of the people” – – not “the will of the GOP”?

  • Robert

Lady Moonbat who’s this “we” you’re talking about?

And we all know the democrat definition of “compromise”.

You are absolutely right! Florida Republicans were in on the move the redistrict Allen West.

With all else that is cascading in the wrong direction in this country, election integrity MUST be maintained! That is the first step to a free society. Lady Mondegreen, you seem to be suggesting that we should shrug our shoulders, give in, and let the party leaders decide who is appropriate to win office based on their “informed” opinions of what is best for the rest of us. I sense your dose of reality and irony, but we simply can’t afford to roll over on this.

I live here. West will win. If not 3 let’s join Louisiana and Texas in seceding.

On the contrary…if the Executive Branch got with Rep. Allen West…a whole lot would be accomplished and this country would start to head in the RIGHT DIRECTION!

Rep. Allen West my Hero…A Mighty Man of Valor, God’s Blessings!!!

We need West in the House of Representatives since he is the only person brave enough to take on so many of the Progressives in both parties. Let us all help him as much as we can.

In my humble opinion – it is very likely the GOP lost those crucial votes due TO WORKING with Obama and not providing any opposition.

The 6 trillion in deficit spending makes everyone I know want to puke and over the last two years there was no leadership to stop the out of control spending. We are now paying 455 billion per year on the debt service.

I believe if there is no firm opposition to Obama in the next two years and, actually starting right now on the “fiscal cliff”, the party will be finished and a new TEA Party will dominate the conservative vote. The GOP will be fooling around for the Hispanic, Black and women’s vote and pandering, like the Democrats.

Trying to be inclusive will water down the platform and that’s not the party’s ideal.

Go Col. Allen West! We’ve got your back. We are intitles to fair and free elections. Plus the Military ballots must be counted. They arrived in time, someone just stuck them in a warehouse marked ammunition.

Prayers for Rep. Allen West and his loved ones. We need Tea Party representation in the House for checks & balance. If this seat was stolen, we need to know that! Recount is neccessary – too many documented fraudulent reporst from Tea Party & Freedom Works poll watchers.

Yeah, the Obama Administration kept bragging about their ground game. Well the Freedomworks, Tea Party, Palin, Evanagelical, Beck, etc. ground game was stealth and very widespread. Some were overseeing the Democrats ground game. Ha! I don’t think they saw it coming. The media can’t lie their way out of this one as there is plenty of documented proof.

Game on! Fight like a girl 😀

If West pulls this off, then he is showing the way to fight these Progressives/Communists/Fascists/Marxists/Liberals.

    I LOVE IT.

James Russell Lowell states “Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne, Yet that scaffold sways the future and beyond the dim unknown standeth God within the shadows, keeping watch above his own.”

Everyone knows these DemocRATS and progressive republicans would lie, steal and cheat and even kill their own to get their way. They are pure evil.

God Bless Allen West. Romney conceded far too early. He was suppose to be fighting for America, but he just bowed out like a good little wuss. Romney should have demanded recounts wherever there were any discrepancies, and there are alot. Allen West is no fool – he doesn’t take crap lying down. Allen West should have run for President.

  • olm

Holy sh**, how can you not demand a recount?
This is insane, I thought we would have no more elections because baby Obama would decree it, but it is worse, it is because they are meaningless.
    141% voter turnout?
Obama won by 50.5% to 49.5%, and one FL county had 141%. Think about that.
We wasted Billions on this election and it was utterly meaningless.

  • Linda

Speaking of achievements…THANK YOU REP. ALLEN WEST FOR ALL YOUR SACRIFICES FOR THIS COUNTRY THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!

All the signs were in full view that the Democrats were going to steal the election.

Romney lost by 33,000 votes in 3 swing states. And those are the states with all the voter fraud.

West is a fighter for what is right. Too bad the Romney campaign wasn’t.

albeit i wish Romney had run in 2008, he lost the day the Republicans announced he was their chosen candidate, ergo, a shot across the Tea Part’s bow at the same time.. not to mention spokesperson dinosaurs the likes of a Rove.. sorry, but imho, no matter how much “it’s a given fraud was committed” by Barry Dhimmis, the Republicans set themselves up for a fall..

and btw, while i believe Romney would have made a great President,
the phony war against women didn’t decide, you see, Romney is truly
the NICER guy of the two, but women have always gone for the rebel
without a cause so to speak, a REVOLUTIONARY, as deep down in his
inner core, that’s exactly what defines Obama..

Anyone who thinks the DNC doesn’t target black / minority candidates is naive to say the least. It simply doesn’t fit with their “white racist” narrative.

St. Lucie County (where West was running) had a 140% voter turnout.

In Cleveland at least they had the good sense to have a 100% turnout (and 100% of votes cast for Obama). Much less obvious /s

What Luck! Obama Won Dozens of Cleveland Districts with 100% of the Vote (and 100% turnout!)

article update: Mr. Obama won in St. Lucie County, Florida, which had over 140% voter turnout.

Suggestion to GOP: Instead of spending endless hours discussing and debating why Romney lost, how about if somebody investigates whether he actually did!

Americans got screwed again,as usual. The local Tea Party here DOES NOT inspire any confidence and a lot of TP candidates don’t even know how to campaign without sticking their foot in their mouth. Like unions, they began with a grand vision and then the wrong folks took control.

  • carrier pigeon

Glad West is demanding a recount.

I agree that Romney should have as well, and that could have been achieved through the counting of material ballots, statistics, and the finish numbers on the vote count.

A lot of votes weren’t counted, AND there was voter fraud related to people voting more than once.

And that doesn’t EVEN address the software issues–easily programmed to disappear votes for Romney, Johnson, etc, and/or give votes to Obama. All under the table.

Romney for some reason thought the Dems would play by the rules since they were being beaten “fair and square” during the campaign. OF COURSE they never had any intention of being fair. For them anything and everything they do is justified–because of colonialism, slavery, etc. etc.

Romney should have had back-up plans regarding the election count and should have made a big deal out of the military votes not counting.

  • Lady Mondegreen

With all due respect to all of out, I repeat, West is out. This is a fact. We lost big in this election by not facing facts. Seniors, Latinos, women, gays African-Americans all vote and our side gave the impressions of not giving a damn about any of them. If we are going to take back the White House and the Senate, we are going to have to change that and it will take actions, not just words. West, despite the color of his skin, doesn’t fit into that scenario.

  • Lady Mondegreen

Please pardon the typo. I meant to say ‘with all due respect to all of you.”

“Suggestion to GOP: Instead of spending endless hours discussing and debating why Romney lost, how about if somebody investigates whether he actually did!”

    YES!!!!!!

They need to fight for the MACHINES and the court will not give them to West.

Romney did NOT lose. Anyone that wants to sit back and swallow that crap, so be it. It did not happen. It might have been close but I doubt even that.

Believe what they are feeding you or your eyes. There is proof if you will only weigh 2 things that you observed. Romney was building. Size of crowds were building. Obama had trouble all the way through. He moved his convention speech. Think!!!!

Obama & Biden had great difficulty building a crowd all the way. Think about what you know and what you watched. Then ask if that produces those results. It doesn’t.

Why are the Republicans not having all of those PA officials in court. Why are they not shouting about it? I BLAME OUR ELECTED VOICES who lay down like dogs.

I want Boehner out. Yesterday. I want anyone else at this point. Give me a former Dem for my voice and let that Arthur show Repubs the way. I want such a stink that everyone smells it about those MACHINES and those crooked election judges. They are really the little tin gods during election. I want our ELECTED voices to shake the world with the racism charge of 99%.

  • owl

I want ELECTED voices to be VOICES and not wimps.

This election was the most important of our lifetime. We did not fail. Our ELECTED voices failed us.

Back in the simple days when Dems run Texas, they would pay each vote they needed to put them over the top $5 and haul them to the poll. It did not matter if they were not registered because the Dem poll judge okayed them if the Repub appointed watcher objected. They kept a running total behind the scenes and if they thought they needed more, by golly, more would be hauled. That was the good ole simple way to steal an election.

Today we will never win another election if those ELECTED voices do not get up off their duff and do something about the machines. No, I am not kidding.

  • indieyank

So what do we do? What is the game plan to prevent voter fraud?

  • Danny

Why just a partial recount. Th fix is in, remember the multiple car trunk loads of votes in MN during the Al Franken and his 300 vote win?

  • Conservativechick

West is being denied the right to VERIFY all votes where there is a good chance there was FRAUD. In AZ where the Democrats lost, Harry Reid said this: ..”we are reminded that the right to vote is the foundation of our democracy. That right is not secure when some votes are counted while others are suppressed or ignored. I expect state and local officials in Arizona to ensure that every vote is counted promptly, accurately and equally.” Ok, same for Florida then Dirty Harry!

  • Linda

As you pray for our Troops…please remember to pray for Rep. Allen West, he fought the enemy at foreign soil only to come back to the states to fight with the enemies in the United States.

The hypocrisy of this administration to have send people like Rep. Allen West…our Troops out to fight in Afghanistan for democracy while this same administration is committing FRAUD WITH OUR OWN ELECTIONS!

  • Lightwave

Massive fraud nationally. All the polls were “wrong”. Yet somehow given the huge and documented enthusiasm gap, more Americans voted for Obamee this year than four years ago.

Only Allen West raises his voice.

We should be in the streets in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin at minimum: states with GOP governors and Secretaries of State and demand recounts.
