Mitt Romney supporter Scott Baio went on Access Hollywood to discuss how life is being a Republican in Hollywood.
Access Hollywood reported:
Chalk one up for Mitt Romney – he’s got former “Happy Days” star Scott Baio’s vote.
The actor, now starring in Nick at Nite’s new comedy, “See Dad Run,” stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Friday where he explained why he supports the Republican Presidential nominee.
“I believe in Governor Romney for a lot of different reasons. I’ve met him many times and he’s a straight up guy, he’s a good guy, great family man [and] his kids are fantastic,” Scott told Kit Hoover and Billy Bush. “I think we need to be fixed in this country.”
Scott said being a Republican in typically-left-leaning Hollywood can be intimidating and he feels for actress Stacey Dash, who recently faced a barrage of mean-spirited comments after revealing she’s voting for Romney.
“I don’t think anybody should bash anybody for what they believe. I have my beliefs, you have yours,” he said. “Just leave her alone, let her say what she wants to say. Freedom of speech.”
Adding, “I don’t know why they’re beating [Stacey] up the way they are – I really don’t.”
Scott, a self-proclaimed “big Reagan guy,” frequently engages in political discussions with Democrats on Twitter and said he doesn’t understand why some people become so heated over a difference of opinion.
“I have conversations with people who don’t see eye-to-eye with me all the time. I don’t get in wars with them – I just say, ‘Hey, it’s what you believe. I still like you,’” he said. “I’ve got no problem with anybody.”
The former “Charles in Charge” star has been actively involved in the Romney campaign and plans to continue to help out however he can.

young people in particular seem to care what Hollyweird thinks, so I’m glad some of these entertainers are speaking up for Romney, for free speech, and for the principles that make America strong.
Patty commented:
He is great FOR STEPPING UP AND ENDORSING A REPUBLICAN. More celebrities should and wish him great success in his new show on Nickelodeon.

I don’t know about Scott, but personally, I don’t like people who believe in Socialism and I consider people who vote for Obama to be enemies of America …

SCott was actually invited by Nancy REagan to Reagan’s funeral and attended adn spoke of REagan very knowledgeably. He was extremely engaged when Reagan died, proving his long time conservatism.

My evidence: I VCRd days of coverage of Reagan’s death
Cool trivia. When teh main highway in Los Angeles had Reagan’s coffin being driven the last few miles, the OTHER SIDE of the highway completely stopped out of respect to see the procession pass. It is a ‘gulp’ moment when you view it.
LIberal media was completely astounded at the time by the numbers that came to view Reagan in both D.C. and in California. They thought that his absence due to Alzheimer’s had put him out of the country’s minds.
Surprisingly, when Jackie Kennedy died they did the same thing, expecting that her long absence from the general focus would have made her a page 47 story. The numbers that turned up for her were likewise astounding to a media focused with only the immediate and the youth culture as relevant.
Yes, I VCRd Jackie’s coverage too. Anybody whose awareness began with images of the Kennedy funeral on television, at an age only a month younger than John John, as one’s parents wept, is not capable of viewing JAckie with indifference.

You’re taking a calculated risk if you speak up in California, but the signs are there …..
Actually, they AREN’T there. I drove from San Diego to Escondido near the Wild Animal Park today, and saw a few clusters of election signs, nearly all for local issues and candidates. There were a very few Romney signs, and not one Obama sign. Oh, and there was an empty chair in somebody’s yard on a hill next to the road.
I suspect the Democratic Party in California is going to be stunned and disappointed by the election results. My guess is that the state will still go for Obama, but the tax referenda will not pass. California voters remain generous and philosophically Liberal, but they do expect some bang for their tax bucks, and the legislature’s practice of routinely issuing pink slips every year to the newer teachers is getting old.

Sanity! Thank you, Scott?

I’ve suspected for some time, as well as continue to believe, that there are more Hollywoodies who will not admit they’ll vote Romney/Ryan. When your literal bread and butter, (not to mention that glorious stately home and all the goodies contained within) are at stake, I’m not surprised they don’t want to come out of the political closet.
Kudos to Mr. Baio…you and yours have just elevated yourselves a few notches!

Wasn’t there a time when many big names in Hollywood were actually Republican and/or conservative? Why the change to an obvious liberal point of view for so many actors, and when did it occur?
