Huck Goes Rogue–
Former Governor Mike Huckabee lashed out at the NRSC last night in a call with Missouri pastors. The Arkansas politician called the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) a bunch of “union goons” for not supporting unelectable candidate Todd Akin.

This was retweeted by the Todd Akin campaign.
Mike Huckabee is the only major political figure supporting Todd Akin.
Now he’s calling those who oppose Akin as “goons.”
CNN reported:
Mike Huckabee participated in a conference call Friday night with hundreds of Baptist pastors and Christian talk radio hosts in Missouri that was organized to coordinate a robust defense of Rep. Todd Akin as he faces pressure from Washington Republicans to drop his Senate bid against Democrat Claire McCaskill.
Akin told reporters in St. Louis today that he would not quit the race.
Speaking harshly about establishment Republicans who have tried to force Akin from the Missouri race, Huckabee at one point compared the National Republican Senatorial Committee to “union goons” who “kneecap” their enemies.
The former Arkansas governor said party bosses were “opening up rounds and rounds” of ammunition on Akin and “then running over with tanks and trucks and leaving him to be ravaged by the other side.”
“This is unprecedented, to see to this orchestrated attempt to humiliate and devastate a fellow Republican,” Huckabee said of Akin, who has deep ties to the Christian conservative movement. Akin spent Thursday in Florida meeting with evangelical leaders and evaluating his political future.
Huckabee said he spoke directly with NRSC officials this week and was assured that they would begin to dial back their offensive against Akin. He said party officials specifically told him they would stop pressuring Akin’s consultants and campaign vendors to drop the congressman as a client.
A Republican source provided CNN with the dial-in information for the call, which was convened by Don Hinkle, the editor of ‘The Pathway,’ a publication of the Missouri Baptist Convention.

I question why Huckabee is doing all this. I neither like or trust the man.

Hey Schmuckabee—How about the four DEAD policemen in Seattle—care to comment you scumbag????

Akin is only unelectable if his constituents in MO don’t vote for him. Simply campaigning against him but not for someone else is like campaigning for McCaskill. So, either get behind him or choose another conservative and/or Republican candidate to campaign for and support. Whatever you do, please please please don’t help prevent the repeal of Obamacare by letting McCaskill keep that Senate seat.

Oh, really? Does the name “Christine ODonnell” not ring any bells with Huckabee?

I cannot stand this jerk Huckabee. Apparently the Chick fil a day has gone to this moron’s head.
What a pathetic loser!
This isn’t even about pro-life candidates, I was willing to donate a lot for any repub candidate who was opposing Claire Mc., I’m not a social conservative, but none of that mattered since ObamaCare can be overturned with 51 votes…. but Akin is damaged goods, Im not throwing my good money down a rathole & will donate to other winnable candidates instead. I don’t care about social issues this time around, Akin is damaged and delusional, very very very delusional, he doesn’t give a damn how other pro-life politicans are affected. I would have donated to him, but he made a massive mistake, and oh yes there is a double standard, but at this point it cannot be changed, and that effort takes away from other efforts from other more electable candidates. I don’t even believe his apology, he believes what believes, which I really wouldn’t have cared about if he just focused on the economy, ObamaCare, I would have donated to him, not now, he’s damaged goods, and an arrogant power hungry jerk as is huckabee.
Palin has lived the ultimate po-life position, and I love her, I don’t agree with her on everything, especially social issues, but when she speaks of social conservative, its done with empathy, its not done with santimounous judgemental arrogance, like Akin and Huckabee. She never comes off as preachy or judgemental, how she’s lived her life is how she gets people to see her views.
Both of them, Akin and Huckabee are just selfish santimounous arrogant PO$. Fox, take off Huckabee’s damn ads about overturning ObamaCare, the man clearly doesn’t give a crap about that. He’s just a social conservative, he’s not a limited govt fiscal conservative.

hey MO repub party, get Kit Bond in there, easy name to spell, very well known and liked… do a write in campaign, I’d donate to Kit Bond’s campaign.

He only became “unelectable” AFTER the idiots at the NRSC and Crossroads announced early Monday they were pulling their funding of his campaign in an effort to nullify the primary and push Akin out. Then the unprecedented pile on of virtually every living phony conservative commenced.
The GOP establishment and phony “conservative” bloggers own Akin’s “unelectability”.

I have never seen what people like about Huckabee. He has always seemed to be erratic. Lately, it seems that more of the ‘good’ conservatives are turning out to be insane. i.e. Coulter, Huckabee

Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”
Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.
A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

I think some are fighting as the NRCS wants to replace him with a RINO and a not so conservative voting record. What good is to replace AIKEN and beat McCaskill if the Republican winner gets in and votes in favor of keeping Obamacare?

Well it won’t be long now before our resident nut maverick McCain jumps in and hits all of the MSM talk shows condemning everybody.

hell, replace with him Santorum, replace him with any social conservative who at the very least can articulate his positions and not put his foot in his mouth like Akin. There is now more effort defending Akin than attacking Claire Mc. and Akin keeps digging the hole deeper.
I doubt the NRCS cares is its another solid social conservative, but they want someone who is not damaged goods, and it was inflicted by himself. Someone who can actually win and isn’t wounded.

He’s not only electable….
Akin will WIN!
too bad for all you lap dogs….
And the establishment GOP falls a little further down in conservatives’ standing.

I am for Akin! If the establishment forces him out they are forcing out my vote. The People in MO have spoken. We voted for Todd. We stand with Todd. If you value our Primary, our constitution you will stand with Todd. If they can push him out who is next. We must make a stand. I have stopped Twitting any articles from Gateway Pundit until they stop the hatchet job on Todd. He is one of our own. He has served my district with honor and conservative votes. I refuse to join in on the pile on from our on side over a gaffe. I am sure Mr Hoft will delete my post b/c he has decided his opinion should come before my vote. Akin is staying. Keep the pile on and we get McCaskill for 6 more years if that happens I blame GOP, NRSC, MOGOP and conservative pundits!
AuntieMadder commented:
Was McCaskill the rep whose office staff stood at the windows and flipped the bird at TEA Partiers protesting outside the rep’s district office? Whoever it was should use the video footage and photographs, amateur-quality that they are, in their campaign ads.
Cliff commented:
I’m disgusted with all the so called conservatives who have played right along with this like media tools. I’m disgusted with the circle the firing squad mentality. And I’m disgusted that any conservative would take the side of the NRSC with their record of backing the worst possible candidates. Akin wasn’t unelectable until the GOP made him unelectable. And if we lose this seat it won’t be Akin’s fault alone.

Unprecedented. Yeah, this is totally different from the way the Republicans at the national level treated, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Harriet Miers …
There are reasons why TEA Parties exist, and some of them have to do with the elitist, venal nincompoops at the top of both of our parties.
Vicky Hernandez commented:
OK. This from the man who just wouldn’t go away when it was obvious he was not going to be the GOP nominee to run for POTUS.
Mmm ka-ay.
