Romney Campaign Raises Over $4 Million in 20 Hours Off Obamacare-tax Ruling

It’s a big F***ing tax.

TSgt

Governor Romney raised over $4 million in twenty hours following the Obamacaretax ruling yesterday by the Supreme Court.
The Hill reported, via Free Republic:

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign has raised $4.2 million since the Supreme Court ruled President Obama’s healthcare law is constitutional.

Romney started raising funds immediately after the decision, and in a post on Twitter his campaign spokeswoman said he had raised $4.2 million from 42,000 donations.

“Fundraising update for #FullRepeal: 42k+ donations, $4.2 million raised online for @MittRomney since #scotus decision,” tweeted spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

Romney responded to the ruling by renewing his pledge to repeal the Affordable Care Act known as “Obamacare.”

He wrote in a fundraising email to supporters on Thursday: “Today, the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare. But regardless of what the Court said about the constitutionality of the law, Obamacare is bad medicine, it is bad policy, and when I’m president, the bad news of Obamacare will be over.”

Well this makes me feel a little better. Woke up this morning and was all depressed to realize yesterday wasn’t a bad dream, but real life….. 🙁

I pray that Romney can evict the Boy-King from the WH come Nov. and that the Republicans do fully repeal this freedom robbing bill. However, the precedent that allows congress to tax behavior will remain, and individual liberty has been lost.

Folks, is anyone else out there starting to chill just a bit with the realization that there is a lot more going on under the surface of this event, both legally and politically?

Start with these two articles —

    The Chief Justice’s Gambit

Obama Wins the Battle, Roberts Wins the War

I also do note that Roe v. Wade poisoned the well of Supreme Court authority for decades. Justified or not, I think Roberts saw that potential on the left, and, not without logic, simply noted that the 2011/12 Congress is NOT the one that passed ObamaCare by a damn sight, the 2013/14 Congress will not be either, and maybe he said, “this is for legislatures to decide, not this court.”

I will not try to defend the decision, I am not equipped to do so. But I would like to know if anyone out there who was pretty upset yesterday (like me) are now suddenly seeing some…. well…. eyebrow-raising things in the light of today.

Thanks to Judas Roberts we are ALL smokers now who can be taxed for cigarettes wheather or not we buy the pack.

This will probably be the biggest landslide in American
Politics. The communist/ progressive democrats have
Gone too far and the backlash
Will be phenomenal. Over 60 seats in the senate. 2/3 majority in house. Romney wins 40+ states.
    Powder is dry

    Militant C –

And maybe Roberts thinks this to, though that should not matter, but he and we do live in the real world? And if it does happen, this very ruling, which the left is dancing about, will hand conservatives some serious firepower in attacking the Commerce Clause, and enhancing States Rights. And what will the left do then… complain about THIS ruling??

    Deeper game, anyone?

On November 6, we have to vote the Progressives out of the White House and the Senate and we must vote to gain even more control in the House. Every vote will count in this election and we must do everything we can to get people registered to vote and even provide transportation on election day. Soros and his useful idiots are going to do a lot of crooked things to ensure that Obama stays in the White House…after all, he’s not finished destroying America. We can and must stop them!

What’s wrong? So, I lied? Big deal!

I have doing that for 3.6 years and I have never been called on it! This is the first major lie that I have been caught.

Let me be clear, as your President I will continue to lie. I am the best liar this country has ever had. That’s a good thing… if you are one of my cronies. That’s why you should vote for me.

And, if am reelected I promise to continue to keep lying through the next four years. It’s an easy way to trick the stupid Taxpayers… and some stupid donors.

Yes, I have seen the T-shirts:

My Limousine is belching fumes and David Axelrod had got to get his spin machine going. This enormous 0bamaTax is still a Big F’n Deal! I hope that Axelrod pulls all of the right dongs and gets my campaign up. I cannot answer any more questions without lying! Good day.

Just get everyone you know to vote for Romney and every republican they can. The Senate, the House and the white house. This has to be stop and soon.

  • Warthog

So, now that this stands constitutional muster (a strange, drug-induced, Joker-like madness muster) how many Democrats will run for re-election on it?

I’m sure they will be charging forth to proclaim their pride in having produced this turd any minute now.

    Any. Minute. Now.

  • donh

Ann Coulter was right about Judas Roberts years ago…Maybe she is right about Romney. The RINOS like Jeb Bush seem a bit worried that maybe they don’t have Romney under their complete control .

  • So sad

I’d suggest you give up the USA as a bad job and move somewhere else, but, with the exception of Mexico and Turkey, every other industrialized country already has universal health care coverage so.. good luck with that.

By the way, the 21st century welcomes you, whether you like it or not.

  • MN Jim

IMO, Justice Roberts caved to weeks of Democrat whining about Supreme Court partisanship and wanted to prove he was not partisan by being partisan. He will forever be known as the single person who could have stopped this bad law but didn’t.

  • Ed Big Con

Chief Justice Roberts has tossed the issue back to the people. He said: “Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”
He did not want SCOTUS to overturn a major piece of legislation but he did throw a few wrenches into the works. He has given opponents a powerful weapon by defining the mandate as a tax. The Democrats could never have passed Obamacare if it was called a tax. They won’t be able to stop its repeal now that SCOTUS has said it is a tax. The American people face two massive tax increases; the expiry of the Bush tax cuts and the Obamacare tax increase. It was Mr Obama who said:
If your family earns less than $250,000 a year, a quarter million dollars a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: not one single dime.
That’s going to go down with Bush’s:
Read my lips: no new taxes
Then Chief Justice Roberts stopped the federal government from penalizing states that opted out of the Medicare expansion. This will make it much harder to “pay” for Obamacare. GOP states will be much more out-spoken in their opposition to Obamacare, and some vulnerable Democrat states might join the cause.
The Obama administration relied on the commerce clause to justify the mandate. Chief Justice Roberts pulled that rug out from under their feet.
Obama’s base would have energized and railing against SCOTUS had it lost. But it won and it is relieved. Not the GOP, and not the 2010 Tea Party activists; they are fired up and seeking revenge.
Best yet, Chief Justice Roberts completely destroyed the Obama election campaign strategy. He put Obamacare front and center in the election campaign and he linked it to much higher taxes.
I’m starting to like what happened today: Obamacare survived, but it is severely weakened and an easier target for repeal. It is up to us, the People, to kill it off in November.

  • Rachelle

Donh #18 said Coulter was right about Roberts being a stealth Souter, maybe she is right about Romney not being a complete RINO.

I hope so. He’s the only horse in the race now.

  • donh

Who says Judas Robert caved ? …or that he was bullied? …and not a good old fashioned BRIBE ? ….or just being what he has been all along ….the progressive Dread Pirate Roberts . #19 it took 14 years into the 20th century to break out the wars that empowered progressivism . We are 12 years into this century . The shadows of death darken every doorway and the bell tolls for the followers of Satan.

  • Teddy

Andrew X: My thoughts exactly. Roberts just pulled us through the Looking Glass and in doing so, preserved the country. While initial reactions are to whine and call him a traitor it is not really how he will be seen eventually.

Roberts giving the states their rights, Romney reaffirming that states have sovereignty, and the possibility of giving voters their right to choose in November, indeed the constitutional government has worked.

Obama’s victory is hollow and temporary, because now he is the lightening rod for everything that is angering Americans. He deserves it. He lied and committed fraud everywhere he turned, or wrote, or espoused. His history will be his undoing.

  • Spider

We have got a lot of serious sh*t to resolve come January 2013.

  • Gary

You’re right. And what may be required now, in addition to repeal, is an amendment to overstrike that precedent and stipulate enumerated powers of taxation.

I’m not advocating we back off on the HR, but I think the focus at this point should be on the Senate. Senators are way harder to unseat than representatives, and we need those seats more desparately than additional seats in the house.
My money henceforth is going into the Senate races.

A solid point. Romney isn’t who people thought he was. Shocker to the Dems who thought he’d be ideal to run against, shocker to the RINOs who thought he’d advance their agenda, and shocker to Conservatives who thought he was another McCain. (but remember how hard the real RINOs McCain and Huckabee went after Romney in 2008 to get him out of the race).

I like the track he’s on. He’s just getting his Conservative legs under him and I predict a more and more Conservative Romney as time goes on.

Remember even Reagan was a Democrat most of his life. Romney never was.
Anyway, the story will be told in January, and we’ll all know.

Michael Savage: Roberts Epilepsy Medication Affects His Cognition

“Let’s talk about Roberts. I’m going to tell you something that you’re not going to hear anywhere else, that you must pay attention to. It’s well known that Roberts, unfortunately for him, has suffered from epileptic seizures. Therefore he has been on medication. Therefore neurologists will tell you that medication used for seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, can introduce mental slowing, forgetfulness and other cognitive problems. And if you look at Roberts’ writings you can see the cognitive dissociation in what he is saying,” Michael Savage said on his radio program this evening.

How’s that universal healthcare working out for everybody?
I’m guessing just about every nation in Europe would like a time machine right about now.
Is that your vision for the 21st century?
Mine is one where sensible people all over the world take back the reins of government from the entitled children running their countries now, and slowly but surely we emerge from this dark age.
Don’t worry, we’ll still carry you on our backs while you do nothing to help and everything to hinder. What choice do we have?

Hate to say it, but 2005 was a long time ago in politics, and Ann Coulter has emerged as quite a RINO herself since then.
And that’s coming from a guy who loved AC and read all her books.
She left the Conservative movement in exchange for DC social status.
As evidence, just look at her candidate picks in the last three cycles. All RINOs. I posit that she only picked Romney because she thinks he is a RINO, and says he isn’t because she’s trying to sell him to you. (if I dare step inside her mind for a moment, of course).

I sort of see that too, but frankly with all that is at stake on this issue, I’d have appreciated it if he’d chosen a less signficant piece of legislation with which to pull that stunt.

Articles this morning state that Roberts voted with the Libs 1) because he has epilepsy 2) he changed his mind at the last minute and 3) he gave a great gift to the Republicans because it will show that Obama lied about raising taxes 4) he wanted to show the American people that the court was not partisan. It would seem that the Supreme Court’s main job is interpreting the law not winning best camper of the week.

It does change the campaign Obama hoped to run against 4 old white guys and an Uncle Tom. Its easier to run on offense than defense. But when this horrible power grab aka healthcare debacle is instituted will Justice Roberts be forced to stand in line and then told the govt won’t pay for his epilepsy medicine because of his age and by the way its too expensive?

Chief Justice Roberts is an evil genius. He called the bill what it is, a tax and ruled it as so, and then gave us all we needed to shoot it down. The tax can be shot down with 51 GOP senate votes, which we dont’ have right now, that is why it is critical that every one votes in November. Oust the liberals and take our country back, she’s a sinking ship. Anyone who stays home instead of going to vote is deserting their country in her time of need and should be treated as a deserter. Staying home is a vote for Obama, plain and simple.

He’s setting the milk out on the back porch and you cats keep lapping it up. He’s got you all fooled and you don’t even realize it.

  • Crackermike

OK, Romney has a lot more balls and smarts that I initially gave him credit for. His teams rapid responses are becoming legendary. He’s already last night got up ads mentioning “The Obamacare Tax”. Romney CAN and WILL win in a landslide, even taking into account msm propaganda, massive illegal alien vote fraud, and the votes of the dead. You can just feel the groundswell coming even more than in ’10.

  • Andrew X

Slinda – Guess we’ll find out after Romney’s inaugurated. Meanwhile, given the absolute truth of what you are saying, the middle to left Obama voter might as well go ahead and vote for Romney then, anyway, n’est pas?. He sure as hell can’t be any less competent.
