Our dear friend Andrew Breitbart passed away last night in Los Angeles.
He was 43.
Andrew collapsed last night after leaving a restaurant. He was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead early this morning. He was walking home alone at the time. A bystander saw him collapse and immediately called for an ambulance.

At the Quincy Tea Party in 2009 – Left to right: Adrian, Jim Hoft, Andrew Breitbart, Glenn Reynolds, Dana Loesch

Andrew was a conservative hero and true American patriot. He was generous with his time. He was a devoted friend. He was the definition of raw courage.

I first met Andrew Breitbart in 2007 on our trip to Israel where we met with Benjamin Netanyahu.

Seated: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Scott Johnson from Power Line in the background. Standing (l-r) Andrew Breitbart- Breitbart.com and The Drudge Report, Andrew’s great friend Laurence Solov, Jeff Emanuel from RedState and myself. We travelled Israel as guests of America’s Voices and Voices for Israel organizations.

Andrew leaves behind a wife and four children.

Andrew Breitbart spoke at a conference for black conservatives last August in St. Louis. I ran into Andrew after the banquet for this picture.

Breitbart reported:

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Thank you for your courage, strength, honesty and devotion.

At CPAC 2012 the trailer for Hating Breitbart was released.
The movie will be released this spring.
It received a Standing Ovation–

Hating Breitbart Trailer…

What sad news. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: The far left is already celebrating his death.

UPDATE:  Andrew Breitbart may have suffered a heart attack.  According to Reuters, “A friend of Breitbart told Reuters he had a history of heart problems and is believed to have suffered a heart attack”.

Here’s one more picture.

I took a chopper ride with Andrew Breitbart, Larry and other bloggers over Israel and down to Gaza in 2007.

  1. Has anyone confirmed this? It’s got to be a joke.

  2. What the hell??
Come on Jim. Say it isn’t true.
I saw this on FreeRepublic with a link to http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/, but can’t find any verification anywhere……

  3. WHAT?? Really hope this is some kind of sick twisted publicity stunt and not true.

  4. Lord rest his soul and call him to be with you.

  5. Big Government has it up also.

A punch in the gut. In many of my rants about MSM I cite Breitbart as my hero because he really understood them and how they worked. He understood their main tool The Silence.

I pray it isn’t true and I pray if it is, he RIP. HERO.

  6. I am shocked and saddened by this. RIP Andrew. Hopefully all of us here, in our own way, will keep up the good fight for you.

  7. This is tragic. Horrible. Say it ain’t so. We need Breitbart’s voice in the battle against the scum leftist media. Devastating.

  8. Mike Gallagher reporting it as we speak on his daily radio show.

  9. RIP Mr. Breitbat. You have inspired so many to take up a good cause. Your presence will be missed. My prayers go out to your family.

  10. My heart aches for his family and the loss to our country. This is one of those times I ask God, “Did you have to take him now?”

  11. OMGOODNESS! I am just sick about this. May our Heavenly Father bring peace to his family and friends and may the rest of us take up his cause of Righteous Indignation with his boldness and fearlessness.

  12. Hey dummys! Anfrew is not Andrew Must be some kind of test to see how dumb the reader are

  13. My heart goes out to his family. America has lost a “great patriot”. God bless your soul Andrew and ‘THANK YOU’ for all your honesty and hard work.

  14. Horrible news, indeed.

  15. I think I feel sick.

My deepest condolences to Andew Breitbarts friends and family. What a shocking and tragic loss.

  16. Horrible news. Condolences to his family. What a loss. RIP

  17. ABC news is reporting that he has died! Take it from it what you will.

  18. What a loss. I’m speechless.

  19. Can’t believe such a great American patriot with such a powerful mighty true voice has left us. He was a true hero. Prayers to his family. It is our duty to fight hard for the same causes like Andrew did, he was brave and fearless, and we must be the same.

  20. RIP Andrew! You have taught and we have learned. You arrived in our lives at the right time…our Paul Revere, our voice…..God Bless

  21. Let perpetual light shine upon him.

  22. FEARLESS. HERO. We lost the real deal.

  23. “Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us. ” <– Indeed Jim

OMG…this is such sad news. :-(

Rip Andrew Breitbart. Prayers for his friends and family.

  24. Just like a fallen flag on the battlefield, pick it up..The flame will continue to burn..Now,we fight for Andrew….R.I.P Andrew, our brother in arms !!!

  25. What?! R.I.P.!

  26. Not to worry, he rode life, life did not ride him.

He lived boldly. He will be missed.

Watch for the “compassionate” left to cheer his

    Passing.

  27. *Tears* Thoughts and prayers out to Andrew’s family and friends. We have lost a hero.

  28. Shocked, horrified and shocked. Can’t quite gather my thoughts.

  29. Autopsy, please.

  30. Was he sick? Did he have any kind of condtion? Shocked.

Foul play would not surprise me in the least bit. Lots of people between the Clintons and King Putt seem to end up worm food. And he had some interesting information to release later in the year.

    RIP Andrew

  31. Courage. They display it like our true warriors in the field but on the homefront.

Palin did not let the elite Repubs nor the MSM keep her from calling them Lamestream.

Sen Inhofe did not let the entire MSM/world stop him from standing up for our soldiers during Abu Ghraib and the fake global warming summits.

Breitbart stood up and put his money where his mouth was when he told told those civil rights race baiters to prove the Tea Party spit on you. $10,000. Prove it. Show me because you are lying and there is proof. He grabbed a mike in the faces of the MSM. He called them to their faces.

    Uncommon courage.

  32. He left one heck of a mark. Prayers for his family and friends.

  33. Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We lost a soldier today. As ferocious a combatant as has ever taken to the arena.

    God damn it!

I’m aghast. And crushed. And to his family, all my blessings. I feel I am doing them wrong, as though I am feeling this only as to how it affects our cause. Maybe I am.

Because it’s devastating a blow as we’ve ever taken.

Damn. There’s just nothing more to say. Damn.

I’m sorry. Truly I am. A far better man than I will ever be.

    World sucks sometimes.

  34. From Breitbart.tv:

I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies.

    I would say millions.

  35. “Natural causes”. BS.

  36. Unbelievable….Rest in Peace Andrew, you are a true patriot for our country!!! We will carry on in your name!

  37. Wow. What a loss! RIP. Condolences to his family.

Did he have a heart condition or something? A hereditary condition? Natural causes at age 43 seems rather odd.

  38. Terrible! And just when he was most needed!

  39. What a shock! Difficult to believe.

  40. Did Andrew say he had a tape on Obama which he would release before the elections? Something smells a bit suspicious, but I could be over reacting.

  41. So very, very sad to hear this news. He truly was a conservative hero. Sincere condolences to his family.

  42. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It can’t be. My God. There was no greater advocate for truth and no one who did more for honest reporting for us.

God bless Andrew Brietbart and all he did for all of us.

Today at 2pm central time is Sherriff Arpiao is having a news conference to announce/put forth a report he and 4 other retired detectives and attorneys have done on Mr. Obama’s eligibility.

    http://www.wnd.com/2012/02/media-finally-paying-attention-to-eligibility/

Something awful was likely to happen in advance of this. Complete coincidence, certainly. The least we can do it watch the news conference and the report today. It might just assure all that all is in perfect compliance. Then the questions cn be put aside for ever.

  43. Andrew Breitbart dead of prolonged Cocaine abuse

  44. To paraphrase Reagan: Some people wonder all their lives if they’ve made a difference. Andrew Breitbart doesn’t have that problem.

    Now, take up his sword.

  45. What a tragic loss? Breitbart work was unique and bold something that will be difficult if not impossible to replace.

  46. I am very sorry about this. May he be in God’s Book of Life. And may we carry on his work of taking our nation back from the left and restoring liberty.

  47. Tragic loss, and I hope someone knows where he hid Obama’s college records that he spoke about recently, makes many copies and hides them carefully.

  48. What a major punch in the gut to wake up to this news! Only 43?!?! Only getting started!!

People everywhere have suffered a great loss today in the passing of a truly genuine crusader in the war on anti-Americanism in the media, entertainment world and political agenda that is the Left-Of-Center in this Country…

God Bless Andrew and his family!!

  49. he and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  50. A courageous man! He was the Real Deal! Big Loss! Go with God Andrew and know we appreciate all you did for us.

  51. Just remember, Putin used to and probably still does, get rid of his biggest enemies.

  52. I was hoping that he had the L.A Times-hidden vid of Obama singing arab songs to his mentor and
telling anti semitic jokes. Oh,yes it exists as the Times wrote a story about it and said they would not release it as it was a ‘game-changer”.This occurred before the election in ’08.

So I was hoping that Andrew got the vid..RIp.
I find it very unusal that a confrontive conservative that we have and one of the best and a thorn in the side . Suddenly dies just before the election.I do believe he offered $100,000 for avid or photos of slurs when Pelosi and clyburn et al walk thru a Tea party crowd. No one came fwd with anyfootage.
    Was his mother Gloria Vanderbilt?

  53. What can be added but “Thank You”.

The fight now passes to EACH OF US, make his family proud for what Andrew started.

We remember him & miss him but now pray for his family the comfort that only our Lord & Savior Jesus can give.

    Powder is dry

  54. Rest in Peace Andrew and may God provide comfort for your loved ones with this devastating loss. You are missed already.

  55. Oh, I hope and pray that Andrew has inspired many to follow his particular brand of…….stirring the pot.
He will be missed, I will miss him. We have many great voices but his, in particular, inspired courage and conviction in those of us who deeply believe that what is going on in this country is not only wrong, it is criminal.
I can not adequately express my sorrow, over a person I don’t even know.
The Good Lord is in for a treat today…………as is Andrew.

  56. Well said, Warthog #45.

May God bless Andrew and his family.

May the angels greet him and the firmament of heaven open its gates wide for this fine man, who lived so true to his conscience and was a warrior against evil.

  57. The Conservative movement has lost its Superman. I just can’t believe it.

  58. Sure do wonder what they find during the autopsy. Now will we ever see those college videos of “the one” that Andrew talked about at CPAC.

He was a great guy. He will be missed.

  59. Since Andrew died at home, his death will deemed a “Coroner’s Case” which means an autopsy is required. Let’s get a toxicology screen and see there were any foreign substances involved. Andrew was integral to the US conservative movement and recently stated that he had videos of Obama in college days that had not been seen. I hope and pray those are safely locked away in a vault and ready for use by Brietbart.com. I saw him in person at a Tea Party Rally. He will be sorely missed. May God grant his family peace and Andrew eternal life.

  60. Rest in peace Andrew and may God have mercy on your twisted, evil and mendacious soul.

  61. Heartbreaking news. At our house, we had one word for him- fearless. RIP.

  62. I’m devastated. We lost a great General.

  63. subsonic commented:

    subsonic-
I think he knew the type of people he was dealing with. These are avowed socialists and communists and play for keeps. They are in power now and they have no intention of giving that up. Always keep that in the back of your head when watching headlines and the news unfold.

  64. How sad! A voice of reason silenced too soon.My prayers will be for his family and friends and for all sane Americans who found him to be an inspiration.Rest in peace,Andrew.

  65. I am stunned. What a loss. He was our warrior. We need him. I am so sorry for his family and friends. I didn’t know him personally but he meant a lot to me. He was so passionate and had so much courage. Another warrior for good gone. Dammit

  66. I am just shocked. Such sad news. My deepest sympathies to his family.

  67. I saw him speak at the tax day rally last year in the Frozen Tundra of Madison, WI. He was a lot like me: A lib in his early years who saw the mess that was Liberalism and changed his ways for the better. He was not ashamed of his past, and used it to bring upon a deeper understanding of his commitment to the Conservative cause. An intelligent man and a great debater. A conservative gentleman who wore the badge proudly and expected everyone to do the same. The world is darker today with his loss.

  68. Sitting at my computer weeping. Why God, why??

  69. May his memory be for a blessing and continued inspiration.

  70. If anyone ever had the right enemies it was him. I wonder just how ‘natural’ the causes were.

  71. I just read the MNBC website, and it treated Breitbart’s death with a very even hand and measured proportion.
Militant Conservative, I am a liberal who didn’t like some of the ways he slanted things, but I do honor his exercise of choice and his willingness to debate all comers, and that he seemed very intellectually consistent when on Bill Maher’s show.
That is what I ask of my conservative friends: intellectual consistency.

I am sorry for this unexpected deficit in your lives. May we all have compassion for the opposition voices in our political stratosphere…

  75. Rest in peace Dear Andrew. You are going to be missed.

  76. I am sorry to hear about Andrew. Prayers for he and his family.

  77. How shocking! Wow. Prayers go out to his family. We need all the conservative voices we can gather; he will be truly missed.

  78. Andrew Breitbart had the resources and the connections to make a difference on a grand scale. He was a tenacious, tireless warrior for all the right reasons.

Conservatives have lost a fearless spokesperson, and a beacon of hope.

  79. Tragic loss. RIP Andrew.

  80. I am heartbroken. He was my hero. He was feisty and unafraid and an outspoken leader. Who will fill his shoes? I only hope others will be inspired by him and take the lead.

  81. any theory he was poisoned by the liberal restraunt?????

  82. RIP

  83. They better check for poisons. I put nothing past the monster in the White House. He has some video tapes on the demon. It better not be murder.

  84. Wasn’t it about a month ago that Andrew say that he had some video of Obama from his college days?

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/02/andrew-breitbart-drops-bomb-on-team-o-i-got-video-from-obama-from-college-video/

This country lost a great man. R.I.P Andrew. Thank you for fighting against, and exposing the enemies of our country.

  85. Goodbye, Andrew. You will be sorely missed.

  86. #77,
Whoever he works with will make sure they come out. We have to, to get rid of the demon in the White House.

  87. Shocking. I am so sorry to hear of his death. Praying for his family at this time.

  88. My friend passed away unexpectedly with a brain aneurism may be same deal.

  89. Hope all of Breitbart’s info is secure and backed up in triplicate….with instructions.

  90. My prayers are with his wife and children. Thank God for his legacy: his books, websites, and no-holds-barred strategy. He was a very innovative, tough and tenacious guy.

I just keep hoping this winds up being some kind of hoax … ??

  91. We lost a titan today.

  92. Oh no. The republic lost another patriot. Rest in Peace.

  93. RIP brave Patriot.

  94. #30 and 31. Ditto.

  95. ++

Thank You & God Bless AB, you will be sorely missed.. :-(

    ==

  96. For the first time since I became politically aware, I’m scared. I am truly terrified at the disbalance that has just been created, and that God would take someone so important and loved by us.

  97. Godspeed Andrew — you shall be sorely missed. Your courage will not be forgotten, you are an inspiration.

I agree!! For peace of mind. (Not to jump to conclusions but, didn’t he say at CPAC that he had tapes on Obama?)

This is a sad day for Conservatism. :-( Tomorrow we will fight the good fight….for Andrew.

  100. Welcome to life in the Roman EMPIRE.

  101. Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
    And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell;
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell’st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

RIP..hero, patriot conservative warrior..you will be sorely missed.

  102. It seems that Breitbart might have succumbed to a heart problem he may have been ignoring to do his citizen-based activism.

I shudder to think about what is being written the comments sections on opposition websites today.

  103. I cannot stop crying, what a great man………………………………

  104. Call me paranoid, but I would do an extremely thorough autopsy. I would not put anything past certain elements on the left today.

  105. We lost electricity last night around the time of his soul passing. Glenn Beck, an enemy of Brietbart , is demanding we avoid conspiracy theories. Dying after eating at a restaurant is the MO of Vladimir Putin who is up for election this week. Recall the fate of Litvinenko…> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_of_Alexander_Litvinenko Those tapes of Obama at college better come out. Thank you Andrew for being a fighter and a WINNER. You single handedly took down Anthony Weiner which changed the course of history. Your life achieved great valor among millions of small unworthy slaves.

  106. And those OWS wackos working as cooks at the restaurant Breitbart was eating at right before he died, DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HIS DEATH! You hear me? NOTHING!

  107. Who will fill this happy warrior’s shoes? Going to spend today in prayer …

  108. I’m with #106

Autopsy please, very carefully and check for unusual poisons. Hate to be this suspicious of our government, BUT just seems to unusual and young, and he appeared the picture of health…….

Where are the tapes of Obama?? He was planning on VETTING and exposing Obama…..

  109. The Obama machine will kill anyone who stands in their way.
Andrew would not be intimidated and would not shut up so they shut him up.

  110. Is there anything we can do for his wife and kids, Jim Hoft?

  111. Touchable.

    Don’t mourn, organize!

  112. What a horrible loss for his family, his loved ones, and his country. If you have not read it, check out “Righteous Indignation”, one of the best books I’ve ever read. Andrew changed my understanding of the mainstream media forever.

His service to this nation will not be forgotten.

    Rest in peace, sir.

  113. #109, it would make you sick to see some of the stuff posted. If you have good blood pressure, prepare for it to be raised:

    http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2012/03/01/in-memoriam-andrew-breitbarts-enemies-react-to-his-passing/

  114. I’m with those calling for an autopsy. And even then, I would not trust the results. This is too shocking, too unexpected, and too coincidental.

  115. Such devastatingly sad news.
It’s so hard to believe that our “happy warrior” has died.
    RIP, Andrew.

    {I too suspect foul play. Release the videos.}

  116. That’s bad karma for you. No doubt his death was also caused by well-known cocaine use. I know this for a fact from 1st hand experience.

  117. You don’t die of natural causes at age 43 in a hospital. IF he died of natural causes, he would have been found at home. I believe this is some type of hoax. Maybe he wants to get out of the country so he doesn’t have to deal with the lawsuit filed by Ms. Sherrod.

Regarding the commentor who said that we lose a piece of soul every time we type anything negative, how much “soul” (if he had any) did Breitbart lose every time he spread his vicious lies.

  118. >.> I’m not sure I believe the causes were entirely natural
he had some video’s on 0bama that were said to be damaging?
I don’t put it past the president to have his opposition assassinated.

  119. Karma is a mutha. His Tweets on the death of Ted Kennedy, were classless, tasteless, and needless. The endless lies, edited tapes, twisted facts, that caused the firing or loss of countless people. He was not a nice guy and should not be rightly celebrated. I would not condone behavior like that from anyone that choses to call themselves “journalist”. One less person pitting Americans against each other is ALWAYS better for the country. My heart goes out for his family, but I have more respect for the bums, than a man that chose to try to demonize other people because they simply did not like their points of view, leading to the broken country you see before us now.

  120. Natural causes ?

I would check and double check on that !

Remember Breitbart said ” he has a lot of early obama vids, taps, ect ” !

As Reagan said Trust but verify

  121. Very sad and sobering to all who love truth and liberty. He was the same age as my daughter…puts life into perspective for many in my age group. My most sincere condolences to his family and those who worked for and with him. May they carry on the needed work he began.

Psalm 116:15 tells us, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”

May he be remembered for the positive influence he had on all who really knew him and not the distorted way his detractors want to picture him. I can almost see him looking back and saying:

When I am gone, release me and let me go.
I have so many things to see, and so,
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had so many beautiful years.

I give to you my love.
You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time I travel on alone.

So grieve for me a while if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.

I won’t be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you cannot see nor touch me, I’ll be near.
And if you listen with your heart,
You’ll hear my love around you soft and clear.

And then when You must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say, “Welcome Home!”

  122. The left does not exist to us today.
For all Breitbart has done, we can give one day to him.
The enemy he fought will still be there tomorrow, and we’ll be ready for the fight.

  123. #135 WELL SAID.

  124. I am suspicious, as many others note, that Andrew Breitbart died within weeks of saying he had tapes to release on Obama during his college days. That, and that he was taking a walk at midnight in the neighborhood – he KNEW that his life was always in danger, having received numerous threats over the years. Was he alone?

Why was he walking at midnight…….did he have security/body guards with him? No conspiracy – just wondering about a very untimely death, the sudden death of a young man who was open about his desire to expose thugs and their thuggery.

The promo for his new movie Hating Breitbart shows him a the end declaring *WAR* on the MSM. This is possibly – just POSSIBLY – someone taking it to the Chicago thug level………….

To all those who knew him, his friends and family, I pray for your loss, for peace and comfort. To those who are handling this – please PLEASE get a doctor you know and trust to at least BE AT THE AUTOPSY and provide some protection for those handling the results.

Also – to the Breitbart media folks: protect those tapes!!!

Thank you, Andrew Breitbart; you were and are a hero, a warrior who inspired and fought the good fight. May the Lord bless and protect your family.

  125. Andrew was married to orson bean’s daughter. reportedly, Mr Bean said that Andrew had heart problems. i imagine the stress did a job on him.

  126. I do not believe it was “natural causes” as Huffington Press stated this morning. He was taken out ! There are several drugs, absolutely traceless, that will cause “heart attacks”. Although he had been complaining of heart problems for the past few months, that also could have been caused by drugs.

  127. Breibart: I have Obama college films

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fRQ2lIQ3Lg

    Could this be something.

  128. I am incredulous that you chaps are imputing the inveterate kind of thuggish right-wing “neutralizing the enemy” tactics to Obama. If murder, silencing dissent, and mayhem lurk in your hearts, that is unfortunate; i wouldn’t assume it resides in everyone else’s.
    God bless you

  129. “For Good”

    I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
    Bringing something we must learn
    And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
    If we let them
And we help them in return
    Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
    Because I knew you…

So let me say before we part
    So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
    You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart

    …Because I knew you
I have been changed for good.

    Carry on…for Andrew.

  130. Below, The Blaze has assembled some of the most disturbing messages we’ve seen on Twitter over the past few hours:

@darrenfiorello: Andrew Breitbart died? Is it wrong that I’m happier about that than when they got bin Laden and Saddam?

@readjunk: I wonder if the state of Douchery will lower it’s flags at half mast? #AndrewBreitbart

@johnkapp: Andrew Breitbart was a racist, sexist, homophobe. Good riddance.

@towndrinker: good riddance to bad rubbish. no reason to mourn someone who made it their business to make this world a less pleasant place. #breitbart

@Sttbs73: It is very hard to have sympathy for an evil person like Andrew Breitbart! I am done being NICE.

@jeffglasse: Andrew Breitbart now enjoying afternoon tea with Hitler #goodriddanceyouhack

@darrenfiorello: People don’t die at 43 of natural causes. But if you’re going to live a lie, you may as well die one. #tcot #p2

@AlmightyBob: @AndrewBreitbart haha youre dead and in hell being a gay with hitler

@Chico Delainky: I wonder how #AndrewBreitbart died? If he was found with some type of foreign object in his butt., that would be really funny.

  131. sorry, posted on wrong thread.

  132. MURDER!

  133. “..inveterate kind of thuggish right-wing “neutralizing the enemy” tactics to Obama. If murder..” i think he taught the course.
[“This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.” So spewed the attackers of Melissa Coon’s 13-year-old son, as they doused him with gasoline and set him alight.]

  134. I can’t believe this! I am sitting here looking at all the headlines I missed earlier because I was at work… I am actually very shocked and saddened. This is very disturbing in many ways. My prayers are with his family. May God grant them peace and comfort.

We (the people who care about the country and seekers of knowledge) lost a huge voice and leader in the conservative movement, the fight against the main stream/bHO lap dogs and ultimately the battle to save our country.

In a selfish way, I can’t help but feel bad for myself and the movement. These are very strong emotions. This feels so wrong! RIP brother!

Psalm 116:15 – Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

  135. Obama conspiracy theories commencing in 5, 4, 3, 2…….

  136. There have been times when the death of a single person has altered the path of historical events. Our country needs those who will miss Andrew Breitart to step up, now.

This is my watch, and I am not going to settle for watching liars and thieves destroy this country.

I want to see those videos, and I want to see a real President in that White House, along with a turnover of the Senate.

I am a Democrat, and the recent behavior of my party at the national level is not tolerable.

  137. Charles Johnson: “From all accounts, Andrew was a good man who loved his life and children, and I want to extend my sincere condolences for their loss”

Shirley Sherrod: “My prayers go out to Mr. Breitbarts family as they cope with through this very difficult time”

  138. Valerie #156

    Stop calling yourself a Dem.
I’ve read enough of your posts over the past year to see that you’re a conservative.
Just drop that ridiculous label. You belong in this party.
Remember Breitbart used to be a liberal.
Look what a ferocious Conservative he turned into.

  139. Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
while I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
    Come true, right now

Swear to God, I’m a Lyndon Johnson-Barbara Jordan Liberal. I do feel a whole lot like Joe Lieberman, though. I also didn’t know Andrew Brietbart used to self-identify as a Liberal. That may be why he got so angry with the current crop of Democrats: the way the Democrats have subverted honest Liberal values through policies any reasonable person would recognize as likely to have perverse results, is disgusting. I think his justice bone may have gotten offended.

  141. ANDREW

I met Andrew Breitbart in 2005 when I was asked to write for the Huffingtpon Post. He was running the show. Everyone who knew him – left and right – said he was brilliant, eccentric, one of a kind. I instantly fell in love with the guy. To this day, i’ve never met anyone as fearless. He was my first guest on Redeye, a show I got largely because he told people about me. He became a cheerleader for my work, but more important, a dear close friend I could confide in, about anything. My wife called him the wizard, for he could conjure up anything at any time with limitless energy.

He’s the only person I know who operated without a safety net. He always knew things would turn out the way they were supposed to – so he didn’t worry about money or, i guess, his health, too much.

He was the spiritual leader of the modern conservative, libertarian cause. He was immersed in pop culture and wished to drag the right into the modern world – knowing this is how America speaks to the world. He was the heart of the matter. The fighter. Losing him is like a fiery planet going dark.

My heart felt condolences go out to Susie and the kids.

  142. I only spoke once with Andrew Breitbart. He reached out to me, and we spoke by phone. The topic is not important, but I was shocked that he even knew who I was; but as I’ve come to learn, Andrew seemed to know who everyone was in the conservative blogosphere. He was just that way.

Since my wife called this morning to let me know of Andrew’s death, it has been hard to focus on anything else. In her words, we don’t have that many bright media lights, and to lose him hurts.

Andrew lived in a world without restraints. He could be who he wanted to be, a luxury few bloggers have, particularly those who blog under their own name and work for others.

I live in a world of restraints, and I envied Andrew’s freedom more than you can know.

Andrew is irreplaceable, but we would serve his memory well to aspire to more freedom of thought and more freedom of action.

I’ve often wondered where to go with this blog. I now know.

    In Memorandum: Andrew Breitbart.
I often think that my blog life (which is sporadic at best) is just a place for me to put my thoughts out there, and although my topics are serious, I don’t take blogging very seriously. But then you come across someone like Andrew Brietbart, who started out just like any other blogger, with an idea and a passion to convey the thoughts and beliefs they had onto others through this medium. That’s when you start to wonder if you couldn’t make a difference somehow, just by getting more involved, more active.

The world has lost a great voice in the fight for truth, and Conservative values today. Andrew Breitbart, founder of Big Journalism (and subsidiaries) died at 43 today. Andrew leaves behind his Wife and four children. Innovative Genius of New Media Dies at Age 43

Although I did not know him personally, I admired him for the balance he brought to a lopsided world of Journalism. God bless you Andrew, Rest in Peace.

  144. RIP Andrew : Just a few weeks ago at CPAC, he came out and said that he had found damning video of Obama during his college years, and was going to expose him for who he really was………Today he is dead, or should I say murdered…..We still haven’t heard how Whitney Houston died, but yet this guy dies last night, and it’s already deemed natural causes……GIVE ME A FREAKEN BREAK

  145. I have a feeling Breibart is giving the liberals in Heaven a hissy fit.

    Prayers and thank you, Breibart.

  146. Tribute to Breibart

  147. I’m just coming on line after a busy day away from the news and am shocked. This is awful, just awful, and I am speechless. In the few short years he’s been active, he’s done so much more than any other activist I can think of.

Just a huge, huge loss. He deserves a warrior’s accolades. Fearless, courageous, funny, acerbic. I wish he had been my friend.

  148. Do some people seriously believe that you can’t die of natural causes at 43? Come on, tell us what’s in those damning vids??? Hope they actually exist and weren’t just a publicity stunt. I guess if they never surface, you can blame it on the WH.

  149. You have to be steeped in paranoia to assume he was murdered. Welcome to Gateway Pundit, Where Dumb Finally Made a Comeback! Sharia Law, people! It’s happening, and gay marriage is a sure sign!

  150. I am so very sad. What a huge loss! My heart goes out to his family.

  151. Law professor William Jacobsen has a moving tribute to Breitbart – “A Personal Note on the death of Andrew Breitbart” wherein he announces that he now knows what to do with his blogging and outreach (Legal Insureection is a fabulous blog that has followed Wisconsin politics in an amazing way over the last year of astonishing events)…..

    http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/03/a-personal-note-on-the-death-of-andrew-breitbart/#comments

Like you, Professor Jacobsen (someone I have admired more and more over the year as I am a conservative teacher living on the front of Madison, WI) – I now know what my efforts need to be in light of the loss of our flag holder – our rock star – or reminder that real liberals evolve into real conservatives as they continue to stay engaged in their skepticism of Big Government.

I am with you 100%. This matters – that we keep the flag running through the field even though the brightest (most effective) flag holder has been laid down…..

I now know what to do – just like you.

  152. Chris Christie should fly the state flag at half-mast, even if Breitbart wasn’t from New Jersey.

  153. Rest in Peace Brave Warrior! You left us far too early!!

We’re ALL OVER this on Common Cents…

  154. If it was a high tech hit, I mightn’t be so quick on blaming the left. If, and that’s a BIG IF, it was a high tech hit, it could very well have been by the establishment right!

  155. Andrew, In God’s eyes, your work has been done. You’re courage rubbed off on so many of us. In that way, you are not truly gone. It is now up to us to take up the fight you did the heavy lifting for all of us.

Jim, It may be too soon, but I think the Conservative bloggers group would do well to institute an “Andrew Breitbart” award.

  156. How very shocking and sad.

  157. We have to defeat Obama now! Breitbart would have wanted it! We have to stop Obama for our country and for him!

    ~

Rest in peace, Mr Breitbart. And thank you for everything you gave us.

  158. How can Obama lose to flip-flop Romney? His Mormonism alone will cost him millions of votes. The big O has this election in the bag, and his critics will continue to turn up on slabs in the morgue.

  159. Andrew and others like him have restored my faith in my generation. I am not alone.

    The Ghost of Breitbart commented:

“His Mormonism alone will cost him millions of votes.”

Well, that certainly will be an argument the Democrats will use.

  161. Orson Bean (Breitbart’s father-in-law) stated to Reuters in a phone interview that he was not aware of any heart problems that Andrew had had. Interesting that Reuters quotes an anonymous “friend” saying that he did have heart problems.

  162. Jim, I am so sorry for the pain you must be feeling at the loss of your dear friend. Andrew was a true hero. May his light shine within our hearts eternally.
I linked to and quoted you in my tribute to Andrew Breitbart here:
A Great American Hero Has Died
    http://marezilla.com/2012/03/a-great-american-hero-has-died/

  163. Rubbed out???!

  164. Unbelievably sad to have lost a conservative hero today. We must all pick up where he left off.

  165. Tragic news? I think it’s GREAT news. Breitbart was one of the people responsible for Operation Chaos. He tried to disenfranchise 10′s of thousands of Americans. May he rot in Hell!

  166. i will neither mourn nor dance on his grave.

  167. I don’t believe for one minute that this was a death of natural causes. Andrew had damaging tapes on barack hussein obama. This was meant as a warning.

Wake up folks. Andrew was murdered. Show the tapes. NOW!

  168. That is very attention-grabbing, You’re an excessively professional blogger. I have joined your feed and stay up for in quest of more of your excellent post. Additionally, I have shared your web site in my social networks
