Tragic News: Conservative Hero Andrew Breitbart Is Dead at 43

Our dear friend Andrew Breitbart passed away last night in Los Angeles.
He was 43.
Andrew collapsed last night after leaving a restaurant. He was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead early this morning. He was walking home alone at the time. A bystander saw him collapse and immediately called for an ambulance.

Andrew was a conservative hero and true American patriot. He was generous with his time. He was a devoted friend. He was the definition of raw courage.

I first met Andrew Breitbart in 2007 on our trip to Israel where we met with Benjamin Netanyahu.

We travelled Israel as guests of America’s Voices and Voices for Israel organizations.

Andrew leaves behind a wife and four children.

Andrew Breitbart spoke at a conference for black conservatives last August in St. Louis. I ran into Andrew after the banquet for this picture.

Breitbart reported:

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Thank you for your courage, strength, honesty and devotion.

At CPAC 2012 the trailer for Hating Breitbart was released.
The movie will be released this spring.
It received a Standing Ovation–

Hating Breitbart Trailer…

What sad news. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: The far left is already celebrating his death.

UPDATE:  Andrew Breitbart may have suffered a heart attack.  According to Reuters, “A friend of Breitbart told Reuters he had a history of heart problems and is believed to have suffered a heart attack”.

Here’s one more picture.

I took a chopper ride with Andrew Breitbart, Larry and other bloggers over Israel and down to Gaza in 2007.
