Americans are suffering from record gas prices under Barack Obama.

A feisty Barack Obama mocked drilling for oil today in his speech on energy. Democrats killed another Arctic drilling project this month. This comes after Obama rejected the Keystone pipeline project. US gas prices at the pump have doubled since the Obama took office.
Today Obama mocked drilling for oil.
AFP reported:
A feisty President Barack Obama ridiculed his Republican adversaries’ plans to ease soaring gasoline prices Thursday, saying Americans would not fall for strategies that can be written on a bumper sticker.
“Some politicians always see this as a political opportunity. Only in politics do people greet bad news so enthusiastically,” he said accusing his rivals of trying to profit from high prices and the pumps.
The American Automobile Association has predicted average prices across the country could reach $4.25 a gallon by May, up from $3.61 today.
“Since it’s an election year, they’re already dusting off their three-point plans for two dollar gas. I’ll save you the suspense: Step one is drill, step two is drill, and step three is keep drilling,” he said in prepared remarks.
“We heard the same thing in 2007, when I was running for president. We hear the same thing every year. We’ve heard the same thing for thirty years.”
“Well the American people aren’t stupid. You know that’s not a plan — especially since we’re already drilling. It’s a bumper sticker. It’s not a strategy to solve our energy challenge.”
This guy’s energy plan is nuts.

Gee, last time I checked 5-10 years is considerably shorter than almost 35 years, and we are now more dependent on dictators and tyrants for our oil than ever before.
The Dems, by their words and actions, don’t want America to be energy independent, they want Americans to be in thrall to government control.

Not drilling has doubled gas prices since Obama has taken over. That doesn’t mean drilling would lower prices (though it would), but it certainly means you’d be stupid to keep doing the same thing you’re doing (NOT drilling) and expect a different result (gas prices magically go down because you want them to).

The only people that are better off than they were 4 years ago are your big campaign contributors. When I came out about thirty minutes (okay, maybe 45 mins) later, the same gas station had raised the price to $3.95. This was only moments ago. With rumors of gas hitting $6 in some parts of FL, this is just plain scary.

If we allowed construction of new refineries, and yes the Keystone oil pipeline, we would be better off. Californians outlawed offshore drilling years ago. You want lower gas prices? Great, here’s how:
release federal lands for drilling where the geo surveys have already been done
dump the federal government approval process that now takes 18 months when it was less than 9 months under George W. Bush
end the designer blends in gasoline. Pick a midway blend and tell California if they want it, there it is but refineries in Texas are not going to create 5 different blends for one state, California.

Patty commented:
The concept of turning algae into fuel is in its infancy and may never happen, but that won’t stop the Potemkin POTUS from touting it as just the ticket for replacing fossil fuels.
President Obama admitted today that he does not have a “silver bullet” solution for skyrocketing gas prices, but he proposed alternative energy sources such as “a plant-like substance, algae” as a way of cutting dependence on oil by 17 percent.
“We’re making new investments in the development of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that’s actually made from a plant-like substance, algae — you’ve got a bunch of algae out here,” Obama said at the University of Miami today. “If we can figure out how to make energy out of that, we’ll be doing alright. Believe it or not, we could replace up to 17 percent of the oil we import for transportation with this fuel that we can grow right here in America.”
The Department of Energy (DOE) currently spends about $85 million on 30 research projects “to develop algal biofuels,” according to the White House, which announced that Obama is committing another $14 million to the idea. (Read More)
Oh, how nice that he’s committing millions more of our dollars to this pie in the sky idea. If algae is the silver bullet we need, why aren’t private investors rushing to get in on it?

I’ve done this before and it wasn’t easy, but I kept up until I was able to get through. It was worth it. And what am I talking about? The last time gas got up to $4.40 a gallon. When you hear Obama and others talking about, “It’s the speculator’s that are driving up the price of gas.”, some of that is true. There are so many varitable’s in how a gallon of gas is priced that it would take a person of multi-disiplines to figure it all out and then be able to put into words everyone could understand without getting into the math, and then seventy-five percent would be lost right away.
I worked my way through the New York Stock Exchange website one time until I got to the email of the office of the president of the stock exchange who as part of their job was over the speculator’s. I wrote him and told him that I was a fiscal conservative and wanted everyone to make as much money as they could, of course. But, I said, you have an obligation to watch and see if a point is being reached where profits are actually hurting the economy. I told him that once that point is reached you have to tell your speculator’s that’s “it” and draw the line on profits. From that point on they have to work hard on stabelizing the price if not bring it down a bit.
And that is true. But usually profits don’t reach that point, and as a matter of fact don’t hardly ever reach that point. That’s why speculator’s can go in every morning and work to raise the price a bit and get the commission of sales of barrels of oil for their clients so that everybody makes money. But when you figure in other factor’s and those factor’s are being added to by negative actions on the part of the government to not put more oil into the pipeline, all you have to work with is what is there. And after awhile your profits top out. What do you do then? Keep going? Don’t come into work, because if you do your clients are going to want more money. Do you tell them “no”?
There should be a concerted effort on the part of the speculator’s to stabalize the price per barrel so that there is no damage to the economy. And that’s not happening because what OPEC is doing. We don’t hear that much about OPEC anymore. We used to hear those letters all the time when the price of oil was going up and down like a bouncing ball, they usually had something to do with it.
Here’s something I hadn’t tried before but I think it would be worth the effort. Try to find some email or phone number of some big CEO or somebody and email them or better yet call them and telll them to lower their profit and lower the price of gas. That they are responsible for what is happening right now, and they have an obligation to not hurt the economy. Tell them “Screw Obama, screw the government that controls you, tell them to tell whoever to go to hell that you don’t want to leave the legacy of being responsible for causing the economy to collapse, or worse to cause so much business to be lost that it hurt the oil company in turn and that you weren’t able to recover ever again. That would be a hell of a note if they caused that to happen.
Tell them that it’s Obama’s pledge to use Alinsky methods of disruption to our society and to use Cloward-Piven in destableizing the economic controls on business and cash flow in our country, and Obama’s allegence to the Communist Party to bring America down with whatever means justify’s the end. (And that is Alinsky also), and tell them in the name of all that is American capitalism, please lower your profit on gas so that the price at the pump will come down and stay down regardless of what it happening in the Middle East. We know that America only brings in 7% of our total energy needs from the Middle East, and that’s just not enough to keep this pain that they are allowing to continue. Obama is not going to help us and we need them to help US to bring America back from the brink of disaster!!
Tell them we must all work together to push Obama and his agenda to destroy our nation through economic hardship and we just are not going to allow him to do that to us. Are you with us or against us?? Do you want to continue to make profits or do you want to see this nation go down?? If is does and the oil companies will be guilty for their part in it, then there won’t be any coming back from the bottom of the pit America will fall into.
So what’s it going to be profits in the long term and sustainability, or no profits and no business anymore from the worlds largest consumer of oil in the world?? Profits now, or no profits later on?? If they don’t lower the cost of gas at the pump there won’t be a later on!!

Barack Obama has worked for higher gas prices for years. Some in his administration even admitted it because it would push people to mass transportation and make alternative fuels more attractive. If we could fuel the world on something other than algae, we might just have a solution. Hmmm, now what magical substance that produces gas does the Obama administration have in abundance?
Jerry M commented:
Obama once again has demonstrated that he has two great character flaws that should disqualify him as our national leader. He is a pathological liar and never accepts responsibility for his own failures always blaming others. If he is re-elected, there will be little doubt a majority of the electorate is either too stupid to recognize this or they themselves are of such little character that they think this is normal.
We have known for 35 years that we are vulnerable to supply/price manipulation by OPEC and other oil producing countries that don’t like us. In addition to labor unions, trial lawyers and Planned Parenthood, the Democrat party is owned by radical environmental groups like the Sierra Club. Radical environmentalists are an important part of the Democrat base which is the reason Democrats have obstructed since the 70′s all attempts to become energy independent. The Republican Party and its candidates need to get off their ass and start getting this message out. Obama and the Democrats have been giving Republicans one gift after another but I have yet to see the stupid party take meaningful advantage.
Greg commented:
I watched his speech real time and have a few thoughts…….
He claims that the unrest in the Middle east is what drives the speculators to price up the cost of oil and therefore its not his responsibility. Well as President of the most influential nation in the world he does have some accountability for the screwed up mess in Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Bahrain, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia. He and Hilliary need to stand up be accounted for.
The speech he gave was shallow to the point of sounding like the Pied Piper fluting the the mice. I understand that this speech was the business portion of the fundraising trip through Florida that justified use of Air-force One. Speech quality was so bad that we should demand that his campaign refund the true cost of air-force one.
He is combative to the point that I respect that no ones wants to talk to him
L.E. Liesner commented:
If you remember he said that he would have the deficit under control in three years, well it’s over three years and all he has done is double the deficit. Now he tell us that the oil problem can’t be fixed overnight. Look at his so called alternative energy programs. Same failure as his deficit solving venture, is he going to double that failure too. His whole administration is one huge comedy act, and we don’t need comedians running our country.

This morning, I saw a gas station on the way to work with $4.43 per gallon for the highest level gasoline. FUBO!

If paying more than $60 to fill the gas tank of your car or SUV is a shock, imagine being Doug Champion, who pays $1,000 or more every time he fills up at the pump.
Mr. Champion is an independent truck driver who travels from New England to Dallas, Texas, and back. He can get roughly 1,100 miles per 300 gallons of diesel fuel. With prices reaching above $4 a gallon for diesel, Mr. Champion is looking at $1,200 a tank should he drive till he is on empty.
“There’s no way I can make this up,” Mr. Champion, who lives on Long Island, N.Y., and hauls frozen foods, said as he filled up at the Charlton Service Plaza on the Massachusetts Turnpike yesterday. “If it goes above $5 a gallon, I’m done.”
Diesel fuel prices have risen to more than $4 a gallon, and truck drivers across the country are expecting to pay $5 or more by summer, if not sooner. Locally, diesel prices range from $3.99 to $4.14.
“In general, fuel is the single biggest operating cost of an owner-operator,” said Norita Taylor, spokeswoman for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association based on Grain Valley, Mo. “We’re starting to see some concern, but it is not as bad as 2008, when prices skyrocketed almost overnight in April.”
At that time, drivers like Mr. Champion recalled paying $5.25 or more per gallon.
Shawn Ivernizzi of Blackstone and Ed Shea of Mendon are drivers for Estes Express Lines in Shrewsbury.
They were fueling up at Flynn’s Truck Plaza on Route 20 in Shrewsbury yesterday morning. Mr. Ivernizzi said his first trip will be to Franklin, and which will likely use a quarter of the fuel in his two 80-gallon tanks.
He said he would top off later in the day before the truck heads to Scranton, Pa., and back. Mr. Ivernizzi put more than 90 gallons in his tank, at a cost of $393.76
As drivers for Estes, Mr. Ivernizzi and Mr. Shea are fortunate that they are not responsible for paying the fuel costs out of their pocket, but they have spoken to many fellow truck drivers who aren’t as lucky.
“I was here (at Flynn’s Tuesday) and talked to a road driver from Oregon who said this is it. It was his last trip before going back to Oregon and taking his truck off the road,” Mr. Shea said.
Peter Ferraro, manager of Flynn’s, said he has noticed his volume of customers down about 10 percent, and has noticed fewer independent contractors and owner-operators stop for fuel or rest. About 80 percent of his business is from bigger companies.
“Diesel has gone up 25 cents in the past week.” Mr. Ferraro said. “That gets passed on to the guy buying the hamburger or the ice cream.”
And the guys buying the burger or ice cream are the same ones paying for it at the pump.
Max J. Hames of Kansas, a truck driver hauling beef with Iowa-based Van Wyke, said he was an independent contractor until three years ago when the rising prices — of everything from fuel to tires to garage labor rates to food — forced him off the road.
“I don’t get fuel in this state,” Mr. Hames said. Rather, he fuels up in Carlisle, Pa., which will take him through his New England deliveries. Mr. Hames, who was resting in Kenworth before heading out early this morning to make a delivery in Andover, said New England has the highest fuel prices he’s seen.
Van Wyke supplies their drivers with an “optimized fuel directory” that rates places they suggest their drivers stop for fuel. Drivers get bonuses for maximizing their fuel.
“I live in Kansas and because we have so much oil out there, it pains me to pay so much,” Mr. Hames said. “Everything has gone up so much — my road expenses, my meals, my fuel. It’s hard to make a living.”

Obama is one piece of work. Tell this to the Truck drivers. They are alienating themselves with Obama, Obama is making many enemies and the voters will express their real thoughts come Nov.

$5.00 gas and its ramifications to the economy and the American people is hilarious if your wish has just been granted.

There are almost as many lies on this site as there is on FOX! Gas prices have not doubled since Obama took office. In the summer of 2008, prices hit $5 per gallon in California and were over $4 in many parts of the US. There is also more drilling going on today than any point in the US, so that is another myth! Newt is the real liar here as he knows the president has nothing to do with controlling the price of oil. He has finally stood up and said that we must find alternative fuels. He also refused the Keystone pipeline, because it was not going to produce as many jobs as it supposedly was supposed to, it is a huge environmental risk. There are over 14 leaks in a similar pipeline and it causes damage to the water supply. The final issue is that this oil is not even for us, rather for export! Forget that! You folks are totally snowed!

Obviously you assume we get our information from FOX, and you don’t yet have the ability to either do your own research or back up your comments. Take a look around, read a bit. You might be surprised to find out how much of what you “know” is misinformation fed you by people who don’t have your best interest in mind.

Obama is only half right. Last Summer I read an article in Scientific American, and yes I know they’re big environmentalists and anit-gunner’s, and no telling what else they are. But this article caught my eye because it was about making gasoline from weeds and grasses. There was this little R & D company that figured out how to make gasoline from grass and weeds like you’d find in a lot full of weeds, no matter what they were. They refuced the juices down and made gasoline, or near the equivalent, same octaine, same everything except the cost that would be about $.50 cents a gallon. But of course that’s now, probably not after the government and states, and cities add their taxes it’ll be back up to three dollars a gallon that only cost the makers…..well, nothing since they pulled the weeds up from a empty lot. They didn’t grow them and weeds have never been cultivated, fertilized, or any of the other stuff that’s presently going into cultivating let’s say, corn.
Gas from weeds. Pretty smart, huh?
We need to just understand something here right now that California is no way anywhere near the rest of the country, or even any part of the country for that matter. California is not part of the numbers that go into figuring the average price per gallon, let’s say, in my state. Here in Louisiana we’re averaging about $3.60 a gallon, not five dollars. And besides that’s only in that one particular city and at one or two gas stations who are gouging the hell out of their customers.
What needs to happen, and probably will pretty soon is those gas stations will be fire bombed and blown up. Why? Because people are pee-od at them for charging more than they should and ought to be turned into the government for price gouging, that’s all it is and that’s price gouging.
I doubt we’ll see anywhere near that here where I live. When gas got to $4.20 a gallon and people were parking their cars and taking the bus or train instead of driving to near down town and parking and taking the shuttle bus into town to go to work It was people like Obama who was jumping up and down and clapping and shouting Hooray!! He loves it when American’s are suffering. And he’s really enjoying it now that for one thing he’s President when it is getting bad again, and he’s got his Alinsky goon squads out in force with their signs telling people it’s going to get higher. Saul Alinsky rule, “Keep the pressure up.” And by watching how the American people are acting, he knows what to do next.
WillofLa commented:
It’s like I’ve said before, I watched what happened to our economy when after the “October Surprise” gas got to $4.40 a gallon and small businesses were dropping like flies, and major corporations were getting ready to lower the boom on us price-wise, the big oil companies knew they were about to screw up royally and dropped the price of gas quick to avoid and permanent damage to our country. Don’t think they haven’t been watching what the public have been doing, and what affect that holding the price of gas at $3.50 a gallon is having now. Before, in ’08 they saw that small businesses were shutting down routes in order to stay in business at that price, and this time they’ve been doing it, but a bit more slowly.
The old adage that American’s will get used to anything so long as it’s done slow enough is not true in this particular situation. When you mess with gas, you mess with the bull, and American can, have, and are doing what they need to do in order to save money and that is, they stop driving so much. So much so, and don’t think the oil companies haven’t seen a significant drop in their revenue from gas sales from American’s stopping driving, that the only thing the oil companies could do because of orders from Obama to NOT release more gas to the gas stations so the price would drop again below three dollars a gallon, have had to get rid of it some how. So the oil companies have been selling it overseas to foreign countries!! There is such an abundance in gasoline in this country, especially from the oil from several places inside the U.S. that finally got permits to pump oil that there is so much gasoline that the oil companies have got to get rid of it, there’s so much.
“But”, you say, ” if there is that much, and so much that we should be paying below three dollars a gallon, then why haven’t we? What’s the matter the greedy oil companies don’t want to hurt their damn fat profits?” No, on the contrary. If they were allowed to sell it, they would. But Obama doesn’t want America’s economy to recover because we’ve got more gas and at a lower price. See, that doesn’t fit what he’s been telling the American people for the past year and ahalf and that is that HE HAS FIXED THE ECONOMY WITH HIS STIMULUS money. Obama money has fixed the economy, not gasoline in cars driven by American’s who just can’t stay out of their precious cars. He doesn’t want us in those cars. They’re messing up the planet, remember? Because of cheap gasoline we’ve caused weather to change in foreign countries causing their crops to fail and now they are starving because of the pollution drifting over their country and messing with the weather. That’s what Maurice Strong has been telling the U.N., and that is America is still driving their cars and running their air conditioning in their homes and having it in their place of work, and it’s America who is the largest polluters in the world, and we need to be shut down!! For Good!!
That’s why we are being made to pay $5.00 a gallon, and Obama administration people are saying America needs to paying as much as European nations have to pay in order to make us stop using fossil fuels for driving. That would be about $9 or $10 dollars a gallon!!
Now, do you liberals still want to vote Obama a second term? If he does get a second term we will never drive cars again, and only the rich would be able to afford gasoline, just like you see in Europe where only wealthy people drive their big BMW’s around.
