Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) pledged to continue fighting for the thousands of much-need jobs the pipeline will create – especially for those hit hardest by the Obama administration’s disastrous economic policies.

“President Obama is destroying tens of thousands of American jobs and shipping American energy security to the Chinese.”

The Republican Speaker released this statement today:

At a press conference today, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and other House Republicans blasted the Obama administration’s decision to deny new jobs to tens of thousands of Americans and surrender America’s energy security to China by rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline. Speaker Boehner pledged to continue fighting for the thousands of much-need jobs the pipeline will create – especially for those hit hardest by the Obama administration’s disastrous economic policies. Following are video and text of Speaker Boehner’s remarks:

“President Obama is destroying tens of thousands of American jobs and shipping American energy security to the Chinese. There’s really – there’s no other way to put it: the President is selling out American jobs for politics.

“The President was given the authority to block this project only – and only – if he believes it’s not in the national interest of the United States. Is it not in the national interest to create tens of thousands of jobs here in America with private investment? Is it not in the national interest to get energy resources from an ally like Canada as opposed to some countries in the Middle East?

“The President has said he’ll do anything that he can to create jobs. Today that promise was broken. The president expedited the approval of the Solyndra loan project, but won’t approve a project that’s been under review for over three years.

  1. That any president would be given such authority is ludicrous. Since this is a private venture, get the states on board to go ahead with the project and damn Zero and anyone else who tries to get in the way. Push back.

    the rest of the announcement:

so i’m just letting you know that we are going to do something about it,
like, like, like making this announcement as many times as we have to vs
actually doing something about it so as to give him enough time to get it
done then i’m off the hook and will disappear until his next move, which
i’ll be proud to announce as well.. thank you very much..

  11. What a feckless, pathetic president. How did we, America, end up with such a loser? Please, oh please, don’t let it happen again!!

  12. Talk is cheap, Boehner.

What are you going to do about it? How about a debt ceiling decrease if Keystone is not approved this week, debt ceiling stays the same if it is.

Call this a##hat President’s bluff, Boehner.

  13. You know the Chicoms need more energy for the ghost towns and malls they keep building and which no citizen can afford.

  14. Hey BONER….that’s the best you got…why don’t you try getting pissed off for a change…go on all news channels…talk about what a POS the mooslum is…you fukken kill me…we are doomed with this type of leadership…Hussein is laughing all the way to November….sickening

Or a communist country. Banning drilling in the Gulf, the Cubans start off-shore drilling. Nix the Keystone pipeline, the ChiComs buy the Canadian oil.

Too little, far too late Speaker Boehner. You should have been like a fly on garbage from the start instead of enjoying all your golf outings with Barry.

  17. BHO – Putting the POS in POtuS since 2009.

  18. Speaker Boehner. You are useless. You’ve let this man continue to destroy this nation, when you know he isn’t who he says he is, and more than likely wasn’t born here. Why are you all letting him do this? YOU BEAR HALF THE RESPONSIBILITY, BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T CHECK HIS ORIGINS.

Most of the US manufacturing that got shipped overseas used oil, and conveniently a lot of that heavy industry went to China. Their need for oil is legitimate, and now there are no pesky environmental concerns that plague manufacturing here in the US.

  20. The only Gov. in this country with spine is Scott Walker. The rest just foolishly go along with an impostor president. He’s doing what he’s doing, because THEY LET HIM!

  21. So, now all the Greenies at the EPA and every where else should be happy …. Hopefully, this will be the thing that finally proves to Americans that the environmentalists do not care about saving Americans — they put saving lizards, smelt, turtles, etc., above jobs.

  22. President Obama is destroying tens of thousands of American jobs and shipping American energy security to the Chinese.

Nothing His job “czar” isn’t already doing.

  23. Sooo…. Club Boehner is back on the job…Quite a nice Holiday vacation.. The week before Chtistmas all the way to MLK day.

  24. Pathetic GOP. Do something and quit talking about what you are going to do. Give the democrat rats a bloody nose!!

  25. Well, I thought Boener did a good job with it. He’s not a flashy speaker. I think he’s doing the best he can personally do, and it was pretty damning of the president.

One of the problems in politics is that a lot of Americans aren’t very involved. So if Boener really goes after Obama he seems like he’s railing (when in reality he’s pointing out the obvious).

To those who listened to this, it’s a hard one to carve out negative sound bytes from, and it makes the point very well to the non-politically attuned.

  26. Neil Cavuto: “Ron Paul is Obama’s toughest competitor”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aqZx6gMF2lM

  27. Don’t really care about the non-politically attuned. Boehner is just plain too weak. Meanwhile Democrats can say and do anything they want no matter how outrageous (see Pelosi). BG’s comment hit the nail on the head.

  28. This clearly confirms that Obama is nothing more then a hyper-partisan Democratic Socialist – as if we ever had any doubts. And he’s not the only one. There are thousands of liberals that stand fast right behind him on this decision.

I am no longer going to just sit around and wait for November to take action against these liberal vermin that are ruining our country. Our company now has a totally new set of procedures when it comes to hiring. We are going to check new candidates political affiliations down at the county. When people come in for an interview, we are checking for political bumper stickers on their cars. We are checking people’s Facebook pages, Linked-in pages and doing a thorough internet search to see if we can learn about their political affiliations.

We are doing thorough criminal background checks and searching the court records to see if people have engaged in litigation and if so, why. We are going to make every effort to weed out the liberals and not hire them. If we have the slightest doubt about someone’s political affiliations – they will NOT get hired. We don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

In addition, the worm that is causing our entire nation to rot is our failed liberal-controlled educational system. I am writing all congressional Reps, Senators and State Reps to get the ball rolling to get the federal government OUT of the business of cultivating liberal lemmings for the Democratic party. Until we rid academe of the liberal plague that now controls it, we are wasting our time trying to fight off the Democratic Socialists because our school systems are churning out constituents for their party like mad.

  29. Guys, Boehner made as strong a statement as is appropriate under the circumstances. Now, if you want to see this pipeline go through, WRITE YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN, focussing particularly on the DEMOCRATS and any Republican Senators that may have opposed it. And take particular care to to be polite and reasonable.

    Be courteous, but swamp them.

The way to keep Boehner from being “useless” and all the other nasty words that have been applied to him so far, is to write your congress critters and say you support his efforts to push this project through.

Mr. Boehner’s potency is in your hands. ;-)

  30. Valerie the dirty little secret is that Congressional members don’t really pay any attention to a constituent’s concerns especially if a Republican writes to a Demo senator or congressman. I have a stack of replies to my correspondence that never address the issue. Some of the responses are downright dumb and condescending. Just got one today as a matter of fact. They assume the voters are not very bright. They have staff compose “form letters” to use in replies to constituents. Call them at their offices and you get “I’ll be sure to tell the Congressman/Senator your concerns”, and I’m convinced they never do anything with the call.I basically write to them just to make myself feel better even though I know it won’t do any good. We need term limits.

    Teresa commented:

The form replies are really, really annoying, I agree. That’s why they have to be swamped. All they really do is keep a tally of of yes and no. But it does work, provided enough people respond.

  32. Y’know, you could always cc the Speaker of the House, when you are writing a Democrat. That would make it just a little harder to ignore it. Copy him on the letters to the Senate, too, because he took point on this issue.

    ;-)

    Valerie

when was the last time that tactic worked??

what have “we the people” successfully
    changed the course of recently/lately??

seriously, the majority ignore us ..
