DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz: Religious Groups “Shouldn’t Be Imposing Their Values on Employees” (Video)

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz told Megyn Kelly today that all women deserve free contraceptives. (Really? Since when?)

Wasserman Schultz also insisted that religious institutions shouldn’t be imposing their values on their employees… (That’s the job of the government)

You got that?… Religious groups shouldn’t be imposing values on society – That’s government’s role.
Lord help us.

Most employers actually do “impose their religious beliefs” on their employees when they decided that Sunday was a “day of rest”. Like who? well, the government on all levels tells their employees to take Sunday off. Some Jewish employers close on Saturday. Private companies and some retail establishments are closed on Sunday. Most unions claim that working on Sunday or Christian holidays like Christmas should be declared a double-time day.

Sunday is the Christian “day of rest”.

Don’t think for a minute the commies aren’t working overtime behind the scenes:

A fascinating theory has been advanced by Dick Morris, which, in turn, is being considered by Rush Limbaugh and other leading conservatives. Morris speculates that the Obama HHS mandate on contraception, sterilization, and abortifacients is a fight with the Catholic Church that Team Obama wants — and with the focus based narrowly on contraception, not abortifacients.
If Obama can frame his mandate as a matter of contraceptive freedom — rather than an obvious constitutional affront on religious liberty — he may be able to successfully pit large numbers of Protestants and even many Catholics against the institutional Catholic Church. It would be the kind of religious agitation that would make the Marxists of the last century — particularly Obama’s mentor — very proud. How’s that for “hope” and “change”?

I don’t understand the mentality of those who claim you’re being prevented from obtaining something if the government doesn’t force somebody else to subsidize (or pay) its cost for you.

It’s also hard to comprehend the stupidity of those who don’t realize that putting contraceptives in an insurance policy completely subverts the whole concept of insurance — or that funneling any regular, foreseeable expense through insurance makes it costlier.

Instead, Dems imagine that they’re getting it all “free.”

  • coolidgerules

And to think that this election is just a mere 9 months away. This is going to be a full frontal assault on every right that Americans hold dear (most of us anyway). This is going to be ugly, as King Putt is trying his damndest to pit every group against another hoping for a reaction. Siummer is going to be bad- gas over $4 a gallon and the cost of everything else is going up. Keep our head held high, this is going to test our resolve.

  • aprilnovember811

#12, As a Catholic, I can assure you this won’t work. We view it as an attack on our faith, whether we agree with contraception of not. I don’t know any woman who’s ever had a problem getting contraception. They’ve written their political obituary. We aren’t stupid. They’ve seriously miscalculated. We’ve enjoyed religious freedom our entire lives. We don’t take kindly to someone who’s origins I don’t even know coming into our country and attacking it.

Another think I’m certain of. He’s no Christian, and anyone who’s ever believed that doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. He needs to go back home, TO HELL.

No, the government should be telling us these things. Like what kind of lightbulbs I can buy, what kind of insurance I am required to buy, what kind of car I’m supposed to buy, what my public utility uses to generate electricity, whether I’m allowed to own a gun, whether I am allowed to hire non-union employees, how much I have to contribute in property taxes to prop up union teachers’ pension funds, how much I have to contribute to Friends of the President like the zombies from ACORN and Solyndra, where we’re allowed to drill for oil and run pipelines. You know, the truly important things.

I want to know is Debbie on birth control pills? Or are her and her husband still having sex? Did she have to buy them with her own money, or did her insurance pay for them and she got them free? Does she think it would be alright for her to pay so that some so-called poor woman could get birth control pills free? But since insurance are a business that is in the business to make money, would raise her premium she or her husband pays the insurance company every month just so some other woman who also has a job and pays for alot of stuff herself, wouldn’t have to pay just for this one thing? Does she think that would be “fair”, or “equal”? Fair for who? Equal to what?

Since I know that everything that comes from liberals is for the benefit of Blacks, it’s being “equal” to what White people are able to do for themselves by having the money from working for it. Black so-called poor, would just get more rights they don’t deserve and get a benefit the government puts upon all insurance companies so that Blacks could get what they want and not have to pay for it, but get it none the less, and would have the same stuff White people have. This is what liberal Democrats have been doing for Blacks since the 60’s, since liberals believed that the reason why Blacks didn’t have all the same stuff as Whites was because White people stole what they have, went around the rules, ignored the laws, and kept Blacks from having opportunities they had a right to so White people could stay in control. So liberals took it upon themselves to see to it that Whites systematically have all their rights, freedoms, and liberties, benefits from working, access to things Whites established long ago for everyone’s benefit not just White people. Liberals have made sure that this agenda is strongly pursued so that White people see what it’s like being discreminated against, denied based on racial reasons, and have the rewards from their hard work taken from them so they can become poor, homeless, and discreminated against just like White people did to Blacks for so long in America.

Obama is going to see to it that White people loose everything they have so they can see what it’s like being Black. He’s going to see to it that White people loose jobs, that were denied Blacks, loose their home’s, that Whites denied Black people the opportunity by “Red Lining” loan applications just like Whites did to Blacks. Obama is going to see to it that Whites experience the anguish, humility, and poverty that Whites forced Blacks through for generations. See how White people like being treated like a Black!!

Religious institutions shouldn’t be imposing their values on their employees, Debbie? That sounds like a value judgement. My values say you shouldn’t be imposing your values on religious institutions.

  • Srsly….?

Your values can say whatever they like…..until you are in an
employer. Then, employment laws trump your values.

  • WillofLa

So how do liberals explain the fact that there have been millions of Blacks who were able to work and accomplish just as much as any White person, and had the same rights White people have? How do they explain the fact that if a Black woman wanted birth control pills, she went to her doctor and got a prescription for them, and since abortion is legal right now, paid to have abortions in the privacy between them and the abortion clinc? And if a person went to work at a church usually meant they were members at that church and held the same beliefs that church had, wouldn’t like it if the church violated that employee’s religious beliefs by offering birth control and abortion to not only the employee’s but the members of the church as well. Would Debbie like it if she was a member of a church who didn’t believe in birth control and abortion, and the government came in there and told the church they had to violate their religious beliefs and provide something their religion was against? That is all this is.

And how would Debbie like it if the government decided to put this benefit onto the churches insurance company in which the member’s of the church still had to pay for something they didn’t believe was within their belief structure. Paying for something to a company that the church funds, is still going along with what the government wants that church to do by way with the money the members pays to that company.

How hard is that to understand?

  • wanumba

There seems to be a firming up of the cultural divide in the States: those that adhere to the Constitution, those who don’t, those who use contraceptives and those who don’t.

The self-induced barren versus the fertile.

    dead versus live.

The one group is necessarily getting larger due to what the barren bunch calls ‘breeders’ so the barren, dead-end culture suddenly realized they’re outnumbered so they need to stop it.

What absolute garbage! One of my sisters has diabetes and is on insulin. Her insurance through her husband’s job paid for her to have the pen form of insulin, which worked very well for her. Hubby changed jobs, the new insurance company does not pay for the pen, only the old fashioned needles, which really aren’t optimal for her, but that is what they cover. If she wants the pen, she pays for it herself or her hubby gets to find another job with different insurance.

  • Granny

And while I am at it, I just checked because I thought Debbie’s $700 a year sounded a whole lot over the top. Birth control pills cost $15-50 per month, depending on the brand, so between$180 and $600 a year. An office visit over and above the annual visit that the insurance company would pay for anyway would not be required.

Every time you hear Debbie or any other White liberal Democrat say the word, “poor” person, it’s a proven fact they are talking about their Black constituents, or Blacks in general. And everybody knows that the reason why our education system is in ruins is because White liberal democrats want Blacks to have the same educational “outcome” as White kids were able to accomplish on their own without any government help. It has been the norm for White liberal Democrats to cook up as many government programs that cost hundreds of billions of dollars in spending for the purpose of lifting Black life up to that of a White person.

Better housing, that Blacks didn’t care anything about having because if they did they would have worked in that direction, White liberal Democrats created the “Fair Housing Act”. That gave Blacks a right to buy into White neighborhoods so they could have better housing than they hadn’t shown any desire for before. Want better nutrition for “children”, code word for Black children, then pass a law requiring schools to provide breakfast, lunch, and after school snacks, and now evening supper for the children of the “poor” mothers of those children. There’s that word again. And who do you see getting “free” breakfast, lunch, and supper? Black children, and yeah, a sprinkling of White kids here and there. And look at what the government has done to school lunch programs that I can remember buying for $.50 cents when I was a kid in grade school. Money was being put back into the school expenditures by paying for what you want. This teaches children to pay for what you want in life, except for Blacks, they get it for free.

Don’t think there’s a conspiracy here to make White kids pay for Black kids to get their food for free? You bet.

And here we have Debbie demanding that “poor” mothers or women have access to contraception and abortion for “free”. Well, there’s those two words again. Who is it that will be paying for all of this “free” stuff that the “poor” will be getting the benefit from? And who are these “poor”? And who is having to pay for things going to them for “free”?

Don’t think Debbie is a racist? Think again. The definition of “racist” in the Webster’s dictionary is, ” Any policy or practice that benefits one race over all others.” Do we see policies and practices being adopted that benefit one race over all others? If policies and practices don’t benefit all the citizen’s equally and fairly overall, as our Constitution guarantee’s, then it is institutionalized racism. And the White liberal Democrat’s are guilty of committing racist establishment of policy and practice for the benefit of one race that will go along with these racist policies and vote for these politician’s to keep these benefits coming.

And Obama is the mastermind of Racism and establishment of Racist policy and practices to pay his people back for perceived discremination and denial of opportunities. It’s called “repairations” for political purposes to destroy this nation for nothing in the name of being “fair” and produce “equal outcome” for a people who claim to have those things denied them.

General Islamic Ruling on Contraception and Birth Control

[In general, most forms of contraception and birth control are forbidden.
But since Islam is a complete religion, we have the benefit of the Quran,
the hadith and traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),
the companions, and many learned scholars to help us come to an
    informed decision.

First, any sort of permanent birth control that is not for medical reasons is forbidden. So any medical procedure that leads to complete sterilization and is not medically required, is not allowed. This goes against the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad and if not done for medical reasons, is usually done for vain, selfish or impractical purpose.

    Physical Contraception

Physical methods of birth control are those that do not alter the body
in any way and simply prevent the sperm from meeting the egg. These
include methods like condoms, diaphragms, and coitus interrupts

There is a hadith related by Jaabir that says:

We used to engage in coitus interruptus at the time of the Messenger
of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). News of that
reached the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him), and he did not forbid us to do that.

    Related by Bukhari and Muslim

“Coitus Interruptus” is when the man withdraws from the woman before
ejaculation. From the above hadith, we can see that our Prophet (peace
and blessings be upon him) did not forbid this practice, hence it is
permissible. Since condoms and diaphragms essentially perform the
same function, they are both allowed also.

However, the man should only use these methods in agreement with
his wife as she has the right to bear children if she wants. And we
should also understand that the companions of Prophet Muhammad
usually used this method to prevent their slaves from getting pregnant,
    as the following hadith shows:

O Messenger of Allaah, I have a slave woman and I engage in ‘azl with
her, because I do not want her to get pregnant, but I want what men
want. But the Jews say that ‘azl is a lesser form of infanticide.” He said,
“The Jews are lying. If Allaah wants to create (a child) you cannot prevent

    Narrated by Abu Dawud.

Despite being allowed, many scholars believe these methods to
be makruh, or disliked. In other words, it is better to avoid them
if possible, though there is no sin in them. This comes from the
    following hadith:

Marry women who are loving and fertile, for I will be proud of your
great number before the other nations on the Day of Resurrection.

    Narrated by Abu Dawud.

From this we can see that it is better for us to
have as many children as Allah allows us to bear.]

albeit there’s a bit more at link, guess that about sums it up.. 😯

“Poor, White, and Invisible,” by Alpha Unit

America is permeated with cultural myths about White skin’s association with power, education, and opportunity. Capitalist society teaches that we all get what we deserve, so if a White man does not succeed, it can only be due to laziness. But just like Black and Latino ghetto-dwellers, poor laboring Whites live within a dead end social construction that all but guarantees failure.

If your high school dropout daddy busted his ass for small bucks and never read a book in his life and your mama was a textile mill worker, chances are you are not going to be recruited by Yale Skull & Bones and grow up to be President of the United States, regardless of our national mythology to that effect. You are going to be pulling an eight-buck-an-hour shift work someplace and praying for enough overtime to make the heating bill. A worker.

So What If More Whites are On Welfare?

[While welfare is often suspected of use by Republicans as a buzz word
against hostile Black Democratic majorities, it is a problem for everyone.
The issue still needs frank discussion. “Even the devil can quote scripture”
my late mother warned. Welfare hasn’t made low income communities of
all colors produce great returns on public dollars. Location and recipient
ethnicity are irrelevant in the broader sense. Neighborhoods like mine are
up to our throats in problems made by the current welfare system. Saying
other people get it more still doesn’t undo this system’s disproportionate
impact. My response remains the same, “So what if more Whites are on
    welfare!! ”

Look at what it’s doing to low income communities like mine.]

  • Kathteach

The Catholic Church has been admirably consistent about this issue and you should all stop arguing Catholic dogma when you do not know what you are really talking about. Like all species on earth, humans have sex to procreate. It is nature. Humans are part of nature. We are a species as much as other species.

Instead of arguing the right or wrong – in your humble opinions – of Catholic dogma, you should at least show respect for an ancient and enduring – and UNIVERSAL – religion that has been completely clear on this.

And when it comes to test tube babies and the creation of embryos to kill them for stem cells and finally – when it comes to man’s imagining he can be God and create a complex creature such as one of the human species – the Catholic Church will have been there and always will be there for clarity. You can rely on it.

No one is asking that everyone accept Catholic theology. Catholics are just asking for the same governmental recognition of faith that they extend so ridiculously to Islam now days – and to all other faiths.

It has NEVER been about birth control – Catholics have been clear all along. And I and dozens of my Catholic female friends do not remember being polled to validate the current Pelosi – Democrat Memo – MSNBC poll that says “98% of Catholics use birth control”.

This is a huge lie – completely unsubstantiated and impossible to validate.

This is not about contraception – Catholics have never wavered on this – ever.

This is about kicking the Pope in the balls – so easy to do in America. After all, the British and other European PROTESTants came here to escape religious tyranny four hundred years ago and guess what – the first thing they did was to ban Catholics from coming to America!

Thank God the Catholics are starting to get pissed off. Just wait until you see what we can do :- ) when we get really mad.

#1. So, a married woman in her 30′s who doesn’t want any more
children should just “keep her legs shut”? That’s an ingenious
solution. A married couple who want to wait a couple of year before
having children just shouldn’t have sex?

Health insurance & churches aside, you need to switch on your brain.

Might think about switching on yours too. No one is telling them not to have sex. Take the responsibility for your own birth control. The cost is very minimal and there is a wide variety of contraception available. If you can’t afford condoms ($0.50/each) or birth control pills ($4.00/mo. at Walmart), maybe you should be screwing less and working more. You reality challenged liberals are clearly incapable of reasoning on an even middle school level. But that is why your communist overlords love you all so much. You rejects can be lead around by the nose without even so muh as a wimper.

American is losing it way but there are those who are coming out as heroes of sorts. Pledging their faith and obeying their Lord Jesus Christ. Some have lose their way and the come out in anger or to spread the word that we don’t need values. The Catholic Church has always taught their congregation to love God. Live by his example.

This is not about values, it is about the Catholic Church being mandate to supply something that is complete opposite of what the believe and it is unconstitutional.

I take umbrage with Schultz of all people who delights in this to express VALUES. Really, she is telling us about values. This administration is one of the sickest and evil and I suggest that we pray for repeal of Obama Care and in November vote them out of office.

Obama Compromise is a HILL OF BEANS

Just as the mainstream media initially failed to report the erupting controversy over President Obama’s contraceptive mandate, they are again ignoring the sustained uproar against it. MSM thinks Obama’s faux concession on February 10 settled the matter. According to The Hill on February 13:

The furor over President Obama’s birth-control insurance mandate appears to have vaporized as quickly as it blew up.

The White House faced just two questions on the issue at a briefing with reporters Monday, just days after the intense controversy threatened to swamp the president’s reelection campaign.

To be fair, liberal journalists may simply have difficulty seeing the assault on religious freedom.

But if anything, the rhetoric on our side has intensified. In an Associated Press interview yesterday, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, who is president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, came as close as possible to calling Obama a liar:

“I want to take him at his word,” Dolan said in Rome, where he will be made a cardinal Saturday. But he stressed: “I do have to say it’s getting harder and harder,” to believe Obama’s claim to prioritize religious freedom issues given the latest controversy….

Initially, Dolan had termed Obama’s compromise as “a first step in the right direction” after hearing about it Friday morning. But later that day, Dolan’s USCCB issued a statement rejecting it, saying the arrangement was unacceptable and raised “serious moral concerns.”…

“Was what was intended to be a concession, and what gave us a glimmer of hope at the beginning … really just amount to a hill of beans? And it seems as if it does,” Dolan said.

In addition, the “Group of Five” top USCCB bishops (Dolan, DiNardo, Wuerl, Lori, and Blaire), who are leading the effort to stop the Obama mandate, sent an internal letter to fellow bishops after Obama’s announcement, which was leaked and states, in part:

But it does not meet our standard of respecting the religious liberty and moral convictions of all stakeholders in the health coverage transaction. Therefore we remain committed to rigorous legislative guarantees of religious freedom.

We remain fully committed to the defense of our religious liberty and we strongly protest the violation of our freedom of religion that has not been addressed. We continue to work for the repeal of the mandate.

Philadelphia’s Archbishop Chaput wrote an utterly withering response to Obama’s compromise. His statement should be read in its entirety. Here are a few excerpts:

Many Catholics are confused and angry. They should be…

[I]t seems obvious that this administration is – to put it generously – tone deaf to people of faith….

But the HHS mandate, including its latest variant, is belligerent, unnecessary, and deeply offensive to the content of Catholic belief…. Moreover, we cannot afford to be fooled – yet again – by evasive and misleading allusions to the administration’s alleged “flexibility” on such issues. The HHS mandate needs to be rescinded….

In reality, no similarly aggressive attack on religious freedom in our country has occurred in recent memory….

Commentators are using words like “gaffe,” “ill conceived,” and “mistake” to describe the mandate. They’re wrong. It’s impossible to see this regulation as some happenstance policy. It has been too long in the making.

Despite all of its public apprehension about “culture warriors” on the political right in the past, the current administration has created an HHS mandate that is the embodiment of culture war….

But it is this administration – not Catholic ministries, or institutions, or bishops – that chose the timing and nature of the fight. The onus is entirely on the White House, which also has the power to remove the issue from public conflict. Catholics should not be misled into accepting feeble compromises on issues of principle. The HHS mandate is bad law; and not merely bad, but dangerous and insulting. It needs to be withdrawn – now.

    Wow. I love that guy.

A group of over 35 Catholic religious scholars led by Mary Ann Glendon and Robert George didn’t hold back expressing their rejection of Obama’s compromise either. In a statement entitled, “Unacceptable,” they called it “morally obtuse.” Read here the definition of “obtuse.”

Finally, in addition to several lawsuits that have been filed against the contraceptive mandate, attorneys general in 13 states fired a shot across the bow in a sharply worded letter on February 10 to Obama administration officials calling Obama’s compromise an “accounting gimmick” and expressing “strong opposition” to the “unconstitutional” mandate, which they promised to “vigorously oppose… in court.”

It appears there is no one in the top echelon of the Obama administration who understands what true faith in God means. Liberals may mock our faith, but Judeo-Christian dedication to abiding by our tenets is quite real. The other side doesn’t have a belief they are willing to die for (except perhaps wanton sex, pathetically).

    We do.

For Wassy she is a peon in this Administration. She thinks she is Obama #2 go too. She’s not. She has no eloquence when it comes to speaking for the Catholic Church. Her opinions are unnecessary and off putting.

    She is just Obama’s lackie.

Reid to Allow Vote on Rescinding Contraception Rule

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., relented on Tuesday and now says he’ll allow a Senate vote on an amendment that would reverse the White House’s controversial requirement that all insurers provide birth control free of charge to women. The proposal put forward last week by Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., would exempt employers from providing any care they find immoral.

It’s unlikely to pass the Senate, and Reid blocked the vote last week. But he gave in on Tuesday, providing a potential opportunity for his fellow Democrats Ben Nelson of Nebraska (a cosponsor of Blunt’s amendment), Robert Casey of Pennsylvania, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia to reaffirm their anti-abortion credentials and reassure constituents concerned about preserving religious scruples.

Blunt says his proposal is about the constitutional right to freedom of religion. President Obama says the White House took care of that with a rule putting the onus on insurers on Friday, although Catholic leaders and Republicans were not mollified.

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said Blunt’s approach would give businesses and corporations veto power over their employee’s health care decisions. “It’s clear that this is not about religious freedom, since the Blunt proposal would allow any business or corporation to deny any essential health care service they object to,” Richards said in a statement.

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said Blunt’s proposal could lead to effects far beyond contraception. “If I believe that prayer should cure all disease, that’s my belief, and I’m an employer, I can deny coverage for any life-saving intervention,” Boxer said at a news conference on Tuesday.

The newly formed Coalition to Protect Women’s Health Care, which includes Planned Parenthood as a member, said the Blunt proposal would let employers and insurance companies claim a moral or religious exemption for a range of conditions.

“That means employers and insurance companies can not only deny access to birth control, they can also deny access to any essential health care service, including maternity care, HIV/AIDS treatment, mammograms, cancer screenings — you name it,” the group said in a statement.

But the National Right to Life Committee said the Health and Human Services Department rule would give the federal government the power to force abortion care. “Exactly the same statutory authority could be used by the Secretary, next year or the year after that, to mandate that all health plans pay for elective abortion on demand,” the group’s legislative director, Douglas Johnson, wrote in a letter to senators.

Hey Debbie dear please feel free to donate your money to any baby killing organization you like, you can get right with God later, but please keep your thieving digits out of my pocket. By the way I hope tax payers are not paying for your hair styling, if so trust me we are getting ripped off. Lastly have you considered speaking lesson, it a little difficult to follow you guttered rambling.

  • Hell-o, if someone doesn’t like the place they work at, and their rules> there is the door, don’t let it hit you on the way out. If you get paid by someone, expect to follow what ever company policy they have, don’t like it, make your own company according to your rules, but don’t expect people to be happy with your rules either.

  • After religious entities are forced to provide free contraception per Government mandate, the next thing the Government will require is that these religious entities pay for the hotel room, as well.

The Dems believe in abortions because they no longer need babies born to Dems. They can create new votes by brainwashing your children in their schools.

DWS is certainly sick. She is very afraid of her two jobs, as she should be. I am 83 years old married 62 years, to the same man, and we bought our own birth control items, we have four wonderful children and eight grandchildren. Government NEVER paid for our birth control items nor should they do it now. Debbie must go, elect Karen Harrington for Congress.

Whoever is paying for Debbie’s contraceptives is doing an important service for all the rest of us, in order that her insanity does not continue to propagate. Sometimes, birth control is really useful and necessary. Let’s hear three cheers for all those drunken guys! Now, if we could just get them to chip in on getting her hair fixed…………..
