Russia Pushes Restart Button… Test Fires Two New Nuke Missiles

In March 2009 Hillary Clinton announced that the Obama Adminstration was going to push the restart button with the Russians. Unfortunately, the administration bungled their delivery and spelled out “overcharge” rather than “restart” on their button.

Today Russia pushed their own “restart button” and successfully test fired two new nuclear missiles.
Reuters reported:
Russia successfully tested on Friday its two new Bulava intercontinental missiles, which experienced several failures in the past.
The Defence Ministry said the 12-meter-long Bulava, or Mace, which Moscow aims to make the cornerstone of its nuclear arsenal, was fired from a submarine in the Arctic White Sea and hit the target, a designated polygon, on Kamchatka peninsula in Russia’s far east.
“The launch was carried out from (the submarine in) submerged position in the White Sea,” ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov was quoted by state-run RIA news agency as saying. “Its warheads reached the polygon (target) on time.”
The missiles carry dummies rather than nuclear warheads as Russia is a signatory of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) which bans all nuclear explosions.

The U.N. General Assembly granted a request from North Korea and held a moment of silence on Thursday for Kim Jong-il, the country’s former leader who died on Saturday, though Western envoys said they would boycott it.
Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, president of the 193-nation General Assembly, saying he was following existing practice, led the moment of silence before an assembly meeting at 3 p.m. EST.
He offered condolences to the people of North Korea.

just this past summer, fired out over the pacific from Vandenburg AFB.

Are you aware what would have happened had we not dropped The Bombs on Japan? There would have been millions more Japanese citizens – men, women, and children – killed, maimed, or wounded. It would have also almost certainly condemned hundreds of thousands, at least, of American soldiers to the same fate as they tried to end the war by “conventional” means. The war would have dragged on for months, if not years. There would have been no way around the Japanese people suffering in the most hellish ways for all that time. Interceptors in Poland would have no effect on these missles, since if they were to
be lanched at us, they would come from a submarin in the arctic, or atlantic.
The Russians knew that our piddly missile shield in Poland or Czech Republic would
be completely ineffective against their massive nuclear missle force. They just didn’t want
the U.S. miliraty right on their doorstep, any more than the U.S. would want a Russian
military presence in Canada or Mexico.
