Iran Releases Footage of US Drone (Video)

Iran released footage of the US drone they downed this past weekend.
Iran Press News reported:
Iran has released video footage of the most advanced US reconnaissance drone which was downed by the Iranian Army in the eastern part of the Islamic Republic earlier this week.
On Sunday December 4, the Iranian Army’s electronic warfare unit downed with minimum damage the US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft which was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 140 miles (225km) from the Afghan border.
The aircraft had crossed into Iran’s airspace over the border with neighboring Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Iran has announced that it intends to carry out reverse engineering on the captured RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft, which is also known as the Beast of Kandahar, and is similar in design to a US Air Force B-2 stealth bomber.

I’m presuming a large self-destruct system would make it more dangerous to the ground crew, heavier, and more likely to be destroyed in a mission. I’m not worried about the Iranians reverse-engineering the Beast, they can’t even keep F-14s flying. I’m more worried that they will sell it to the Chinese, and we will see its offspring in American skys in our lifetimes.
A self-destruct system, if it exists, will probably be very limited, something that would scrap the internal memory and storage devices but leave the airframe intact, just in case it got triggered in flight by accident. A smart contractor would make the Beast able to fly back to base after the “destruct” in case of accidental activation, and sell a spares kit that would plug in to replace all the fried parts.

But how do you down an aircraft of that size and it retains 99% of it’s integrity.

It’s yellow. It doesn’t look like a Sentinel (do a Google search, multiple shapes on this critter are just plain wrong). It’s smaller than a Sentinel. What they show on screen doesn’t even look like it would fly. It has no damage to it.

To obtain this they must have been able to override the remote control relays. This means they used electronic warfare to control this beast. If they did it could mean the required data was leaked to them or that our enemies are so advanced they can compromise our codes and transmission. If either are true we are in deep trouble.
The question I have is why was no airstrke luanched to destroy this aircraft? The military must have known its location.

Given that the RQ-107 is a Lockheed Martin product, I’m not entirely convinced that the engineers that designed the thing were dumb enough to set up a weak communication and control protocol that could easily be intercepted. Seems to me too that a drone would, by default, have an autonomous go-home mode in the event of communication failure or jamming.
Those guys produced things like the SR-71 and the F-22 and they flubbed a drone program?

Michele Bachmann’s campaign tells The Brody File that she will NOT attend the Newsmax debate moderated by Donald Trump on December 27th. Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman have also declined. That leaves Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum as the only ones who have said they will attend. A Lincoln/Douglas debate anyone?
Bachmann is mightily busy in Iowa where she must pull off a top three finish to remain viable. The Brody File has said that Bachmann’s organizational strength among pastors and homeschoolers give her the real shot at doing very well in Iowa.
In addition, some new polling by Public Policy Polling shows her picking up steam. Herman Cain’s exit from the race has helped her so anyone counting her out would be making a big mistake. Plus, don’t forget more than 60 percent of Iowa voters haven’t decided who they’re voting for yet.
With voters feeling lukewarm toward Romney and with Newt Gingrich’s tendency to shoot himself in the foot, Bachmann merrily travels around the country positioning herself as the real conservative in the race. Both Romney and Gingrich have issues in that regard. Bachmann does not. Watch out for her come January.

C’mon people it’s a fake. Why did the Iranians paint over our “no see um gray” radar reflective coating? see pak stealth chopper. The RQ 170 has angles this is rounded. No landing gear shown. If it was jammed do you think they landed it themselves? This is actually old Tech, stealth not a game changer it’s electronic warfare now. My thoughts are one it’s a flying mock-up to probe Iranian defenses, chi coms are there looking to test focused beam emp weapons that would fry all,or magnetic jamming.
