Rick Perry didn’t stutter this time on O’Reilly tonight,

“I think Barack Obama cares for his country but I think his policies are socialist… I think he truly misunderstands the values this country was based upon and that is free enterprise and having the ability to risk your capital and having a chance to have a return on your investment. That’s what he doesn’t understand… I think Barack Obama is a socialist.”

And he didn’t flinch or stutter when he said it.

President George W. Bush after the capture of Saddam Hussein:

“The success of yesterday’s mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq. The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the Dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate them.”

President Barack H. Obama after the killing of Osama Bin Laden:

“And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as I continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by my intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan . And finally, last week, I determined that I had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad , Pakistan.”

  25. Yes, one has to feel free to take a risk on “investing” one’s “capital.” But most of us don’t have capital to invest. We are worried about our jobs, housing, the rising price of food…and the impossibility of sending our children thru college without some form of aid. Which is to say, not that we are “socialists”… but that we belong to the 99%.

  26. Sure Obama loves America he is just ashamed of it. Like a parents of a drug addict who still love there offspring but are ashamed of the choices they made. America made thousands of choices to make it what it is and Obama is ashamed of most of them. It is his goal to mold it nearer to what he and his friends vision of America should be with what the government does for me over what the government can’t do to me and prevent me from doing, which it was designed to be.

  27. So many misinformed people at this site. Pamela Geller is a smear merchant. She put up a picture of Shami w/ Perry but failed to mention Shami ran for Texas Governor and thats why the picture was taken. Lied and said they were friends.

  30. No. What would be best for the country is Perry/Gingrich. Then Perry turned out to be such a stinking debater and we are all drooling over watching Gingrich debate Obama.

Gingrich would make a heck of a VP with his legislative experience. He might be able to figure a way to get something done and Perry would be saying to send them home. I would rather have Perry’s experience in the big chair with the button. Newt is smart, smart, smart and by george, he knows it. Slightly spooky and I do not think he would listen to anyone.

  31. No, Obama doesn’t love his country–if it even is his. And, yes, he is a socialist. Perry’s the only one with the stones to say it out loud; everybody else speaks about it in euphemisms.

Too bad Perry’s trailing in the polls. I’ll bet he’d make a good president.

In more ways than one, I have witnessed firsthand the extraordinary vision of His Highness, the Aga Khan. First, and most prominently, I have seen His vision of peace and unity reflected in the charitable lives of His followers in Texas, who contribute greatly to the fabric of our society, who have made many sacrifices for the sake of a brighter future for all of our children.

It is with great excitement that we welcome the first Ismaili Center in America. The new Ismaili Center will contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of the City of Houston and the State of Texas. We all believe and hope that it will be a demonstration of the Muslim values and ethics of which you have spoken so frequently. If it is even just a pale image of the center I visited last year in Dubai, then I am certain it will be an architectural and spiritual marvel.]

  33. Perry can find a better V.P.. Another Washington outsider, a Governor. Liked Newt but he is the poster boy for what is wrong with Washington. Making millions from his position and power. Lobbyist. Newt was also for amnesty for illegals. Perry has always been against amnesty. Perry much stronger on immigration than Newt.

  35. Gonna have to get a freight train to haul his baggage. But he can sure debate and has ideas , be they good or bad, running out his ears.

  36. Perry has the guts to say what we are all thinking. Obama is a socialist and his policies are killing our country. Perry has laid out 3 great plans to get this country back on its feet. His economic plan which is endorsed by Steve Forbes. His reform Washington plan which speaks to big government. His energy plan which will put americans back to work and decrease our reliance on foreign energy. Perry is a 3 term governor in a thriving state. He is definitely doing something right. To bg big mouth I have discussed these issue repeatedly you just don’t like the answer b/c you are WRONG!

  37. OWL- Gonna need something massive to haul it all because we don’t even know all of it yet. I think Allen West would be a great V.P. for Perry. And there are some really good Governors that some have never heard of similar to Palin. NM Governor would be good. Sure win for GOP. I understand the debate and ideas, but there are many that have the same. Actually, the media has exaggerated Perry’s debate performances. He did forget something but if you take that out he had an outstanding debate. And he won the debate last Saturday. Conservative media not standing up for Perry. Watch his interviews.

If Robert Spencer has any credibility, here is his opinion, with links for more background/information:

Rick Perry is woefully unfit to be president of the United States because he is a tool of Grover Norquist, the man who may be more responsible than anyone else for enabling Muslim Brotherhood access to the highest levels of power in the U.S.

By Texas standards they are in the upper middle class range with most of their assets tied up in Hill country real estate which has been on a roller coaster of valuation like a lot of real estate in sections of Texas.

Gov. Perry’s stocks etc. have been in a blind trust for years that he has no supervisory contact with & he took a bath when the stock market tanked just like a lot of other people who saw their stocks tank.

Gov. Perry is also under Texas Law prevented from profiting from his books…Those profits go to charity.

The same cannot be said of Romney,Cain,Gingrich or Bachmann who’s book comes out this month.

Herman Cain has been using campaign funds to pay his company for his speaking fees & his books.

I am sick sick of seeing them speak, insult, our country. The man has NO FEELING for America he is a FAKE! He was programmed to hate America by his MOTHER!!! He echos everything she represented–live or deceased. Socialist???Are you kiddin me?He is a communist—a true communist. He has done everything to make America come under totalitarian rule–that is communism with the BIG Government as his minions–they are all commies, Valerie Jarrett (daughter like daddy) Axelrod…study them.I have. He insults Poland, Israel, he insults Americans, our military, our Christian religion, our budget (spends spends) as he gets filthy rich. OMG do you know how much money he stashes away? All of them Holder, DOE, DOJ they ARE ALL IN on it—-its sickening what they are doing–EPA is the HATCHET for him…and NO ONE is doing crap!We do not have SMART Repubs who are tigers and fighters we need those who go after them like a bullet! The LEFT has PICKED
Romney just like they PICKED MCCAIN (plezzz)! They do not want someone they can’t control or caves—Newt tells media shove it—Perry can’t debate but he has no fear-so either one. The communists are there and they have a lot of money $86M to the leader–communists want POWER to own and control all of us–that’s scarey to know they are here and have lots of American made money and they want more!

  82. #74 — Your response to my first post didn’t address Perry’s close association with Grover Norquist – no Republican candidate is closer to this man than Perry. (They’ve even vacationed together – a controversial trip you might remember). Instead you chose to link an article regarding the Aga Khan connection. Here’s more on Norquist:

A report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released this week shows that Iran has made considerable progress in its nuclear weapons program. This alarming move toward a deliverable nuclear capability also demonstrates the dangerous consequences of the efforts-from 2007 through at least 2010-by a group of Washington anti-Israel activists and lobbyists who went to bat for the Islamic Republic through an organization known as the Campaign for a New American Policy for Iran (CNAPI).

This report is about the ways that Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) supported CNAPI activities, through support for a second organization, the American Conservative Defense Alliance (ACDA), a founder and leader of the CNAPI campaign. The policies for which CNAPI lobbied became the do-nothing Iranian policies of the Obama campaign in 2008 and of the Obama administration to the present day: no support for the Iranian Green movement and Iranian democracy activists, few or no economic sanctions, and no military option. And advocacy for unconditional negotiations, as Obama had advocated during the 2008 campaign.

The report first describes all the connections among Norquist’s ATR, and the lobbying groups ACDA and CNAPI — and then why those connections created dangerous consequences for national security.

Until the US Constitution is amended in this county people are not persecuted and driven out because of their religion.

I know this upsets you but it is our law. Muslims who break it are prosecuted under our law.

That is not naive…that is the current state of things in this nation.

Perhaps you would prefer a more statist solution…If so that doesn’t jive with the tenets of conservatism.

We should always as a nation be vigilant as to the enemies of our way of life and our laws but we should also not jump the shark and assume a mob mentality in demonizing any group who are otherwise obeying our laws.

This is the responsibility of a free society….A Free Republic is always messy but worth fighting for.

  84. #87 — You’ve conveniently ignored the other lust – for “power” – or political ambition. Norquist is/was necessary in that pursuit. And I’ve noticed the money bags Perry (and wife) have been drawn to – it’s needed for successful campaigns…

  85. #52 that was a good list….I totally agree with you on his qualifications. He is the most qualified conservative GOP candidate to beat SCOAMF Obama!

  86. @#90

Norquist has pull in the GOP because of his Tax Reform ATR. This isn’t exactly NEWS.

CAIR is headquartered in Dallas Texas…This isn’t exactly NEWS either…1/2 of Detroit is Muslim.

Gov. Perry even spoke at a Bilderberger meeting years ago and has shrugged it off saying “They must not have liked what I said cause I haven’t been invited back ”

Gov. Perry isn’t responsible for what Norquist does or says anymore than he is what Hagee says and he’s been to a prayer meeting with him in the past.

    It’s called POLITICS…Sheeesh!

Gov. Perry has a consistent and lengthy record of supporting Israel that goes back to his days as Agr. Commissioner of Texas. He support for Israel is backed up with action both administratively and legislatively. It is not just ideological.

Gingrich will fold in the General Election like McCain. Thank you for giving Zero another four years to finish his great work of destroying America.

  88. #91 — As I guess you’ve now (my #90) realized, I was thinking about our national security. But let’s address your remarks:

This father has yet to be found and prosecuted:

    HONOR KILLING IN TEXAS

The killings of Amina and Sarah Said raises uncomfortable questions for the Islamic community in the United States, questions about the culture and mindset that people like Yaser Said bring to this country. Now that honor killing has come to Texas, Muslim spokesmen in the U.S. have an all the more urgent responsibility to end their denial and confront these cultural attitudes. If they don’t, and instead continue to glibly insist that religion has nothing to do with what happened to these poor girls, the murders of the Said sisters will only be the beginning of a new American phenomenon.——————————————————————————–

But, hey, this guy was found guilty! (Glad the jury didn’t believe him when he said he was the victim of her abuse!) Wonder how long he’ll serve?

The founder of a Muslim-oriented New York television station was convicted Monday of beheading his wife in 2009 in the studio the couple had opened to counter negative stereotypes of Muslims after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

  89. @#92

“You’ve conveniently ignored the other lust – for “power” – or political ambition…”

Obviously you’re not from Texas…Gov. Perry is famous for his disdain for Washington DC.

Perry is running for POTUS for a few reasons.

    1. He’s Pissed Off over the Border Games & Federal Over-reach that is targeting primarily Red States….EPA…NRLB…DEa…INS…DOJ…FDA…Federal Agencies that are being used as political weapons to break the economy.

    2. The Federal Budget that has endangered not only our economy but also our foreign policy.

    3. Gov. Perry has a strong conservative record & has said he would support any of the other candidates over Obama even those who aren’t as conservative as he is because this country is in danger of becoming caught up in the same socialist debacle as Europe if the GOP doesn’t score big in the WH, both houses of congress and in legislatures across the country.

    4. As the former head of the RGA Gov. Perry knows full well the effect Obamanomics & Obama’s politics have had on other states. Texas is absorbing the economic refugees from these failed blue states teetering on the brink of bankruptcy.

    5. Gov. Perry is as concerned with shaping the GOP platform as he is with winning the race & so is Gingrich….This is why they are the two most simpatico in terms of policy as anyother candidates in the race although Perry’s policy platform is straight out of his book FedUp! and he’s been more consistently conservative than Gingrich through the years. Perry has been a states rights advocate for decades….dating back to at least his early fights with the EPA when he was Agr.Comm of Texas.

How does any of that relate to Gov. Perry?

I said we are a nation of laws…You want a PURGE…Start an amendment drive to change the constitution to say we protect freedom of religion except for Muslims.

Might as well throw in all the other religions you don’t like as well.

I’m all for vigilance over sharia creep & curbing immigration from countries hostile to the west as a matter of common sense. If folks break the law they should be prosecuted under our laws.

But I’m not buying into the panic driven paranoia either…

  93. @#98

You really are unhinged….and well STUPID!

Karl Rove backed Kaye Bailey Hutchinson in the gubernatorial race AGAINST Gov. Perry.

WHEN SHE LOST TO PERRY…ROVE BACKED THE GOP CANDIDATE AGAINST THE DEMOCRAT WHITE.

Again…It’s called Politics. GOP v DNC

All of the GOP candidates (Except maybe Ron Paul) will likely rally behind the GOP nominee to some extent in order to win this election against the DNC & Obama….

If any of them go into an unprofessional snit (Ron Paul) they will pay the political price and lose credibility.

  94. @#100 mcc

“#94 — With “CAIR headquartered in Dallas”, I can imagine the muslim vote would be desired by Perry.”

Sure you are laughable…That’s WHY Perry held a christian prayer meeting (30,000 attended) called The Response before he entered the race so he could win over all those muslims and atheist voters protesting outside the arena. Great strategy by Perry to win over CAIR or the ACLU…lol

  95. workingclass artist: Should I thank you for your kind remarks about me:

I know this upsets you but it is our law.

    You want a PURGE…

Might as well throw in all the other religions you don’t like as well.

Sorry. I have a hard time taking you seriously when the above is added to your bringing up unrelated issues to my remarks.

  96. #103 mcc

I have a hard time even understanding the reasoning of your remarks as they relate to Gov. Perry….maybe because they have little reason to them.

It is not the governor’s job to comment on every crime especially during an investigation.

It is not the governor’s job to oust muslims if they are not breaking any law. It is not the governor’s job to demagogue & fear monger to placate to fringes.

It is the governor’s job to assist with resources any investigation into potential criminal activity which Perry has done with regards to CAIR (FBI & IRS)…The Border…Human Trafficking & Drug Cartels (Texas Rangers, DPS & Border Patrol)

  97. For those who consider immigration their primary issue in this election,

Governor Perry has committed millions of the state’s budget to border enforcement, meaning he has done more to combat illegal immigration in this country than every other candidate combined.

Also, as to the issue of what to do with those already here, Perry supports a work visa program, which may not sound great, but Cain and Newt support a path to citizenship. Romney supports amnesty. Realize also that deporting them means you are going to have Elian Gonzalez type news coverage every night.

In other words, if immigration is your issue, Perry is head and shoulders above other candidates.

  98. #102 — my point has been, he covered his bases in his pursuit of high office – and in some cases, was indiscriminate:

Christian vote and the *really big bucks*: “Dr. Jim” was thrilled with his prayer meeting, I’ll bet

Republican (lower tax conservatism) vote: Grover Norquist

Muslim community vote: Aga Khan and teaching Islam in Texas schools

  99. @#103

“Sorry. I have a hard time taking you seriously when the above is added to your bringing up unrelated issues to my remarks.”

You reveal yourself to be another unhinged fringe type….WHEN you say a veteran of the US Airforce, committed and public Pro-Israeli Christian & Governor of Texas that has FT. Hood would be a secret islamist supporter….

Logic just isn’t your strong suit is it?

  100. #107 — Last time: Perry is not “secret” anything, imo. He’s NAIVE. And if he’s not overly ambitious, little wifey IS.

    To our detriment.

No thanks. Texas can keep their twosome.

(I’ve been up all night – early AM my time – off to bed now before a soccer game and a small child entertain me.)

  101. @#105 Boone

Agreed. Perry’s guest worker program (While not ideal is practical)

    1. It documents them and takes them off the welfare as foreign nationals. It also sets up a working E-Verify system which we don’t have right no. The current one only works less then 51% of the time.

    2. It allows current employers/industries time to adapt and eases any regional economic impact. which is being seen right now in in states that passed harsh immigration enforcement.

    3. It allows those illegals who own property to disperse the property if they want to self deport.
This avoids a federal payout like the one resulting in the Japanese American California case from WWII.

    4. It begins the process of cleaning up the immigration courts & fraud inherent in the phony ID industry. Takes on ave. 12 years to obtain legal citizenship if you are from Mexico which is why many OTM’s and Mexicans have fake ID’s…Even with these the Federal Govt. collects SS to the tune of billions & so do states that have state income taxes.

    5. This is a federal problem and need to be addressed at the federal level with the priority being Border Security first. Perry says he can secure the border in 12 months.

    6. Perry is not pro-amnesty…He says they should com out of the shadows & be documented. Those that qualify can stand in line like everybody else.

Illegal Immigration from Mexico has gone to almost zero in the last two years…and due to the economy has begun to reverse itself to the point of the Mexican Govt. whining about it.

A survey conducted by the Polling Company for Independent Women’s Voice on Nov. 11-13 of Iowa GOP voters intending to participate in the caucus showed just four-in-10 (42%) of Iowa Republicans will “definitely” vote for their current candidate. I agree.

‘America has often been blessed, in times of crisis, with principled, moral leaders directing this nation against history’s tyrants and in pursuit of freedom and the rights of man.

Now, once again facing a crisis, America searches for great leadership. Awash in a morass of moral compromise, poll-taking, and hesitation to offend world opinion, Americans desperately seize on any hint of strength, of moral certainty, of a refusal to swim with others in the swamp of compromise, empty rhetoric, and threats that now passes for “leadership” in Washington, D.C.

Where can Americans turn, to witness the spectacle of great leadership?

Integrity is the virtue of remaining loyal to one’s convictions and values. A man who is able to hold to a principled course of action, to pursue his values relentlessly, without compromise, and to do so under duress and the scorn of others, deserves our deepest respect.’

America Needs a Leader Like George Washington

Hopefully a rep. majority in the senate and in congress can stop him from totally turning us into a third world. S & P is ready for another downgrade for America. He truly needs to be voted out but don’t be too sure.

  119. bg #127

Seems neither Cain nor Perry is too bright.

‘Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that the 30% or so of Republicans who say they plan to vote for Cain have much of a handle on these issues, either. (Well, hopefully they’d at least be able to understand the simple question, “Should abortion be legal?”) So it will take more than repeated displays of ignorance and dimwittedness to unseat Cain from his current frontrunner status, especially considering some of the alternatives.

Rick Perry isn’t much brighter, and even the anti-intellectual Republican mainstream is noticing. He’s so bad at speaking in complete sentences that his campaign has considered pulling him out of future debates. The Texas governor does much better, his advisors have realized, when he’s freed from the onerous task of thinking on his feet. Much better to have him read a speech or a teleprompter than “attack” Mitt Romney for being “on the side of…against…the Second Amendment before he was for the Second Amendment…was it was…before he was before these social programs, uh, from the standpoint of he was for standing up for Roe v. Wade before he was against Roe, uh, Roe v. Wade….”

At least Cain and Perry’s supporters haven’t been taken in by Romney. The sad thing is that I was actually cheering Perry on while he was delivering this painful oration because, despite his contorted language, he was right—Romney is the most odious man in the campaign. Transparently amoral, Romney makes the twice-divorced Gingrich look like a paragon of integrity. His pliability on political issues is only slightly more revolting than his condescending tone and slimy smile. If this is the price of a sliver of intelligence, I’ll take Cain or Perry without a second of hesitation.’

    The Future President of “Ameri-meri-meri-meri-ca-ca”?

But either is a bunch better than Hussein, or Romney.

  120. Newt is over in the Family Values debate hitting it out of the park there as well.

He said the single most important value missing in the country today is that “the Creator” has endowed us with certain inalienable rights.

He goes on to say secularization of our society since 1963 is the root of all evil.

    Guy’s a genius.

Romney better get out there and crack the lid off a discussion of his Mormon faith cause if he’s the nominee, it could get real tough expaining everything O and the media will throw at him about the book of Mormon.

  123. Reading this thread, with all the wrong focus, I’m reminded of Jim Marshall. Just as Marshall ran the wrong way, we’re failing to see the correct political goal line.

And calling me darylinsky [I've asked you politely to stop it], bj, (uh oh, damned typos) earned yourself another dedication of your favorite song. Enjoy

and you know darn well all of those media
labeled ‘gaffes’ have been proved not to be..

    “Libya”

[Rush played the audio clips of Herman Cain yesterday with the Journal
Sentinel, pointing out that Herman Cain did get the Libya answer right
when he finally got to his answer. And when it comes to federal employees
not being able to collectively bargain, Rush said the Sentinel is wrong, that
some federal employees can bargain for their wages and benefits.
    ]

    “right of return”

[[In this light, should the “right of return” “be negotiated,” as I said,
“if that is a decision that Israel wants to make”? Certainly, and to
reiterate, it’s Israel’s call. Israel has a long record of being more
gracious to its enemies than its enemies are to it, and this would
be yet another example of that. But is the “right of return” a moral
imperative? Is it something Israel must grant? Is it something the
    United States ought to encourage?]

    bonus “gaffe”

[“But not collective hijacking. What I mean by that, if they have gotten so
much for so many years and it’s going to bankrupt the state, I don’t think
that’s good. It appears that in some instances, they really don’t care.”

orbidden, freedom is lost.”\ ~ Ronald Reagan

you have proof HC harassed anyone??

please, lets have it, Allred is on bended knee..

    and one you didn’t mention..

[Cain’s fundamental correctness is of course unimportant to the press, whose mission appears to be to make Cain look like a buffoon at any cost — even the truth. This is of course consistent with a media pattern of discrediting the intelligence of Republican presidential candidates and presidents going back at least 60 years. The New York Times in the 1950s was telling readers Dwight Eisenhower, who “only” orchestrated D-Day and commanded the Allies to victory in World War II, wasn’t really that bright either.]

  137. Sugarcoating, bg. Plain and simple spun suger-coating.
Sad part is you know it, know we know it, but do it anyway. Really pathetic.
