Education: As if Occupy Wall Street and its parasitic protesters weren’t a bad enough example for children, now teacher unions and their enablers are getting into the act with disturbing ideas about “teaching” its tenets.
Little noticed in the protest army sitting in against Wall Street, the educational establishment is more involved than you might think.
From teachers disrupting school board meetings to classroom use of lesson plans about the “Occupy” protests to “teach-ins” that aim to educate the public about protest demands, we are witnessing a vast spread of economic illiteracy for political purposes.
It started early this month when, according to Reason.tv, Patricia McAllister, a substitute teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District who was speaking from the Occupy Los Angeles podium, declared:
“I think that the Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve, which is not run by the federal government — they need to be run out of this country.” This is a public school teacher in action, teaching the vaunted “tolerance” of the left.
After intense publicity, the district fired McAllister, and Occupy Los Angeles gathered at LAUSD headquarters on Oct. 19 to protest her ouster, even as she refused to retract her words. “It is not racist, it’s the truth,” McAllister told a local TV station. “Anyone who speaks against the Jews are called racists nowadays.”
Yet the American Federation of Teachers has “fully endorsed” the Occupy protest and is calling for the rehiring of 1,000 laid-off teachers, presumably to include McAllister.
“We need to listen to what the individuals camped out in Liberty Plaza for Occupy Wall Street — and those marching in the streets from Boston to Denver to Los Angeles — have to say,” declared AFT President Randi Weingarten in a statement issued after McAllister made her speech.

There’s more. Fox News has reported that the fraud-plagued community-organizing group Acorn has partially recrudesced as something called New York Communities for Change, a group aligned with teachers.
The Acorn group collected funds for what it claimed was an American Federation of Teachers fundraiser to replace dangerous lightbulbs in schools. The money, according to Fox, went to Occupy protests instead.
AFT denied any knowledge of the scam, but its endorsement stands. The union is known for shoveling out members’ dues for political activity — $34 million in 2010 alone.
Now the educrats’ “Occupy” influence is spreading into school board meetings in New York. Last week, several hundred Occupy protestors, many identified by NY1 television as teachers, disrupted a school board meeting at Seward Park High School on curriculum standards in the name of their own “Occupy” agenda against capitalism.

It is amazing that there are youth who can be so brainwashed and a day late and a dollar short.
Yes, there is insider trader and there are stocks that or brought and sold. But they have it wrong if this will ever stop. Bankers will loan again but they must be darn sure they never again loans their customers can’t pay back and sub prime loans should be abolished.
It is a real shame that both parties, those who are made illegal trades during the 2008 meltdown and that those who have made millions haven’t be locked up. Sub prime loans and Frannie and Freddie should be dissolved completely. Period.
And during the Clinton years everyone but those who knew something fishy was going on when homebuyers were never thinking that maybe just maybe they couldn’t afford that expensive home. And those who were down trotted could even be accepted for a home loan.

Our nation needs these youth to figure this out, and some day the most certainly will. But now, at this time it is definitely a political plot because this should have taken place in 08 and I really feel that no one has brought this up enough.

The depth and breadth of the hatred expressed in some of the comments here, against our own citizens, is disturbing. Broad-based civil actions like this don’t arise for no reason. And to hold up the failings of some thoughtless participants as representative of the broader group does nothing to help understand the motivation.
In Los Angeles, about 40% of the protesters are over 35 years old. They are clean, well-dressed and only show up on weekends because they work. Whole families show up with children in strollers. This is not on the news or web sites because it is not scurrilous.
Many of these people hold signs regarding the multi-front wars, corruption and monetary policy.
Maybe they don’t have the answers but they feel that something has gone terribly wrong. They want to make sure that someone at least hears their questions.
I am a concerned dad of two sons and this is just my opinion.

There’s a lot about these protests and their planning, as well as what has happened at the “occupy” camps, and what they plan, that you obviously don’t know. That’s ok, but if you are going to take responsibility for your family, it’s time for you start digging.
The TEA Parties actually are a real, broad-based, civil action that spans most of the broad middle of the US political spectrum. Because it spans the political spectrum, it is limited to presenting specific solutions for the repair of the damage done by economic policies of the current administration. The TEA Parties know how to put on a demonstration, keep it civil, leave it clean, make their point, and then go home and write their congressmen.
The TEA Parties hold civil, clean, orderly demonstrations with specific petitions for the redress of real, identified grievances. Can you honestly say the same of “Occupy ___” ?
