During his first year in office, Barack Obama announced that 9-11 would officially be declared a day of community service.
It was actually his radical green czar’s idea.

First Lady Michelle Obama wore a $207.90 T-shirt by Tom Binns and John Eshaya at a National Day of Service and Remembrance event at the Vinson Hall Retirement Community in McLean, Va. on September 11, 2010.
There’s a reason why Barack Obama and democrats fears 9-11 – It’s the same reason that they fear Independence Day.
It’s scientific.
Exposure to the American flag only boosts Republicans.

A recent study found that even a brief exposure to an American flag shifts voters to Republican beliefs, attitudes and voting behavior.
Via US News and World Report:
Just a brief exposure to an image of the American flag shifts voters, even Democrats, to Republican beliefs, attitudes and voting behavior even though most don’t believe it will impact their politics, according to a new two-year study just published in the scholarly Psychological Science.
What’s more, according to three authors from the University Chicago, Cornell University and Hebrew University, the impact had staying power.
“A single exposure to an American flag resulted in a significant increase in participants’ Republican voting intentions, voting behavior, political beliefs, and implicit and explicit attitudes, with some effects lasting 8 months,” the study found. “These results constitute the first evidence that nonconscious priming effects from exposure to a national flag can bias the citizenry toward one political party and can have considerable durability.”
Theirs is the first study to look at the political impact on Americans who have seen an American flag, and it seems to back up another recent Harvard University professor’s study that found that kids who attended a July 4th parade ended up leaning Republican when they grew up.
It’s also sure to prompt GOP presidential candidates to add more U.S. flags at their events and speeches.
No wonder they want to make 9-11 a day of community service.

No need to wave extra flags at GOP events. No liberals will see them. With this study being publicized, they’re going to be more disposed to hate it and to suspect proselytizing every time a flag shows up in a non-traditional place. Better to resist the temptation to use our flag as a weapon, and instead just make sure to teach your children and grandchildren why it’s worthy of respect.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch which hasn’t mentioned 9-11 since 2002, suddenly is all over it this year. In the past they have not wanted to offend the poor Muslims by mentioning it. What is the big deal with 10 years? The big deal is that the media is deparate to get the story off this failing president and his falling poll numbers off the front pages and are praying this anniversary gives him a boost by showing him with the flag. I guarantee you won’t hear a single mention of 9-11 next year because they don’t want all the patriots on the right out waving their darn flags again and give them an issue to rally around. Someone in the media might actually start asking why no one has been to trial yet for 9-11. The media is always so transparent.

As an ordinary american who loves my country, when I heard about this community day crap, especially when I saw that new commercial, which made NO mention of what exactly happened on 9/11, I felt very angry at what they are trying to do.
This is not some damn community orginizing day. Innocent Americans, people were murdered, heroes like fighterfighters, policmen, gave their lives to protect others. America was attacked! This was an an attack on America!!!!!
If they want to say something like, we were attacked by evil, but we will survive, we will prevail and get stronger, and in memory of those who were killed by evil, we will help do something to strenthen America and other fellow Americans, then this is a message I would appauld and embrace.
But seems to be they want to erase 9/11, they want to replace it with some stupid crap like community day, with no reference to 9/11 in terms of what actually happened!
As for the flag, there was a time in this country, both dems and repubs loved the flag, understood what foundation built America, etc, people like Truman, JFK, that is no longer the case. That’s the reason many dems, liberals, don’t see the flag and see pride and love for the country, dems don’t see much pride in america, the flag.
The question they need to ask is not why should we not wave, display the flag because it will make them led to vote conservative, it should be why don’t people see the flag and want to vote dem — a party that had men like patriots like JFK and Truman.
I know as a former dem, that party is now the land of the marxist lunatics, PC crap.

KOW commented:
I am just throwing this out there, but do you think the study is flawed in that it brings up national pride, which is a reflection of who is in office? During the study, America had gone through 8 years of Bush, so if you have pride in America, you would have pride in the President, and maybe those things that reflect on him, which may include his party.
I guess what I am thinking is, maybe it has some to do with what the President is projecting. Bush projected what would we think is normal pride in America, Obama reflects a different type of pride. So, if the survey was taking today, would those taking the survey perceive national pride more along Obama’s?
KLD commented:
When I look at our flag, my heart always feels a swell of pride. And it should be flown at all times with pride for what it represents.
But I agree with Nelle. deliberately overdone it becomes commonplace. It’s like a song that’s in your face & played too much. After awhile you turn off the radio. It starts setting your teeth on edge. Kind of hearing a key phrase or word thrown out in a speech too much.
I wonder if that’s why Obama wouldn’t wear the flag on his lapel?
BS-meter commented:

Obama HAS no national pride. The only thing he can project is DISDAIN for this country.
In the days and months following 9-11, flags were seen everywhere. THAT was a reflection of national pride and it had little to do with GWB per se.
As for the 4th of July parade meme, it is once again a chicken-or-egg thing. Does attending a parade make you patriotic, or do only patriots attend patriotic parades. I think the latter is the case. There is a limit to what a “sunshine patriot” will sacrifice, but real Americans will always pay the price.

#34,
It is not about 9/11, the survey was about a flag in the upper right hand corner of the survey, and if it influenced the survey. According to the results, it did. Is it because those taking the survey saw the flag, then thought of the US, our President at the time, what he projected, how the country felt at that time, so they did the survey along those lines.
Now, Obama wants to change how we think of America, so when you see a flag on a survey, would you think differently.
It is the same concept though as 9/11. Right now when we think of 9/11, it brings up Never Again, we know who did it, we wont let them do it again. Which is likely good for the Republican Party, if Obama can change it to a Community Service day, more of let forgive day, then 9/11, maybe even when people see a flag, they will think more along the lines, lets forgive.
Ginger commented:
Excuse my dumbness but what does NAP mean? I hope it means what I think it means.

This isn’t the only survey done in recent months vis-a-vis the image of the flag and how it relates to patriotism.
My flag flies 24/7/365. It is an all-weather flag that gets replaced regularly, it is lighted, atop a 30-foot pole, and it has been displayed so for the last 37 years. And I didn’t need a survey to cause me to do so.
You will notice that Obama wears a lapel pin (or doesn’t, depending on the occasion and to whom he appears) at his whimsy. When he does, he defames the very symbol he displays.
Never once did I ever doubt GWB’s reason for wearing the flag. With Obama, it is a grandstanding insult to all patriots.
He’s a disgusting piece of skin!

This is a strange study. Who wouldn’t gravitate to GOD, FREEDOM, COUNTRY AND FAMILY, when we see the flag. But one party or the other? I must be really getting old but when Betsy Ross made our flag so many years ago, heroes fought for freedom in too many wars, flags flying on America’s porches, Flags draped over coffins of our most precious treasures, our flag our symbol of our nation, free and one nation under GOD.
for me this isn’t fear but anyone who fears the flag, I really cannot comprehend this study. For me, I love this nation and a study about the flag and what party will gravitate to it is just plain silly.
Sandy commented:
Maybe the Dem America haters are right. Perhaps the American people are desperate to see our nation’s flag proudly displayed for all to see.
