Today, in his weekly address Barack Obama marked 9-11 as a day of community service and soup kitchens.

On Aug. 4, 2009, the White House offered a glimpse into its plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage. Commie-TRUTHER Van Jones appeared in a 33-minute video posted on the official blog of the White House and spoke about the left’s plans to remake the tragedy into a day of community service.

The president signed into law a measure in April that designated Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service … The plan is to turn a “day of fear” that helps Republicans into a day of activism … that helps the left …
On Aug. 4, the White House offered a glimpse into its plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage. [The now disgraced Van] Jones appeared in a largely ignored 33-minute video posted on the official blog of the White House to discuss the administration’s plan to flush 9/11 down the memory hole just as it has tried to do by rechristening the Global War on Terror the “Overseas Contingency Operations.”
“The first milestone for Green the Block will be on our National Day of Service, September 11, 2009, where we will organize Green the Block service events around the country in coordination with the President’s initiative, United We Serve,” said Rev. Yes. The fact that he’s a TRUTHER makes this even more outrageous.

9/11 is a day of remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives to save others, those whose lives were taken from them, and all those left behind to mourn their losses. People do not need to be told to serve in a soup kitchen because muslims flew planes into the towers, Pentagon, and a field killling thousands. These people are nuts. Oh, let’s make it into a community service day – bloody nuts.

I stopped watching tv today at about noon. I didn’t hear much by then about this rediculous “day of service.” I didn’t see Obama doing a stint at a food bank, I didn’t see Michelle dishing out meals to some homeless folks. I did see him lay a wreath at the Pentagon. I saw her give an actually very moving speech for the Flight 93 heroes with Laura Bush. The emphasis, as far as I saw this year, was where it needed to be…remembering and commemorating our fallen brothers and sisters.
Did this meme die a merciful death? I’m into service as much as the next person, but turning 9/11 into a “day of service” is just bunk.

Help older people with transport to polling stations.Walk them in, pretend they are aunts, mothers, cousins etc so they are not pushed around and prevented from voting. Talk to them long ahead of time and counsel them to vote against the Democraps.(remember the reverse schlep?)

That counts as a fit remembrance, or service, for me. My community service was to ask a reporter, who had written a nice puff piece for a local CAIR spokesman, to please ask that spokesman whether he’d read the Hamas Covenant and whether he thought that document is unIslamic.
It’s not much, but it is a start.

KABUL – Iranian companies are paying militants in Afghanistan to kill American soldiers, according to a report London’s Sunday Times. The report carried by Fox News says that at least five Iranian companies in Afghanistan’s capital are using their offices as channels to pay Taliban militants in provinces near Kabul.
The offices were set up in the past six months to specifically to provide cash for a network of district Taliban treasurers to pay battlefield expenses and bonuses for inflicting as much damage as possible on American forces, Fox reported.
In Iran, these companies compete for contracts to supply materials and logistics to Afghans involved in reconstruction. The money often comes in the form of aid from foreign donors. But that’s just the front, according to Afghan intelligence sources who talked to The Times.
Western officials believe the network may have been set up by the Al-Quds force, an elite branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Iran is paying bonuses of $1,000 for killing an American soldier and $6,000 for destroying a U.S. military vehicle.
