It Begins – Lib Governor Calls For Suspending 2012 Elections

It begins…

Democrat Governor Bev Perdue called for suspending national elections today in a speech to the Cary Rotary Club.
The News Observer reported:

Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that,” Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

The comment — which came during a discussion of the economy — perked more than a few ears. It’s unclear whether Perdue, a Democrat, is serious — but her tone was level and she asked others to support her on the idea. (Read her full remarks below.)

Later Tuesday afternoon, Perdue’s office clarified the remarks: “Come on,” said spokeswoman Chris Mackey in a statement. “Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what’s best for the people they serve.”

The Republicans sure are taking it seriously as they look to score political points. Here’s a statement from GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood:

“Now is a time when politicians need to be held accountable more than ever. To suspend an election would be removing the surest mechanism that people have to hold politicians accountable: the right to vote. Does the Governor not believe that people of North Carolina have the ability to think for themselves about whether or not the actions of elected officials are working?”

Let’s suspend her, like on the end of a — (oops, can’t say that).

  • Texas_Treeroach

North Carolina (Democratic) Governor Beverly Perdue is what happens when you slug back hard liquor in the voting booth.

Blogger “Gargonzola” at the DailyCaller had a comment about Perdue’s comments today that deserves an embellishment ala Elmer Fudd:

OK, you wascles!!! I pwahpose a wit of Habeus Doofus on future ewections!

Even Lincoln himself would have kicked this old bag down the Capitol steps — and then kicked her carcass for good measure!

Wise up, North Carolina! Stop drinking, start voting! Your Governor is making you look like you’re not paying attention!

  • Mad Hatter

The good people of North Carolina needs to overwhelmingly vote her out next year. She’s up for reelection.,_2012

This shows that the Democrats think they can ignore the U.S. Constitution.

  • retire05

Purdue has a state elections board. So why doesn’t she just get them to suspend elections in her state.

Then the North Carolinians can vote right after they tar and feather her and ride her out of their state on a rail.

    The first version,
““I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that,” Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”
The version used by the Left to spin it as a joke.
“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. Perdue said. “You want people who don’t worry about the next election.”

  • daryl

You can’t expect much else from the states that elected BrackO, from their guvs down to the voters who only voted once for him.

  • Tru

I live in NC. Bev is a disgrace. The state house went to the GOP in 2010 for the first time in over 100 years. She keeps vetoing everything they pass and then they over ride her vetos. She’s out in 2012 unless she’s recalled or impeached first.

  • Ma

Dear clueless skirt in NC we wouldn’t hold it against you when you are voted out or tarred and feathered out of office. Moron.

  • I live and vote in North Carolina. Bev. Perdue is in hot water over the use of airplanes in her campaign and failing to properly report and document the use. THIS IS THE SAME TYPE OF CONDUCT THAT GOT FORMER DEM. GOV. MIKE EASLEY A FELONY CONVICTION!

Long story short, she can’t run for gov from prison.

  • Larkin

I am just left speechless by the unmitigated gall of this dem pol.

This will not go well with Americans.

Suspending elections is NO LAUGHING MATTER.

  • Redwine

“Suspending elections”? Is she calling for martial law?

  • Conservative Ken

Her comment came after consulting the Magic 8 Ball.

  • Stephana

That remark may not be as harmless as one may think. The dems/socialist/commies know they are in trouble. It will be interesting to see if that same sort of statement shows up again in the next few days.
Obami is perfectly well aware that his chances of getting re-elected are getting more unrealistic by the day. How does a lefty dem still manage to stay in power? Don’t have ANY elections.
Calling out the “flash mobs”, the unionbots, ACORN, and any other nutcase you can find is not helping, so what is left. Create a major crisis – as is the plan of those mentioned in the first sentence – and then declare marial law. It’s going to get VERY nasty people!!

  • Hobbitually conservative

It’s because of IDIOTS like HER that we ought to have elections one year early!

  • Earthmover

I am seeing a few 2012 bumper stickers in favor of Obama. I cant imagine what
    they are happy about.

  • Dave-O

If my job performance was as dismal as hers (or her fellow Dems) – I’d petition to postpone the inevitable too. What a moron!!!

  • Druid

What? The NC Governor supports slavery to the State?

Who could have ever imagined that…

  • Jackson

The State would fair better if the good people of North Carolina would shutdown the stills, stop running from the Revenuers, give up moonshine a week before elections, and vote this idiot Gov out.

My apologies in advance pop in Swansboro and aunt Mabelle and uncle Roy in Elm City.

Another trial balloon, WTF almost always telegraphs his moves with BS like this, if the Media lets him or his underlings get away with it, and the public is not outraged, then on to the next step.

  • Multitude

Let’s see. Obama’s been utterly incapable of suspending:

    – Daily golf outings
    – Date night jet-setting with Michelle (but please… only with His and Her 747s)
    – $40K bling bling for the Arugula Lady
    – Weeknight parties with Hollywood and sports celebs
    – Vacations every month
    – Prevacations to prepare for the vacations
    – Post-vacations to recover from the total exhaustion of vacations

All that was too critical to suspend for minor details like economic collapse, the absence of jobs, record spending, etc., but we’re asked to trash the Constitution and give up our voting rights so Obama and his party can find a little more focus time?

    Even Stalin wasn’t this brazen.

  • does anybody think if the prevaling politicals winds were indicating a republican debacle the dear governor would suggest suspending the election? you know just to let the people that caused the economic mess the opportunity to solve it. after all they have been doing such a good job so far.

    Perdue is a chicken.

  • Redwine

Exactly, bg (#23). Thanks for the reminder and the link. I thought she was channeling Comrade Barry. Libs always hint at what they want to do.

  • Bert

    Off with her head!

  • Sandy

Gov. Perdue this is a bunch of chicken chit, now keep your mouth still until your brain has a chance to catch up.

  • SpideyTerry

Wow. Rarely (at least before Obama came along) did politicians give their opponents such useful ad material.

  • DeeDee

Well, we should give her a break she actually thinks that stopping elections in Congress when it is a Republican Congress and somehow she feels that they will “turn” their mind is interesting. I guess that she is really not interested in what the “people”want or care.

  • Yrral Dleifsarb

Clearly, it would be constitutional to suspend elections. After all, people use, or might use, gasoline to get to the polling places, and extra gasoline would be expended hauling mailed ballots. And gasoline is part of interstate commerce. This interpretation stretches the commerce clause no more than dozens of SCOTUS decisions have already permitted.

Suspend elections or get rid of Harry Reid. I’m thinking get rid of Reid.

  • Craig

Who voted for Governor Perdue? Californians, Texans, Floridians? No, it was folks from North Carolina. This is what they wanted, this is whate they got!

Some people should stay home on election day. When you don’t know WTF your doing, or WTF is going on, you really should stay home to give your state or your country a chance for enlightened citizens to make the right choice for evedrybody.

PERDUE: In French, spelled exactly like that, “PERDUE” means LOST and it refers to a woman. For a men it would be PERDU.
Example: Cette femme est complètement perdue.

The Lib-Cong would do well to remember that there is a rifle behind every blade of grass! There are also many of us with ………skills.

  • palmyra

I live in NC. Conservatives can’t wait to go to the polls on November 6, 2012. Beverly Perdue will be voted out (along with Mr. Obama). She is a dolt, got elected riding the Obama wave that swept through the state (and also got us that wonderful senator, Kay Hagan — another dolt). Yes, the morning to November 7, 2012 is going to be so sweet; new president, new governor, oh — and new 7th District Congressman, too (Mike McIntyre doesn’t work for me): Ilario Pantano has a nice ring about it. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!

Not surprised…was waiting for this…thought it would happen in 2010…Democrats are crazy-scary…buy ammo and canned goods…watch out for your neighbor and say a prayer…it’s coming! Boy, do I love a fight, especially one like this!

  • Bigkahuna

We have people who are not more worried about relection than governing… They are called the Tea Party candidates and elected officials..

Get it right once …you have no need to be there for term after term after term.

  • Molon Labe

Liberals hate the people. It is the basis of their believe system. Every system they errect attacks personnal liberties and freedom. That is why they hate the Constitution which restrains our politicians.

She swore to uphold the constitution of her state. I have no doubt that the people of North Carolina know what to do with this creature.

  • Her problem is she can see the writing on the wall and it doesn’t look good for the liberals. If they suspended the elections that would give them another two years to get this nation deeper in debt and closer to a melt down. They don’t deserve to finish this term much less get another.

  • Kenneth

If I remember right didn’t Hitler suspend the German parliament (temporarily)before taking over.
    Not something to joke about

  • lol

the commie libtard thinks we have a monarchy. we all knew this was coming.

  • Girl Thursday

Gov. Perdue is big on suspending things … for instance, suspending 2nd amendment rights during a state of emergency. She’s toast. North Carolinians are finally getting wise to the “Southern democrat” myth.

  • Logos

I’ve been predicting for 2 1/2 years that there would be no elections in 2012. As Hoft says: It begins.

  • JPL17

Now at last we know exactly where the Dems are actually coming from. It’s “One man. One vote. One time.”

  • FurryGuy

With government there is nothing more permanent than a temporary “anything”. Suspend elections for any reason and many of those in power will do whatever it takes to never let them happen again.

Sure, if Biden and Obama both resign right now (as they should since they have totally failed), no problem.

  • OwlDroppings

“Off with their heads!,” shrills Bev Perdue.

“THINK of all the time and money we could save, not bothering with those messy election things,” says Bev. “Such a bore! Really! On my face and nails and those wild, new bras, I could spend the time better. And, they never settle A-thing!! Ever! I’m sick and tired of having to listen to those Tea-People, talk about this and talk about that. My God!!
”No metro-hostess worth the family silver has ever had a single ONE of those restaurateur-ing, shopowning, farmer, professional practice, certificated nobodies at HER dinner party…they are WORKING people! Plant owners! What, POSSIBLY, can they tell me and you of the Governing Class.”

We don’t claim her here in N.C…..

  • Oh, but wait! Her lackeys say she was only joshing. Right. And Napoleon was only kidding about empire building.

We know very well that the lefties would love nothing more than to impose autocratic rule under the guise of “getting things done.”

The German people, in desperation during the dark economic days of the post-Versailles 1920s and early 1930s, fell victim to precisely this sort of demagoguery.

History is a valuable thing to a free people. It’s no wonder the lefties don’t want it taught in school any longer.

  • To our friends in North Carolina: you have a more immediate, constitutional process for handling such blatant offense against the State.

If you have enough of a majority in the state legislature to override Governor Perdue’s vetoes, then do something useful with that majority: initiate impeachment proceedings. Calling for suspension of constitutionally mandated elections is prima facie evidence of offense against the State, and failure to uphold the oath of office, to “support the Constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of North Carolina…

  • ScottJ

Chip has it right. We can’t impeach the one we want to because of affirmative action, but we can harass his minions with lots and lots of legal trouble and impeachment proceedings. (Remember the legal harassment in Alaska against Governor Palin?) Go for it NC.

  • bg

people give “affirmative action” way too much credit, oh wait,

why haven’t the leftists touted credit regarding that assertion??

  • @ScottJ:

Chip has it right. We can’t impeach the one we want to because of affirmative action…

Oppose Obama on policy grounds, but as far as I can tell, he’s done nothing demonstrably impeachable (Solyndra comes awfully close).

The one who does need to be impeached – immediately – is Eric Holder. He should have been impeached for dropping the New Black Panthers election case. He should be impeached and imprisoned for Fast and Furious.

“I’ve been predicting for 2 1/2 years that there would be no elections in

Since Nov., 2008, my friends have thought me crazy saying, “We’ve seen our last free election in this country”. Y’know what? The Canada Free Press (again, from C A N A D A!!!), actually wondered “[Is this how Obama will be re-elected???. . . by suspending elections]”???

Could be. After all, it’s the ONLY way he can get re-elected. However, suspending elections will be the 2nd step to the US takeover. . . the first will be MARTIAL LAW.

And yes, I will keep my powder dry… I will not live as Hussein Obama’s slave.
