Good Grief. EPA Wants to Kill Off 183,000 Private Sector Jobs a Year With New Regs

Good grief.
The far left has completely lost it.
The Obama team’s latest EPA plan will kill off 183,000 private sector jobs a year.

New EPA regulations will kill at least 183,000 private sector jobs per year.
Penn Energy reported:

As the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to vote on the TRAIN Act, the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, released a comprehensive analysis conducted by National Economic Research Associates (NERA) showing that several of EPA’s new and proposed regulations would lead to 183,000 lost jobs per year and significant increases in the price of electricity and natural gas.

“America’s coal-fueled electric industry has invested nearly $100 billion, so far, to achieve impressive reductions in air pollution. Now is the wrong time for EPA to blindly push ahead without even pausing long enough to understand how all of these rules could hurt American jobs and consumers,” said Steve Miller, president and CEO of ACCCE.

The analysis, done on behalf of ACCCE by NERA, relies on state-of-the-art modeling tools, as well as government data for almost all of its assumptions. NERA’s analysis projects that EPA’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule and proposed Maximum Achievable Control Technology, coal combustion residuals, and cooling water intake requirements for power plants would, over the 2012-2020 period:

** Cost the power industry $21 billion per year;
** Cause an average loss of 183,000 jobs per year;
** Increase electricity costs by double digits in many regions of the U.S.;
** Cost consumers over $50 billion more for natural gas; and
** Reduce the disposable income of the average American family by $270 a year.

At the same time, the EPA says it will need another 230,000 new bureaucrats to implement their disastrous job killing policies.
The Daily Caller reported:

The Environmental Protection Agency has said new greenhouse gas regulations, as proposed, may be “absurd” in application and “impossible to administer” by its self-imposed 2016 deadline. But the agency is still asking for taxpayers to shoulder the burden of up to 230,000 new bureaucrats — at a cost of $21 billion — to attempt to implement the rules.

The EPA aims to regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the Clean Air Act, even though the law doesn’t give the EPA explicit power to do so. The agency’s authority to move forward is being challenged in court by petitioners who argue that such a decision should be left for Congress to make.

    It is time to defund these idiots. Then lets write legsislation that regulates regulators and follows these idiots in their jobs and regulates them from ever holding another job.

    It should force them to pay the highest tax rate possible, they should be told they have to document every gallon of gas, btu of heat, bit of natural gas, volt of electricity and every bit of dust they create. They should be required to do it daily and report on every bit of trash they create and where it ends up and who it influences.

    They should be told they have to do it for free and hire people with their own money to help them.

    Screw them

    odumbo doing exactly what he set out to do…the destruction of America as we know it

    Unfortunately, Section 403 could knock the legs out from under these lawsuits by creating a clear legislative history that takes as a given the existence of EPA authority to regulate greenhouse gases. If the bill passes, EPA will argue it is conclusive proof that their authority exists, and will likely find a sympathetic ear from a judiciary that has consistently favored expansive interpretations of the Clean Air Act.

    Republican proponents of the bill make a variety of arguments, contending essentially that advancing natural-gas vehicles is such a national imperative that free-market principles should be set aside and government should step in. But the biggest impact of the bill may be something entirely different and wholly unintended: a green light for the EPA’s whole agenda of skyrocketing energy prices via greenhouse-gas regulation. That’s more than enough reason to kill this bill.

    Just a post above to show what authority the EPA has and will use for any means to Protect one thing or another their agenda is working hard on to eliminate any progress or growth.

    This is a dangerous ride to get on. When progress is on hold for The EPA, for heaven sake, wth, is going on.

    Any good progressive would acknowledge that we have a model problem. We cannot and will not be able to continue to “straddle the fence” with a massive Federal government parasitically sucking off an ever weakening and diminishing private sector. We have clearly reached the brightline to which any further growth in government is not sustainable (actually, we reached it more than three decades ago during Carter’s radical expansions in the bureaucratic Leviathan which followed the extreme growth of the welfare state).

    What this means is that there won’t be any further “sustaining game”: the Left must either prepare the grounds for a full government seizure of the entire economy, quickly within the next 2-4 years, or it must collapse and the nation revert back to a government less than 6% of GDP should it repay its debt obligations.

    There’s no more middle ground. Republicans need to understand this faster than the Progressives as they will need representatives who are able to move to nearly a libertarian model. John McCains, Lindsay Grahams, Romneys, Perrys and other moderates won’t be able to resist the strong special interest demands for more sustaining game, and the alternative of a government seizure and take-over of the economy will be inevitable.

    Close up the EPA and the NLRB. They have outlived their usefulness. There is no way the republicans in Congress would give a penny or should give a penny to hire another EPA bureaucrat. In fact the funding should be cut to 2000 levels. While this may not be possible until after the 2012 elections, assuming repubs get control of the Senate, it must be on the front burner. Also the head of the EPA and her legal staff should have their budgets zeroed out just like the hundreds of thousands of jobs they seek to murder.

    The ironic thing is that Obama is /was for Obamacare, Higher gas prices, Jobs for the always present middle class he claims to love, home loans for everyone, more regulation, Union bailouts etc etc and those are the exact things that have taken the country down, keep it down and prevent it from making a comeback…

    Kinda interesting huh…coincidence? plan ? Yet it will ultimately be his downfall and the reason he is shown to be the worst president in the history of thios country and the worst leader in history of the world.’

    When a conservative is in the whitehouse and conservatives take over both houses and fix things( and not become big spending idiot liberals again) the liberal welfare socialist model will be shown to be the complete failure it is and kill it for the next 20 years until people forget and try electing socialists again

    He is a disaster of epic proportion.

    Easy to see what the plan was with Obama as POTUS. Obama gets to be a celebrity, get rich and continue doing the only thing he knows how to do– golf and campaign. Michelle OBama, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, Lisa Jackson, Kath Sebellius etal are busy destroying the Constitution and any individual freedoms left in America. All lovingly directed by Buffett Imelt and Soros.

    This is what happens when you give the car keys to an idiot, irresponsible teenage kid. Chaos. As long as the media act like cheerleaders and play defense for him. This will continue to get worse. Our nation has been hijacked by the idiot class.

    230,000 malignant bureaucrats minus 183,000 productive jobs equals +47,000.

    Duh, winning!

    “Good Grief. EPA Wants to Kill Off 183,000 Private Sector Jobs a Year With New Regs”

    How many jobs have already been lost in the Energy Industries? Whole Regions of the country have been affected.

    Yeah…Main reason I support Rick Perry is I know stopping the EPA is a TOP priority for him. The EPA has stopped drilling and frakking, affected Coal and Agriculture. The EPA tried to shut down the Texas Grid.

    It is a job killer.

    Romney is pro-AGW and Romneycare/Obamacare (another disaster)

    Perry & Texans are Pissed…That’s why he’s running.

    EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has landed a spot on Time magazine’s 2011 list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

    Energy Secretary Steven Chu wrote a brief essay about Jackson for the magazine.

    “As the U.S. grapples with serious energy issues, we need serious leaders like Lisa. She understands not only the risks we face but also the opportunities to create a new generation of jobs and to grow the economy while protecting public health and the environment,” he writes.

    Jackson is hardly without her detractors, however. Capitol Hill Republicans say the Environmental Protection Agency is charging ahead with a raft of overly aggressive Clean Air Act rules that the lawmakers allege will hurt economic growth.

    Jackson proclaimed over Twitter Tuesday afternoon that she is “Honored to be featured with so many incredible thinkers, artists & changemakers in Time’s 100 most influential people.”

    “at the same time, the EPA says it will need another 230,000 new bureaucrats” and there is the true agenda. Shovel ready jobs was nothing more than code for pencil pushing bureaucrats, bigger government and a smaller private work force. The only hole the Socialist whore Obama wants to dig, is the one to bury America.

  • bigkahuna

    Is not Govt’s job to create jobs, create energy, choose what jobs or what energy are created.
    If anything its job is to use common sense to provide some oversight and limited regulation of things without killing those same jobs and energy.

    I would not mind if 75%-85% of the EPA was eliminated and put it in the hands of the states

  • USMCdaughter1

    We are being herded like sheep to the slaughter using regulations to do so.

    full benefits, funny how obama can say he has created jobs, yes, jobs we are paying and paying and paying for. government jobs.
