VFW Outraged After Obama Administration Snubs Veterans Group For First Time in Its History

Veterans of Foreign Wars officials are outraged after the Obama Administration snubbed the group this week for the first time in the history of the organization. The White House will not send a top-tier official to speak at the convention this week.
FOX News reported:
The Veterans of Foreign Wars convention this week will not feature a top-tier official from the Obama administration, a breach in tradition that the group’s commander described as an “insult of the highest magnitude.”
However, an administration official claimed Monday that the White House made “every effort” to provide a speaker for the event, offering up a range of top officials.
“In all instances, the VFW declined those offers,” the official said.
The veterans group is accustomed to playing host to the nation’s most powerful people at its national conference. Obama addressed the VFW in 2009, followed by Vice President Biden in 2010.
But the 2-million strong VFW accused the administration of snubbing its members by not providing a “first-tier speaker” for the first time in VFW history.
“The VFW has had a long-standing tradition of inviting the sitting president to address our convention,” Richard Eubank, national commander of the organization, said in a statement, adding that the White House typically chooses a “high-level administration official” to speak if the president cannot attend.
“It is an insult of the highest magnitude that for the first time in the history of the VFW, the White House has apparently decided that this great and iconic organization of combat veterans and all of its members are not worthy of its notice by not at least offering a first-tier speaker from the administration.”
…Deputy White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday that W. Scott Gould, deputy secretary of Veterans Affairs, will be addressing the convention.

Congressman Ron Paul is also a veteran. He served in the military as a flight surgeon in Air Force. He sponsored most of the bills in favor of veterans. Most of VFW endorses Ron Paul.

They were spared some direct insult if he had shown up. He has a long history of using his speeches to captive audiences to issue smears and slurs as he did at a state of the union speech to the supreme court justices. Adler so despicable? I think the better question is, why would the VFW endorse/award him- he was recently linked to putting a fake TEA Party operative into the race between he and Jon Runyan. Again, Adler has NO prior military experience, is Democrat, and is accused of doing anything to maintain his position. Do we see a pattern emerging?
The National VFW says that the PAC has little to do with the ‘regular’ VFW, yet it’s members appear in the national magazine, they post the selections the PAC makes, and allow candidates to put in their print materials that they were ‘endorsed by the VFW’.
It’s very apparent that the VFW has no intention of ‘fixing’ this debacle anytime soon. We, as veterans, learned early that if your command has issues, you fix it right then, right there. You relieve people- you right your ship. To do otherwise, especially in times of conflict, imperils every member of the unit.
