Leadership. Obama Blames Congress For S&P Downgrade

It figures. It took Barack Obama 3 days to come out and blame Congress for the S&P US downgrade.

The AP reported:

President Barack Obama says the U.S. always is and always has been a triple-A country, despite its rating agency downgrade.

He said also the U.S. didn’t need a rating agency to tell it that it’s political system was having trouble functioning.

Speaking at the White House on the Standard & Poor’s downgrade, Obama renewed a plea to Congress to take action in September of help create jobs and cushion Americans from a still weak economy.

Obama said financial markets around the world “still believe our credit is triple-A. I and the world’s investor’s agree.”

Obama also used the opportunity to push for tax hikes.

Obama is busy blaming everyone else, while his fellow Democratic Partisans are beginning to blame him. It is a riot, as it is their disastrous Party dogma which is a train wreck for all.

We all see Democratic Partisans embracing more insane levels of denial once again. They are focusing on vilifying others for their plight, or just blaming the individual amongst themselves, while they ignore the source of the problem – the Democratic Party’s poisonous politics and policies.

Here we see the predictable Democratic Partisan denial fabricating the tired fantasy, which suggests the same offering provided by another package would have done better:
    “Hillary Told You So”

Reminds one of the Kennedy “con” challenging the flop named Carter. Utter nonsense.

It is absurd. The Democratic Party dogma created Mr. Obama and his offering. Mrs. Clinton is devoted to the same foolish political conviction. They once bragged about being fortunate, thrilled to see Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama’s campaign platforms were “identical”.

We all know, Mrs. Clinton would have been just as disastrous as a President as Mr. Obama. Put any Democratic Partisan player in the place of Obama, whether it be Kerry, Clinton, Edwards, Corzine, Blanco, Granholm, etc., and the end product would be basically the same nightmare.

It is not leadership style, messaging, ‘evil’ political opponents, it is the dysfunctional substance of the Democratic Party which will always result in failure in the end.

Mrs. Bennett and Company even bizarrely ignore the obvious – Mrs. Clinton’s terrible record of failure at this moment with the State Department. Ironically, Hillary Clinton is just another vivid symbol of folly in the Obama Administration today in the foreign policy arena. Her infamous label of the Syrian Despot as a “reformer” is a prime example. ‘Smart Power’ is an even bigger joke than ‘hope and change’. Besides, Hillary Clinton vividly supported and lobbied for every effort provided by the Obama Team, even hugging then Speaker Pelosi for passing the disastrous Obamacare.

Democrats lied about lobbyists, earmarks, transparency, Iraq, GITMO, Afghanistan, signing statements, votes to authorize the use of force, Libya, taxation, the Patriot Act, executive orders, etc. Do they actually believe someone who lied about ‘dodging sniper fire’ would have made a better President, who once failed to Nationalize Health Care behind closed doors?

I make this claim. Obama grew his political teeth in the slums of Chicago organizing the slum residents into community meetings. He was then the top dog, the most schooled, the most intelligent of the bunch. They listened to his every word and believed in him and looked up to him. He was on top.

Now he is in the company of equals for the first time in his life and it ain’t the slums of Chicago any longer and he is lost. He is not the top dog.

    re: Tea Party

i have to say that it sure seems like Senator Lindsey Graham
(@ 12:15) has come a long ways since his TP bashing days..

[Graham: Well you can’t be fourteen trillion dollars in debt unless both parties are working together to get you there. And the tea party is a result of what’s wrong in Washington. They didn’t create all this mess. It was an energy created by people seeing the country slipping away and wanting to do something about it. The tea party’s for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, so am I. I don’t have any faith that either party is going to change things until they are made to do so, we need a balanced budget amendment. The truth of the matter is if President Obama, if he was in the Southeastern Conference, he’d be fired as a coach. He would not have his contract renewed. Everything is worse. Unemployment is up by 18 percent. Gas prices are up by 93 percent. Everything, housing prices are down by 12 percent, he’s had a chance, we’re three years into this and he’s failing. It’s not the tea Party’s fault, what was hope and Change is despair and confusion. People are not creating jobs in this country because they think Howard Dean is going to raise their taxes. If you want to create job, don’t raise anybody’s taxes. Try to lower spending like the tea party and other people up here want. So the tea party is not the problem, Washington was broken before they got here. I hope they can help us fix it.]

not to steal from MO, but for the first time in a long time, i am proud

    Federal Budget 101

The U.S. Congress sets a federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars. Few people know how much money that is so we created a breakdown of federal spending in simple terms. Let’s put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:

    • U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
    • Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
    • New debt:$ 1,650,000,000,000
    * National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
    • Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of the budget)

It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to. Let’s remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family.

    • Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
    • Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
    • Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
    • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
    • Amount cut from the budget: $385

So in effect last month Congress, or in this example the Jones family, sat down at the kitchen table and agreed to cut $385 from its annual budget. What family would cut $385 of spending in order to solve $16,500 in deficit spending?

It is a start, although hardly a solution.

Now after years of this, the Jones family has $142,710 of debt on its credit card (which 1s the equivalent of the national debt).

You would think the Jones family would recognize and address this situation, but it does not. Neither does Congress.

The root of the debt problem is that the voters typically do not send people to Congress to save money. They are sent there to bring home the bacon to their own home state.

To effect budget change, we need to change the job description and give Congress new marching orders.

It is awfully hard (but not impossible) to reverse course and tell the government to stop borrowing money from our children and spending it now.

In effect, what we have is a reverse mortgage on the country. The problem is that the voters have become addicted to the money. Moreover, the American voters are still in the denial stage, and do not want to face the possibility of going into rehab.

If we can be of any assistance to you in Louisiana, Mississippi or Texas, please do not hesitate to call.

    With kind regards, I remain

    Ann Barnhardt on the speech:

Obama gave an astounding speech earlier today. The Dow was already down hard but tanked to 500 lower after Obama declared credit ratings meaningless. He actually said the following at 6:28:

“No matter what some agency may say, we’ve always been and always will be a triple-A country.”

Typical Marxist endgame propaganda. Namely that REALITY IS NOT REALITY. PERCEPTION IS REALITY. No matter what objective reality may show you, the only reality is what the state TELLS you it is. If we FEEL that we are still AAA, then we are still AAA and reality does not matter.

THAT is when the DOW started to really tank. This is just about the single most terrifying thing that the market could possibly hear.

Obama, Kerry, Reid, Pelosi, Schumer and on and on and on: They are liars, and they will say absolutely anything, no matter how patently dishonest, no matter how easily verifiable.

Kerry sounds about as unhinged as Algore. But the most pathetic display belongs to the arrogant subprime blowhard in the White House who seems to think he can finesse any problem by reading a litany of lies from his teleprompter.

Obama is a disgrace. He is the most unqualified, unpresidential president in our lifetime. He’s an arrogant liar, always taking credit for achievements that are not his and scapegoating others for problems that are largely his fault.

Not since Nixon perhaps have we had such a mean-spirited president. One probably has to go back to Nixon as well to find another president who has such a long list of enemies, although in Obama’s case, the enemies are largely entire classes of people. In that regard, one would be advised to look at the Soviet Union for examples.

Seriously, I can’t imagine anyone other than our uneducated and venal parasite class buying into this BS. (And they will vote for him almost unanimously in 2012, even the ones who are so infantilized that they can’t obtain an ID card. All they want is their Obama Money.)

S&P goes after the family jewels

The downgrades of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reflect their direct reliance on the U.S. government. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were placed into conservatorship in September 2008 and their ability to fund operations relies heavily on the U.S. government. In addition to the implicit support we factor into our ratings, the U.S. Treasury has demonstrated explicit support by providing these entities with capital quarterly, as necessary.

Obama knows exactly what he is doing and everything is going according to the plan. That’s why the Democrat leadership picked Obama for their candidate instead of Hillary. Remember what happened? Hillary was beating the crap out of Obama, then as it got to the primary vote was about to happen, Obama asked to talk to Hillary. They had their little meeting and when Hillary came out she looked rather down, and that’s when she went to the mic and told her supporters that she had lost, she gave up, she surrendered, she threw in the towel, she took off her gloves. How many more cliches do I need to come up with to show you that she made a deal with the Obama people. I knew she was going to loose when early on George Soros announced that he was going to pull his support from Hillary and give it to Obama. He had said back in 2004 that he owned the Democrat Party. And when I heard that I knew that he was going to take the Democrat party in the direction HE wanted it to go.

Obama used his bully pulpet to announce that it was everybody else’s fault than his that the government was given a downturn in their credit rating, and we are nearer to defaulting. He is not going to give in, NEVER because he is the community organizer, Chicago thug politician, Marxist operative who has a agenda to bring this country to an end for all of it’s sins against the world. Like his statement that it’s not okay that we can live like we do and no one else in other countries can. He is right on schedule to do what he plans on doing.

The Democrat Party is not the Democrat Party of JFK. It has been taken over by Communists and they are using it’s built up power base to do the things Democrats would never have approved of. Democrats have historically been for the “little man”. That means that Democrats have always tried to help people who were able to help themselves. To everyone else they wasted more money than was legal to do. That’s why the Roosevelt New Deal almost never got through the Supreme Court. He told the Court that if they didn’t pass the New Deal that he would empeach them all and put liberal judges in their place. He was really mad that they told him what he wanted to do was unconstitutional. He didn’t care. Like Democrats today, he was going to do whatever it took to get things done. That’s why Obama keeps talking about “moving forward”. That’s the direction they keep talking about that is their way of saying we want the country to move as far to the left as it can go. He doesn’t say straight ahead, he just says move forward. That could be any direction so long as you are looking ahead and not moving backwards.

  • myohmy

The fact of the matter is the owrl has lost confidence with the President of the United State. Time for recall.

  • The President of the United States got on TV today and he rambled, he stuttered, he was *lost in space*, he made NO sense in his speech and he offered no words of confidence, and he was READING from the teleprompter, and he was still less than confident in his speech.

Obama talked for several minutes and he blamed this money crisis on anything and everyone he could think of; the TEA Party, the GOP, Conservatives, the tsunami in Japan, the earthquakes in Japan, the recession that he came into in 2009 when he assumed office, read that as BLAME BUSH.

Obama blamed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in that I can agree with him, we need to be GONE in both places.

The only group that didn’t get blamed was Obama himself and his administration…imagine that!

Watched Obama while sitting in Midas waiting for my brakes to be fixed. No Midas touch with Obama. He was the usual comatose purple lipped morticion leaving the morgue after an all nighter….vacant any sence of proper emotion due times of grave events…made the massacre of our troops a closing footnote to his push for more welfare spending and tax hikes. I think he was on Demerol.

  • Nancy

Ever notice with this guy it’s always someone else’s fault and the solution is always higher taxes? Talk about a broken record.

  • SeniorD

It took three (3) days for the effete Puppet President, following the commands of his masters, to blame ANYONE ELSE.

At this point, I would even vote for Hillary to get this inept clown and his Trust Fund Socialist Terrorists.

  • RL

#72 & #73 – Gentlemen, please don’t give “them” any ideas about spinning this as the “new productivity”.

To be consistent, he should shift blame from Bush to the previous Congresses, since the office of President is obviously not responsible for any result.

As Gordone Bethune, former CEO of Continental Airlines who turned it around said in his book “From Worst to First”. . those that put you in a nose dive are not the ones who will get you out of it. . .

Our Country is in a nose dive and we need real leaders to pull us out!!

Meaning we need REAL CHANGE in Washington and in Congress. . .

We need to keep reminding ourselves of the disgusting group we have as representatives now. Passing laws for us that they have not even read, not studying the impact they will have, all the “pork” included, acting like 12 year old juveniles on youtube, giving themselves their own pay raises, and now threatening ALL of us because they would not bite the bullet-fearing not getting reelected- to get us out of this financial mess they want to pass on to our grandchildren. I believe they do not deserve any retirement funds.

    ***Congressional Reform Act of 2011***

    1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security..
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do..

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

What part of Cut, Cap, and Balance does Obama not understand? (Reid, McConnell and Boehner too)

    Is obama THAT stupid?. . . . a by-product of affirmative inaction. . .

Enact these three things immediately and regain/restore our AAA rating:
    1) CCB,
    2) Repeal of Obamacare, along with Dodd Frank Financial reform Act and Fannie Mae plus
    3) Drill, Baby, Drill– NOW,

Or have Obama resign . . . along with Harry Reid and Pelosi (Schumer and Barney Frank too) would have the same effect of restoring our AAA rating!

Party in Chicago, party in WDC, Camp David and Golf, Return to WDC, 3 days and 40 minutes late for 15 minute speech saying not his fault or responsibility, fundraising dinner and party tonight. Insufficient honor and mention of courageous SEALs killed in Afghanistan.

Bus Tour still on. Priorities, priorities. Empty suit. Sucks the energy out of the country.

Obama blaming Congress is classic Dictator-in-waiting talk. He hopes to disempower Congress, or declare Congress kaput because it is SO “dysfunctional.” Then HE comes to the rescue.

He hopes to disempower Congress, or declare Congress kaput because it is SO “dysfunctional.”

If hes does that, the pitchforks will be coming for him.

  • Molon Labe

Vote for Obama in 2012. Make sure Barney Frank has a cuddle buddy in the White House.

    What a Dyck

  • Contessa61

You certainly didn’t expect him to take any responsibility, did you?

  • Oldman

People who voted Boehner into power have got
What their want so now why do u blame Obame?

  • Mary

Ah yes, the Great Healer was going to bring everyone together, no more politics as usual. Do you remember that they even tried to get the Inauguration moved up 4-6 weeks so he could fix the country? Office of President Elect. The balls. Yes, we have transparency…it’s crystal clear that BHO hates the USA.

  • burt

You don’t really expect Obama and his Democratic friends to raise taxes on George Soros do you?
    Warren Buffet?
    Oprah Winfrey?

  • Oldman

To me , no matter how u do u will
    Still have enemy.
Even Reagan who a lot of America
People admire today still have enemies!!
Don’t judge a man by his coat but
rather judge Obama at the end of
    His term.
I know for sure some people just
hate him b’cos of his coat , but let’s
wait n see at the end of his job where
    Wonders will surprise the enemies!!
