Boy did we have this one pegged wrong…
Governor Jan Brewer vetoed the Arizona “birther” bill tonight. She also vetoed a bill that would allow guns on campus(?)
Tucson Sentinel reported:
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill Monday that would have required presidential candidates to provide their birth certificates to appear on the ballot, and another that would have allowed guns to be carried on school grounds.
Brewer also vetoed a bill that would have directed the governor to set up an alliance with other states to regulate healthcare, in a challenge to the federal government.
HB 2177, the “birther” bill, “creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona,” Brewer said.
Evidently, asking candidates to follow the Constitution is too much of a hassle for Governor Brewer.
UPDATE: Governor Brewer just admitted on Greta’s show that the Arizona House has enough votes to override the veto. Brewer said the bills were “sloppily written.”
UPDATE: Here’s the video.
Governor Brewer said the “birther” bill was a distraction. She said she is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment but that the gun bill was sloppily written so she vetoed it too.

Just read that the bill presented to her allowed 1 person (sec. of state?) to make the final decision of a person getting on the ballot. She vetoed it because that person could easily be corrupted and/or politically motivated. Try to imagine a state official with a very liberal mindset making decisions about conservatives getting on the ballot. She also didn’t want the baptismal and circumcision records as part of the bill. I’m sure we will find out more by tomorrow.

While this goes back and forth – if the bill was badly written, then it’ll be obvious under closer scrutiny – the best way to get Obama out of office is to defeat him AND his Democratic Party enablers decisively at the ballot box.
It means fight like hell to put up the strongest, toughest GOP candidate and ignore the incoming attacks meant to divide the focus and will of the PEOPLE, and be alert to counter attempts of fraud.
That is the BEST way: WIN – the way that will be accepted by ALL Americans, even if some don’t like it. To try to yank a sitting officer-holder out of office before he or she has completed the lawful term creates long-term corrosive trouble if the overwhelming majority are not convinced of the need.
THe Democrats attacked Bush, trying to create enough momentum and critical mass to disrupt his lawful term of office – even though they failed, it had a very very very bad corrosive effect on our entire electoral system of governance -planting the insidious idea that if citizens didn’t like the elected offical, they could try to tear him or her out. Not, learning to live, and abide by the will of the majority.

From the linked article:
Under state law, the governor can call up a state guard if the National Guard is pressed into service. But SB 1495 would expand those powers to “any other reason the governor considers to be necessary.”
The bill reads:
If the national guard of Arizona or a major portion thereof is called into active federal service, or if the national guard or a major portion thereof is alerted for federal service OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON THE GOVERNOR CONSIDERS TO BE NECESSARY, the governor may establish an armed force for the safety and protection of the lives and property of the citizens of the state which shall be known as the Arizona state guard.
The Arizona state guard would be paid for from funds appropriated for the National Guard.

Now isn’t she, the one gatekeeper, she says she has a problem with when it comes to deciding a person’s eligibility to run for Office. What a hypocrite! Just another narcissist.
“Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer today undid the work of Republican majorities in both houses of her state legislature by issuing a veto of House Bill 2177, the plan to exercise the state’s right to run elections and require presidential candidates to prove their constitutional eligibility.
“I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions,” she said. “In addition, I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president … to submit their ‘early baptismal or circumcision certificates’ among other records. … This is a bridge too far.”" by Brewer

The RINO wing of the Republican party is not serious about defeating Barack Obama in 2012. If they were, Karl Rove and others would support requiring candidates for President in 2012 to show proof–birth certificates–proving they are natural born US citizens which the US Constitution requires.
Instead, Rove has shown his contempt for those who want the Constitution followed and who question Barack Obama’s eligibility. And he is now alone. Who else quietly asked Brewer to veto the bill?
The RINOs appear ready to give Obama a pass on his birth certificate, and concede his re-election in 2012. HOw else can you explain Rove’s wild attack on Donald Trump and birth certificate bills being holed up in committees in Republican controlled legislatures around the country?
Maybe Karl Rove is past 2012. He may be looking for 2016. The rumor is that wing of the Republican party is planning Jeb Bush’s Presidential bid that year, and if Republicans win the White House in 2012, that would keep Jeb from running in 2016.
Trouble is, the country can’t afford four more years of Obama. And I doubt it would elect Jeb or any other Bush anytime soon.

I have changed my mind about why Brewer vetoed this bill, I have been searching online. Looks like that bill was changed a lot when it came out of committee, Brewer’s publically stated reason might be one reason, that the SOS has much too much power to kick someone off the ballot.
Its fine now, but what happens when a dem, corrupt SOS soros bough comes in. That can be changed in the bill and repassed.
BUT and here is an important BUT, the fraud’s people have apparently tentacles everywhere, the bill also was trying to change it so that the very definition of a NBC is changed so that as long as 1 parent is an American citizen, the person is considered a NBC. VERY SNEAKY. Obviously Brewer cannot mention all this publically, she needs get the legislature to strip out everything and make it simple like they did in LA.
Have the legis. repass it, and then sign it. This bill that she vetoed really was more about saving that fraud in the WH than smoking out the possible illegimatacy of the fraud.
I still have some faith in Brewer, the AZ legis. needs to make it a very, pointed bill, pass it and she needs to sign it. This bill she vetoed would have given a free pass to the fraud. So I have changed my mind on this after doing research online. Things are not as they appear it seems, the fraud’s people are trying to shut this down in everyway possible.
Here is the link for how the jerks in fraud’s admn are trying to amend the consitution without really amending the consitution in the AZ “birther” bill.

“Well hey now. What have we here? The same people who misquoted Bingham, are responsible for sanitizing Obama’s eligibility.
The staff attorney was suddenly on the receiving end of… shall we say, many many difficult questions. To his credit, he tried to defend the position of the compact as not having any direct legal effect on Article 2 Section 1. I was informed that the compact was not intended to help Obama or to change the Constitution as to eligibility. Obviously, that would take an amendment. But the compact is a pseudo amendment in that it includes a bunch of states and it must be approved by Congress.
Should these compact bills pass, the public would not be able to tell the difference. Intense damage would be done to the legal argument that a person not born of citizen parents isn’t eligible to be President.”

I don’t have a problem vetoing the birther bill. Stupid issue. He’s in. Short of risking a civil war, this would be a point won on principle only.
As for her suddenly discovering badly written bills, you all know how I felt about the AZ immigration bill. It sucked in design and structure. And as you noticed, is causing a great deal of problems in court. All of this has to be defended by AZ lawyers if the feds challenge it, which they will. This is a state/fed example of “starving the opposing client” method. The feds can sue for decades, AZ can’t defend for decades, so they’ll settle.
Brewer’s people (trust me she’s not skilled enough to grasp what is or what is not a badly written bill) probably told her it was a loosing proposition from the outset. She did what was called for, if that was the reasoning.
Go back and rewrite the bills if they are as badly written as the immigration bill. Take your time, get it right and then sign it.
I’m not impressed with the level of intelligence at either the governor’s or state house level. Remember they are just people with their own quirks and agendas.
