US REPRESENTATIVE GABRIELLE GIFFORDS SHOT IN HEAD in Arizona! 13 People Shot! (Video) Update: Conflicting Reports- She’s Alive in Grave Condition

Representative Giffords and 6 others are shot in Arizona!
Conflicting reports—
FOX News and CNN earlier reported that the representative is dead:
According to police the gunman put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger.
The bullet went into her temple and out the side of her head.
Update: The representative is responding to commands.
Reportedly a 12 year-old girl was also killed.
The shooter, according to my contact, is an Afghan War veteran.

KOLD in Tuscon is following the story.
Giffords was meeting constituents at a Safeway in Tucson.
Witnesses describe the shooter as being in his late teens or twenties.
This was from an earlier report on the shooting:
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was shot today at a rally outside a grocery store in Tucson, Arizona.
The gunman was tackled and is in custody.
YNet is reporting Giffords was shot in the head.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot in the head outside a grocery store in Tucson while holding a public event, Arizona Public Media reported Saturday.
The 40-year-old Democrat, who was re-elected to her third term in November, was hosting a “Congress on Your Corner” event at a Safeway in northwest Tucson when a gunman ran up and started shooting, according to Peter Michaels, news director of Arizona Public Media.
At least nine other people, including members of her staff, were hurt. Giffords was transported to University Medical Center in Tucson. Her condition was not immediately known.
Giffords was talking to a couple when the suspect ran up firing indiscriminately and then ran off, Michaels said.
UPDATE: NPR is reporting that Representative Giffords and 6 others are dead.

UPDATE: Hopeful news– KOLD says the Congresswoman is alive and in surgery.
According to Darci Slaten, University Medical Center public affairs officer, Gifford’s death has not been confirmed.
“She is alive and in surgery right now,” Slaten said.
Earlier, CNN and Fox News had both confirmed Giffords’ death.
The third-term congresswoman was reportedly shot in the head, according to the “Tucson Citizen.”
UPDATE: There are a number of victims in surgery in Arizona.
The representative is in “grave condition” and is in surgery.

I’m not tech savvy and did not have a way to screen capture, so I appreciate the help, granny. Also, I had originally read the diary on dkos the day it was posted and remembered it immediately when the story broke. Had to try and remember how I found it in the first place, but yeah, this was one scary diary to begin with, then the shooting. AWFUL.
Glad they caught the shooter. He apparently said something as he attacked, so maybe the motive was in the message. Hopefully, cuz otherwise, the right will surely be blamed.

We’re sitting here in the middle of an Internet that has bazillions and bazillions of words about all sorts of topics. Speculating that one set of those words, tucked away in an obscure corner of some website, helped spur today’s shooting is pointless and, frankly, irresponsible.
We have no idea yet what motivated today’s shooting. Some leftists are already blaming “teabaggers.” Some conservatives are already blaming illegal immigration. We have no idea right now what the real story is, but what we can say with certainty is that one, if not both, of those groups is now destined to wind up with egg on its face.
