Eric Odom from Liberty First PAC and the The Tax Day Tea Party told FOX News today that the Tea Party Nation organizers, “Don’t know what’s going on and haven’t from day one.” Odom also said the tea party is more unified than ever… except with those who are holding the Nashville protest next week with Sarah Palin.
Related… The Tea Party Nation released this statement earlier. Reps Blackburn and Backmann pulled out of the event over concerns that democratic House members may target them with ethics complaints if they spoke at the convention.

You may want to double check Eric Odom’s affiliations. He is most certainly affiliated with the Liberty First PAC, American Liberty Alliance, and the TaxDayTeaParty.com website.
But, I do not believe he is in any way associated with Tea Party Express, which has been criticized by for it’s association with Our Country Deserves Better PAC, a strictly GOP fund raiser. As you know, the Tea Party movement is non-partisan.

I’m a bit confused. The Tea Party doesn’t want anything to do with Tea Party Nation. They object to Sarah speaking at this event.
They don’t want any Republicans speaking there or they don’t want any Republicans in general?
I am beginning to agree with many that the original Tea Party movement is not so much being hijacked by Republicans, rather their intent is to go with a third party which at this time I don’t believe will get to the top, the WH.
Third party types will win at local and state levels but the POTUS? I don’t think so.
So, does that mean a Conservative thinking candidate should not run for POTUS? No, not at all, just not as a separate third party. Where does that leave the whole Tea Party and whom they will try to elect as POTUS? Democrat? Republican?
I see more separation, animosity and power struggle with the Tea Party than I do the Tea Party Nation. The Tea Party Express was shown on FOX, and only on FOX, which garnered more support for the movement.
Sarah has it right. We must somehow merge. To denigrate one “Tea Party” event over another is truly a sign of dissension not unity as Eric Odom sheepishly said.
Crystal commented:
I’m still not a fan of Palin and I’ll probably get hammered to saying it but when you start trying to fix something that wasn’t broken by having a for profit convention which a lot of people can’t afford opposed to the not for profit rallies there’s going to be a split.
Michelle Bachman put her heart and soul into the tea parties and since Palin has become involed it’s as if Bachman never existed.
Ted Rush commented:
I think Odom is simply threatened by this group. Odom has a for profit company and asks for donations. Anyone wonder what he is using those donations for? Well, you can keep guessing, because he does not have to reveal them, unlike a non-profit. I read where one of the people on Tea Party Nation said they don’t take donations. I think I trust them much more than I trust Odom.
Joan in Alaska commented:
Crystal, are you sure you aren’t a Moby? There is no animosity between Sarah, Michelle or Marsha.
Sarah is a private citizen now and doesn’t have to be concerned with the crazy liberals throwing bogus ethic violations at her anymore. On the other hand Michelle and Marsha have to make sure there do not give the left that tool.
Eric Odom commented:
Ted,
You should be very careful when making slanderous accusations such as that.
I’ll give you a hand in this case, though, to put to ease the assumption in your comment.
1) American Liberty Alliance has been transitioning into a non-profit for sometime now. Our board began working on this late last year.
2) For profits have a place in this movement. Look at RedState.com, HotAir.com, Michelle Malkin, etc.
Heck Redstate.com itself asks for donations. There is NOTHING wrong with that.
ALA has a board of directors who all have access and oversight to all records. There are no personal paypal accounts and no personal bank accounts used.
Furthermore, ALA will be lucky if it takes in more than $300 this entire month! We don’t push for donations, and most of the time of our leadership is spent working with Liberty First PAC, which IS a non-profit and it’s activity is public record.
And as a side but related note, our event coming up in April (The Patriot Caucus) has a whopping $6.00 registration fee.
Apples and oranges…
-Eric Odom
Joan in Alaska commented:
Eric,
Are you implying that “for profit” groups have a place in the Tea Party movement, just not Tea Party Nation?
I’m confused. I’m also disappointed with the divisiveness that is being played out in the media.
It sucks and it really gives the libs false credibility (oxymoron) when they say we are splintering, fracturing and fighting with each other.
The truth usually comes out and if Tea Party Nation is as evil as you portray, then that will come out.
Is your group looking for a Third Party?

Crystal, are you sure you aren’t a Moby? There is no animosity between Sarah, Michelle or Marsha.
Joan, I never said there was any animosity between them.
I think Palin is strong to stand up to the hate and scrutiny to which she and her family have been under and I do my fair share of fighting for her when she is under personal attacks, but like I said – I’m still not a fan and probably won’t be until she’s more politically seasoned.
If you don’t like what I say, just pass it up. I won’t feel offended.

I for one have been wondering about what was happening in Tennessee as I watched people dropping out of the proposed Tea Party Convention, so Sherry Phillips’ story below is very welcome. It also goes to show other tea party patriots, who might like to hold future forums and so on, just what type of things to expect that may go wrong.

Joan in Alaska commented:
Sibyl, I was glad Sherry came out with this statement.
The Tea Party Movement was a phenomenon the left tried to ignore. They know their days are numbered as the American people have awakened from their political slumber.
You are correct to warn other Tea Party organizations that they can expect these same kinds of attacks.
What I am seeing that is so disappointing, is well meaning “conservatives” with a pitchfork mentality ready to skewer an organization and those involved before they know the truth. Just like James O’Keefe was attacked with false accusations, (wiretapping) just because it was “reported” we sometimes forget to wait for more information.
Obama boldly proclaimed the Cambridge Police acted “stupidly” while telling us he didn’t have all the facts.
I hope in the future this movement will come together and stop falling for the Left’s Alinsky tactics.

I expect any Teaper who criticizes another Teaper to immediately present a CRYSTAL clear reason. Anyone who choses not to attend a for-profit event, or a too high priced event, fine. But… why would you criticize? For me, the criticism of the Tea Party Nation is far to vague.

I think we all should start taking our own advice. If we don’t like what’s going on then we should do something different. We all believe in capitalism and the freedom our society allows to make a buck yet we’re starting to sound like… them. There’s no way ANY event that has Sarah Palin speak will be a failure, will be anti-American, anti… anything we all stand for so let them go at it. I don’t care who makes what amount of money, I can’t afford to go so I’m not going. If I could, I would. Have faith, Sarah will not disappoint, and those of us that can afford to go will go, those of us that can’t will support her and the cause anyway. Let’s just get rid of these bastards in Washington that made their move to turn us into a Banana Republic for their own personal and political gain. Let’s keep focused.

I detect a little bit-o-jealousy in these type of postings, ‘No! You’re Wrong! I’m the real Tea Party’ ! Besides the Lefty stench, there’s another whiff of the GOP aroma quaffing about regarding the TP. Just asking…wonder what Stacey McCain says.

Gandalf…good advice. And BTW Hello Joan!! From Greta’s blog. Remember?? Imo we Must stay focused on the win for 2012! The Dems have said they will USE or INFILTRATE the Tea Parties. The ELECTORAL COLLEGE for 2012 is not ‘set up’ yet for a POTUS win.
Ohio Granny commented:
I’m going. Naturally, I was disappointed that Michele and Marsha aren’t going to be there but I got an email from the Bachmann campaign explaining that there is the illusion of FEC violations but that she wholeheartedly supports the event.
Folks, free marketers have a place alongside non-profits. This is about convening and conversing and banqueting in our best with like minded folks. Some of us are coming with the support and aid of our local group in donations, and some of us are looking at this as Round 2 in the Gandi-ish take back of our country and want to video it for our great grandchildren. Either way, it is all good.
Third party? Been there, tried that, got Clinton for 8. But we have found our voices and folks, just because the revolution began with getting inside the party apparatus of the GOP doesn’t mean that really good Dems aren’t going to do the same and kick those Chicago thugs to the curb. Go Patriots!
