JPMorgan’s Dimon is facing a lawsuit by President Trump.

Debanking Trump has a – steep – price.

President Donald Trump is suing JPMorgan Chase and CEO Jamie Dimon for closing his accounts and those of his companies in early 2021 in a move that the lawsuit calls ‘political actions’.

The lawsuit seeking $5 billion in damages was filed in state court in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

The Telegraph reported:

“The US President has accused the Wall Street giant of unfairly closing his personal bank account and those of his businesses for “woke” reasons in the wake of the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers claimed JP Morgan ‘needed to distance itself from President Trump and his conservative political views’.”

Dimon denies any malfeasance.

“’In essence, [JP Morgan] debanked plaintiffs’ accounts because it believed that the political tide at the moment favored doing so’, a lawsuit filed in Miami, Florida, on Thursday stated.

A JP Morgan spokesman said: ‘While we regret President Trump has sued us, we believe the suit has no merit’.”

“Over the weekend, the President warned that legal action was coming. He wrote in a post on Truth Social: ‘I’ll be suing JPMorgan Chase over the next two weeks for incorrectly and inappropriately DEBANKING me after the January 6th Protest, a protest that turned out to be correct for those doing the protesting — The Election was RIGGED!’”
