A chaotic scene unfolded Friday night at Detroit’s main airport after a driver smashed a vehicle through the glass entrance of a terminal and into an airline check-in area.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. inside the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, when a car breached the terminal doors and eventually ended up by the Delta Airlines counters.
Officers quickly detained the driver, who was seen yelling incoherently as he was escorted from the scene.
Witnesses said the response from police and airport security was almost immediate.
“The response was so quick, thank God with the cops and TSA and everybody,” Ali Khalifa, who observed the incident, told a local media affiliate. “That all happened in seconds.”

The man happened to be wearing a black Detroit Lions jersey, with the name of its star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on the back.
Six individuals received on-site medical attention from Wayne County Airport Authority firefighters.
Meanwhile, Delta later confirmed that no employees were harmed and flight operations continued without disruption.
Authorities have not released the driver’s name or identified an official cause of the crash.
The individual remains in custody as the investigation continues.
