New Tapes, Interviews Released on Ray Epps Reveal Several Inconsistencies in His Testimony to FBI — But They Still Gave Him a Pass

Back on June 18, 2021, The Gateway Pundit was the first national news website to post on the mysterious Ray Epps and his bizarre antics caught on video in Washington DC on January 5th and 6th.

On the eve of the January 6th protests, a middle-aged man in a MAGA hat showed up, defended Antifa, and told the crowd they needed to “go into the Capitol” on Jan. 6. The man made the demands while standing next to Antifa organizer John Sullivan.

This was the night before the Trump rally of a million patriots. This was the day before VP Mike Pence stabbed President Trump in the back and approved the fraudulent 2020 election results.

The Gateway Pundit identified the man as Ray Epps from Arizona.

Epps did an interview with reporters the night of January 5th after urging the crowd to enter the US Capitol the next day.

Epps was later filmed hurling a massive Trump sign at the Capitol Police during the rioting he was promoting.  But Epps was never arrested.

Epps was also one of the first protesters to charge past the barricades in Washington DC.

Revolver News later wrote an expose’ on Ray Epps in October and made him even more famous.

On January 11, 2022 Senator Ted Cruz confronted FBI National Security Branch Executive Assistant Director Jill Sanborn over the law enforcement agency’s involvement on January 6th in a tense exchange during Tuesday’s Senate Hearings.

Cruz asked the FBI director several straightforward questions like ‘how many FBI agents or informants actively participated in Jan 6th? And is notorious 1/6 catalyst ‘Ray Epps a fed?’

But Cruz was unable to get any real answers from Sanborn during her sworn testimony; the only thing she was able to respond with to the majority of his questions was ‘I can’t answer that.’

Following the testimony, a concerned citizen, “FoiaFan”, FOIA requested the FBI with information on Ray Epps later that day.

But as The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, the FOIA requests were repeatedly denied.

Recently, The Epoch Times obtained a collection of Epps-related material recently including FBI interviews with Ray Epps.

The entire report is worth reading.

Epps was caught in several inconsistencies yet he was given leniency by the FBI despited his actions on January 5th and 6th.

The Epoch Times reported:

Inconsistencies
Epps’s two interviews with the FBI included some inconsistencies and changed details, according to the recordings and FBI summary documents.

Epps told the FBI on Jan. 8 that his brother-in-law called him to notify him his picture was on the FBI’s January 6 website. During his March 3 interview with FBI agents, Epps said, “Someone contacted me and said, ‘Hey, your picture’s up.’”

When asked about his brother-in-law later in the interview, Epps said, “He didn’t call me, he called my sister.” Then his wife interjected, “That was me. And I can tell you exactly because he sent me a text, actually.”

When asked about who was with him on Jan. 5 and 6, Epps replied, “My son.” A short while later he said, “I think he had a friend there. He did have a friend there. I don’t know his name.”

One of the agents said he recalled that on the Jan. 8 phone call with the FBI, Epps said he went sightseeing on Jan. 7. “No, we did that the day before,” he told the agent. A few minutes later, however, this detail changed. “Oh, you know what? The next day we did, no, we got up that morning and we went to the Vietnam Memorial.”

In both contacts with the FBI, Epps asked if his photo could be removed from the FBI’s Jan. 6 page. In the Jan. 8 call, the FBI operator said she had nothing to do with FBI web content. In the March 3 interview, he was given a more discouraging take.

“That picture is probably still out there, will probably be there forever now,” one of the agents told him.

Epps said the notoriety of being publicly listed as a person of interest had caused problems.
