Pop star Ricky Martin has been accused of engaging in incest and domestic violence by his nephew.
Martin, 50, has been served with a restraining order by the alleged victim, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, his 21-year-old relative.
The singer’s brother, Eric Martin, told Puerto Rican papers the identity of the alleged victim — who had previously not been named. The restraining order was filed in Puerto Rico on July 1.
Sanchez alleges that he and Martin were in a seven month long relationship that ended two months ago. He said that the star “exercised physical and psychological attacks” against him and has not stopped contacting him since the breakup.
Martin, who is married, has denied the allegations against him.

“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me,” Martin tweeted. “Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”
Martin’s lawyer has accused Sanchez of being mentally ill.
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges,” Marty Singer, Martin’s attorney told Fox News. “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been – and would never be – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting.”
The lawyer added, “we all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
Fox News reports that “incest laws in Puerto Rico could send Martin to prison for 50 years, if the allegations are proven true. The singer is expected to return to Puerto Rico on July 21 for his trial.”
