WATCH: Mother of Uvalde Shooter Speaks Out: ‘He Had His Reasons For Doing What He Did and Please Don’t Judge Him’

The mother of the deranged gunman who shot 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, is asking the public not to “judge” him because he “had his reasons.”

Adriana Reyes, the mother, reportedly struggles with drug addiction — which led to the 18-year-old mass murderer moving in with his grandmother, who he shot in the face before going to the elementary school.

“I have no words. I have no words to say. I don’t know what he was thinking,” Reyes told CNN affiliate Televisa. “He had his reasons for doing what he did and please don’t judge him. I only want the innocent children who died to forgive me.”

Asked by the reporter what she would say to the victim’s families, Reyes said: “Forgive me. Forgive my son. I know he had his reasons.”

When asked what possibly reason he could have had, Reyes said “to get closer to those children instead of paying attention to the other bad things, I have no words. I don’t know.”

Reyes has claimed she didn’t know about his gun purchase in an interview with ABC News.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Reyes said that her son “kept to himself and didn’t have many friends,” but denied reports that her relationship with her son was toxic.

“My son wasn’t a violent person. I’m surprised by what he did,” Reyes said. “I pray for those families. I’m praying for all of those innocent children, yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this.”
