BREAKING: DeSantis Signs Parental Rights in Education (Erroneously Branded ‘Don’t Say Gay’) Bill — Bashes Hollywood

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed the Parental Rights in Education bill which bans certain instruction about sexual orientation and “gender identity” in classrooms.

“I don’t care what corporate media outlets say, I don’t care what Hollywood says, I don’t care what big corporations say. Here I stand. I’m not backing down,” DeSantis said at the bill signing.

The legislation states that “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Parents will be able to sue districts over violations.

The measure has been erroneously branded the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by critics. Critics of those critics have branded them groomers.

Several celebrities made comments opposing the legislation during the Oscars on Sunday evening.

“We will continue to recognize that in the state of Florida, parents have a fundamental role in the education, health care and well-being of their children. We will not move from that,” DeSantis said.

HB 1557 will now go into effect in July.
