In the home state of Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, who has plunged in the polls, Trump attacked the former congressman, ” calling him “dumb” for pledging “to revoke the tax-exempt status of many churches and religious charities” and “take your guns away.”
O’Rourke says that any church that refuses to perform same-sex marriages should lose federal tax exemptions and wants to seize AR-15s and other military-style rifles from owners.
“In a few short weeks, [he] got rid of guns and got rid of religion,” Trump joked, saying that in Texas “that doesn’t work.”
