Nadler Issues Subpoena Over a ‘Joke’ Trump Made About Issuing Pardons to DHS Officials

The House Judiciary Committee chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler (NY) on Wednesday issued a subpoena to the Department of Homeland Security for documents over a joke Trump made about pardoning DHS officials.

Welcome to 2019.

President Trump has denied making the offer back in April to pardon acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan if he broke immigration law in order to deny illegals the ability to apply for asylum.

According to media reports, Trump was just making a joke when he offered the pardon, but Nadler wants to see the documents and records from inside of the DHS.

“The Framers did not envision the use of the presidential pardon power to encourage criminal acts at the president’s direction,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said in a statement. “As the committee continues its investigation into whether to recommend articles of impeachment, it is imperative that we are able to obtain information about ongoing presidential misconduct and abuses of power.”

Nadler also said that his committee will be holding hearings this Fall related to the issue of pardons, according to Politico.

Nadler and other Dem-led committees in the House are harassing President Trump, his family and his associates in a series of investigations.

Chairman Nadler is currently running an ‘impeachment investigation’ stemming from Mueller’s probe and he keeps roving to new areas.

It was recently reported that Nadler is also investigating Trump’s role in the ‘hush payments’ made to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal during the 2016 election.

The Democrats no longer legislate. All they do is use time and resources to harass Trump with Soviet-style show trials.
