Ilhan Omar’s Racist Hate Speech: “We Should Be More Fearful of White Men – Who are Causing Most Deaths”

Guest post by Collin McMahon

In an interview with Al Jazeera August 2018, Representative Ilhan Omar said that “I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country,” Omar answered.

According to the official FBI Statistics 2017, 15 homicides were classified as “Hate Crimes” in 2017. 6 perpetrators were white, 7 were black, 1 was unknown. Out of 14 known perpetrators, 50% were black and 42,8% were white. African-Americans make up about 12.1% of the population, which means they were about 4 times more likely to commit a homicidal Hate Crime as the rest of the population, according to these figures.

In the year 2016, 9 homicides were classified as Hate Crimes. 4 of these were committed by white offenders and 5 by black offenders (55%).

According to the FBI, black offenders are over-represented not just in Hate Crime homicides, but in Hate Crimes in general. In 2017, race was reported for 6,370 known hate crime offenders. Of these offenders 50.7% were white and 21.3% were black.

In the year 2018, 55 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in the USA. Of these cop killers, 31 were white and 23 were black (41.8%).

Of 532 known cop killers between 2009 and 2018, 302 were white and 201 were black (37.7%.) That means black offenders are about 3.5 times as likely to kill a cop than the population at large.

And blacks are disproportionately represented among homicide victims and offenders.

Ilhan Omar has no idea what she’s talking about.

We wonder if Ilhan Omar will now be called out for racist Hate Speech by the Southern Poverty Law Center?
