FLASHBACK: Baltimore Mayor Does City Walk Through, Complains ‘Whoa, You Can Smell the Rats and Dead Animals’

A video of Baltimore’s former Democrat Mayor Catherine Pugh doing a walk through a dilapidated neighborhood last year has resurfaced amid claims that President Donald Trump’s concern over the state of Charm City’s rat infestation is “racist.”

At one point, Mayor Pugh declares that she can “smell the rats.”

“What the hell? We should just take all this sh*t down. … Whoa, you can smell the rats. … Whew, Jesus. … Oh, my God, you can smell the dead animals,” Mayor Pugh said during a segment on Fox 45.

Earlier this week, CNN host Victor Blackwell cried on air over tweets from President Trump complaining about the rat problem, asserting that pointing out the infestation is “racist.”

Baltimore is number nine on Orkin’s list of the top ten most rat-infested cities.

“Aside from causing structural damage, rodents can carry hundreds of pathogens that can transmit various diseases and dangerous parasites. Additionally, they constantly leave behind droplets of urine as they travel each day. These droppings can contribute to asthma and allergic reactions, especially in children,” Chelle Hartzer, an Orkin entomologist, said in a press release about infested cities.

The tweets from the president that have dominated this week’s news cycle slammed Rep. Elijah Cummings for focusing on the Southern Border instead of problems in his own district.

“Rep. Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous,” Trump tweeted. “His district is considered the Worst in the USA as proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
