“TARGETED ATTACK” Capital Gazette Shooter Previously Sued Newspaper For Defamation

Although authorities have identified the shooter using facial recognition software, they have yet to release his name.

According to police, the man who killed 5 people in a shooting at the Capital Gazette is from Maryland.

Law enforcement is now telling media sources the shooter previously sued the Capital Gazette for defamation.

Investigative reporter, Jayne Miller said, “No ID confirmed yet on Annapolis mass shooting suspect but sources say investigators looking at man who filed suit against Capital Gazette previously.”

CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported: Law enforcement source tells CNN that they believe the suspect had some previous interaction with an executive at the newspaper. The source cautioned that is preliminary info, and investigation is just in beginning stages.

Oliver Darcy also reported this was a “targeted attack” and the shooter was looking for his victims as he walked in the newsroom.

Police say threats were sent over social media as recently as today.
