Dem Leading Trump Impeachment Effort Blasts Nancy Pelosi for Trivializing His Efforts

A fight has broken out in the mess that is the Democratic Party after the Congressman leading the effort to impeach President Donald Trump blasted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for “trivializing” his efforts.

Rep. Al Green

Last week, Pelosi said that “being a jerk” does not rise to the level required for an impeachment.

“Impeachment is a distraction,” Pelosi said last week. “I’m not walking away from impeachment for political reasons, and I’m not walking toward it for political reasons. I just think it’s divisive.”

Congressman Al Green who has been leading that charge took massive offense to her remarks and put out a scathing statement on Monday responding to her comments.

“It is regrettable that Leader Pelosi would trivialize President Trump’s hateful discrimination against Jews, Latinos, Blacks, Women, and the LGBTQ community by reducing the President’s harmful bigotry to his ‘being a jerk,’” Green said in his statement. “Love for my country will not permit me to allow the president’s bigotry to be trivialized and minimized.”

Green is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus who introduced articles of impeachment last year.

Pelosi and other party leaders have warned that impeachment talk will only help Republicans in the midterms.

“Green has already forced two floor votes on the issue. The first, in December, was supported by 58 Democrats. The number rose to 66 in the second vote in January — a bump attributed to Trump’s derogatory comments about Africa made just a week before,” the Hill reports.
